Ch 11 : A Promise Meant to Break

[Present Day – Jungkook’s Apartment]

Jungkook sat on his bed, his hands clasped together, staring at the ceiling like it held the answers he was searching for.

Taehyung was hiding something.

He could see it in the way he flinched at his touch, the way his voice wavered when he told him to leave. There was something buried deep beneath those brown eyes—something that screamed familiarity, like a déjà vu he couldn’t quite grasp.

Jungkook exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair.

He had never felt this drawn to someone before. It wasn’t just attraction; it was something heavier, something that felt like fate wrapping its fingers around his throat, refusing to let go.

His phone buzzed on the nightstand.

Yoongi: Stop overthinking and go to sleep.

Jungkook smirked, shaking his head. How did Yoongi always know?

Jungkook: Easier said than done.

Yoongi didn’t reply, probably expecting him to figure things out on his own.

Jungkook leaned back against the pillows, closing his eyes.

But the moment he did, a flash of something burned behind his eyelids—

A battlefield. The scent of blood in the air. Taehyung reaching for him, his voice a whisper carried by the wind.

"Don’t forget me."

Jungkook gasped, eyes flying open. His chest heaved as he sat up, rubbing his temples.

What the hell was that?

Why did it feel so real?

Taehyung’s back was pressed against the cold brick wall, his breath coming in short gasps. His white robes were drenched, the rain mixing with the blood on his sleeves.

Jungkook stood before him, sword drawn, his expression unreadable.

“You should have run,” Jungkook whispered.

Taehyung swallowed. “Would you have let me?”

Jungkook’s grip on his sword tightened. His eyes burned with something unspoken—something dangerous. “No.”

Taehyung smiled, sad and knowing. “Then I was never meant to escape, was I?”

Jungkook exhaled heavily, stepping closer. He reached out, fingers brushing Taehyung’s cheek, wiping away a raindrop—or was it a tear?

“You were meant to be mine,” Jungkook murmured.

Taehyung’s heart ached. “And yet, we always end in ruin.”

Jungkook’s jaw clenched. He leaned in, his lips brushing against Taehyung’s forehead, a touch so soft it felt like an apology.

Taehyung closed his eyes, savoring the warmth before it was ripped away.

A second later, he felt the cold steel pierce his side.

Taehyung woke with a start, his chest rising and falling rapidly. His hand instinctively pressed against his side, but there was no wound—only the ghost of a pain long forgotten.

He let out a shaky breath, eyes darting toward the clock. 3:42 AM.

Why now?

Why was the past bleeding into the present again?

He pulled his knees to his chest, his mind racing.

This wasn’t the first time he had dreams like this.

But this time, he wasn’t the only one remembering.

Jungkook was starting to see it too.

And if that continued—

Taehyung clenched his fists.

He would have to leave.

Because no matter how many lifetimes passed, the ending was always the same.

One of them would die.

And this time, Taehyung refused to let it be Jungkook.
