chapter 4 A warship beyond limits

The Awakening Ceremony had ended. As the Awakened dispersed, Shane closed his eyes and focused on his connection to Nyx Eternum.

A strange sensation pulsed through him. He could feel the warship—not just as a machine but as an extension of himself. Then, with a thought, it disappeared, vanishing into his body like a shadow fading into the night.

This was the unique ability granted to every Awakener: the power to store their warship within their soul.

Returning Home

The journey back home was quiet. His father, Cedric Wyne, and his mother, Elara Wyne, walked beside him. They had seen everything, yet they asked nothing.

Instead, Cedric simply placed a hand on Shane’s shoulder.

"Well done, son."

Elara gave him a gentle smile.

"No matter what happens, we will always support you."

They respected his privacy. In this universe, a warship was the soul of its pilot, and its secrets were not to be casually revealed.

His Sister’s Request

The moment they stepped inside their home, a small figure rushed toward him.

His younger sister, Lyra, her bright eyes shining with excitement, grabbed his hand.

"Shane! Summon your warship! I want to see it!"

Shane hesitated. He had barely begun to understand Nyx Eternum. However, seeing his sister’s enthusiasm, he sighed and stepped outside.

With a thought, he summoned it.

A deep, echoing hum filled the air. The ground trembled as black energy crackled in the sky. Then, a massive warship materialized above them.

Nyx Eternum descended slowly, its 300-meter-long frame casting a massive shadow over the courtyard. Its sleek black metal gleamed under the starlight, golden runes shifting and twisting along its hull like living veins.

Even Cedric, a Second Order warrior, felt an inexplicable sense of pressure from the ship. He narrowed his eyes.

"This… is not normal."

Beside him, Elara furrowed her brows. The sheer presence of this warship… it was intimidating.

Then there was Lyra, who simply squealed in excitement.

"Big bro, it’s so cool!"

Shane hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"Want to see the inside?"

Exploring the Nyx Eternum

The entrance ramp lowered, revealing an interior bathed in soft blue lights. As they stepped inside, Shane’s breath caught.

This was no ordinary warship.

The walls were composed of a mysterious alloy, sleek and flawless. Holographic interfaces floated in the air, far more advanced than anything he had ever seen.

Even Cedric and Elara, who had been aboard countless warships, looked visibly stunned. Their family’s warship—an Aegis-Class battleship, renowned for its knight-like design—suddenly seemed outdated in comparison.

"This is… high-tier technology," Cedric muttered.

"No, even high-tier warships don’t look like this," Elara corrected.

Lyra, meanwhile, was bouncing excitedly.

"Big bro, I want a ship like this too!"

Shane chuckled, but deep inside, he was struggling to process what he was seeing. The technology here was far beyond what a Flicker-rank Awakener should possess.

And then he noticed them.

The Forbidden Modules

As he examined the main control panel, a list of installed modules appeared. His eyes widened.

Among the standard modules, he found something impossible—something that should not exist in a warship of his level.

Void Stabilizer – Allows limited spatial manipulation, defying normal space travel restrictions.

Temporal Shift Engine – A theoretical time-based module, capable of disrupting time within a small radius.

Quantum Mirage Cloak – Generates illusions across multiple dimensions, making the warship almost undetectable.

"Space-Time technology?" Shane’s voice was barely a whisper.

Even the Star Empire, the most powerful force in the galaxy, had not yet mastered Space-Time modules. And yet… his warship had them.

He clenched his fists.

"What exactly is Nyx Eternum?"

A Ship Without a Rank

Shane opened the warship’s system and searched for its classification.

[ERROR: No existing classification found.]

He frowned. All warships, from Drifter-Class to Celestial-Class, had a designated level. But Nyx Eternum had none.

His warship did not belong to any known category.

His father watched his expression and chuckled.

"Seems like you’ve got a monster of a warship, son."

Elara folded her arms.

"Whatever it is… it chose you."

Shane took a deep breath. He had awakened as a Flicker, the lowest possible rank. And yet, his warship was something beyond the limits of this universe.

This was no ordinary journey.

This was the Era of Revolution.
