In Another Life
[Present Day]
The first time Taehyung saw Jungkook, he felt it.
A sharp pull in his chest, like an invisible thread tightening around his heart, yanking him toward a fate he didn't understand.
Jungkook stood in the middle of the crowded university hallway, laughing with his friends, his voice deep and rich. His eyes crinkled at the corners, and his smile was the kind that could make the sun jealous. He had no idea that, somewhere across the hall, Taehyung was standing frozen, staring at him like he had seen a ghost.
Because, in a way, he had.
Memories crashed into Taehyung’s mind like a flood—fragments of another life, another time. A battlefield. Blood-stained hands. Jungkook's voice calling his name, desperate and broken. A promise whispered before everything went black.
"Find me."
His knees nearly buckled.
"Taehyung?" Jimin's voice pulled him back to the present. His best friend was watching him with concern. "You okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost."
A ghost. Yes. That was exactly what Jungkook was to him.
"I'm fine," Taehyung murmured, forcing his legs to move, his heartbeat still erratic. He couldn’t look away from Jungkook, who still hadn't noticed him.
But deep down, Taehyung knew.
Jungkook would notice him soon.
Because he always did.
And the story would start again.

[Flashback – A Past Life]
The night sky was painted in streaks of fire as the city burned. Soldiers ran through the streets, their swords clashing, their screams lost in the chaos.
Amidst the destruction, two figures stood in the shadows of a ruined temple.
"You have to leave," Jungkook whispered urgently, gripping Taehyung’s wrist. His dark eyes, filled with emotion, burned into Taehyung’s soul. "If they find you, they’ll kill you."
Taehyung shook his head. "I can’t. Not without you."
Jungkook exhaled shakily, his fingers tightening around Taehyung’s. "If you stay, we both die."
But Taehyung had already made his choice.
"If dying is the price of loving you, then I’ll pay it."
A heartbeat of silence. Then Jungkook crushed their lips together, desperate, bruising. It tasted like war, like sorrow, like a goodbye neither of them wanted to say.
And then—
A sword. A scream. A promise shattered in blood.
"Find me."

[Present Day]
Taehyung snapped back to reality, gasping for air. His hands trembled. The memories were getting clearer, coming faster. This had never happened before—he had never remembered so much so soon.
"Taehyung?" Jimin was looking at him like he might pass out any second.
"I'm fine," Taehyung lied.
Across the hallway, Jungkook finally turned, his gaze locking onto Taehyung’s.
And just like that, the thread between them tightened again.
Fate had started its cruel game once more.
