chapter 3 warship's call

The Awakening was only the beginning. Those who had been chosen now stood before the true test—their bond with a warship.

A massive gateway opened within the Hall of Ascension, revealing a portal shimmering with celestial energy. This was the entrance to the Majestic Palace, a place older than recorded history, where only the Awakened could enter.

The examiner’s voice rang out.

"Step forward. The warships await."

Shane’s heart pounded as he walked through the portal. The moment he crossed the threshold, the world around him changed.

The Majestic Palace

Shane found himself in a vast chamber stretching beyond sight. It was filled with towering structures, floating platforms, and a glowing nebula swirling above.

Before him stood thousands of warships, each resting silently, waiting. These were not ordinary machines; they were sentient, bonded to the very essence of Psionic Energy.

A warship was not chosen by its pilot. It chose its owner.

One by one, the Awakened moved forward, standing before the warships. When a warship found its match, it would awaken, acknowledging its master.

Shane watched as his peers formed bonds with powerful ships—sleek silver vessels, radiant golden warships, and enormous crimson dreadnoughts.

But as he walked among them, none of them reacted to him.

Then, he felt it.

A presence.

A cold shiver ran down his spine as his eyes were drawn to the farthest end of the palace. There, in the shadows, stood a lone warship unlike any other.

It was massive—larger than any other vessel in the palace. Its sleek frame was wrapped in an eerie black metal, darker than the void itself. Strange golden etchings shimmered faintly across its hull, shifting and changing as if alive.

Shane felt a pull, an undeniable connection.

"This… this ship is calling me."

He stepped closer, and the moment he did, the warship trembled. The air crackled with energy, and a deep, ancient voice echoed in his mind.

"You have been forsaken. I have been forgotten. But together… we will rise."

The warship’s core pulsed, and suddenly, black lightning surged around it. A wave of Psionic Energy exploded outward, forcing the other Awakened to step back in shock.

"What is that ship?!"

"No warship has ever reacted like this!"

"Why is it choosing him? He’s just a Flicker!"

The instructors, high-ranking warriors themselves, were stunned.

And then, the warship spoke again, its words resonating through Shane’s very soul.

"I am Nyx Eternum—the shadow of the forgotten, the whisper of the abyss. If you accept me, you will walk a path unlike any other."

Shane clenched his fists. He had been mocked for his weak Awakening. But this ship—this sentient force—was unlike any other in the palace.

He stepped forward, placed his hand on its hull, and whispered:

"I accept."

In an instant, the bond was sealed. A surge of knowledge and power flooded into him. The ship’s systems, its functions, its very will—he understood it all.

The crowd watched in stunned silence.

His Parents’ Reaction

Among them, Cedric Wyne and Elara Wyne stood tall, their expressions unreadable. But deep within, they felt something unexpected—pride.

His mother, Elara, exhaled slowly.

"That warship… it’s not normal."

His father, Cedric, nodded, a small smirk playing on his lips.

"Of course not. He’s my son."

They had believed in him, despite his low rank. And now, as Shane stood before them, bonded to a warship shrouded in mystery, they knew—his journey had only just begun.

Warship Rankings

Each Awakened was granted a warship corresponding to their rank. Warships could be upgraded, but only by one level above their owner. The rankings were as follows:

Drifter-Class – Basic warships for Flicker-ranked pilots. Simple and slow.

Ember-Class – Warships with improved combat capabilities.

Ignis-Class – The first true combat warships. Agile and versatile.

Blaze-Class – Elite vessels, capable of planetary warfare.

Inferno-Class – Behemoths with devastating firepower.

Astral-Class – Warships capable of interstellar combat.

Celestial-Class – Ruler-class ships, bending laws of reality.

Voidborn-Class – The pinnacle of warship evolution. These exist only in legends.

Shane’s warship—Nyx Eternum—did not fit into any of these categories. It was something… else.

The Road Ahead

The Awakening Ceremony was over, but Shane’s true test had just begun. He had bonded with a warship that defied classification.

Now, he had to prove that, even as a Flicker, he could carve his own path to the stars.

This was his revolution.
