Sudden Marriage – First Night Romance
Bae sat on the bed, her fingers nervously gripping the edge of her dupatta. The soft glow of the bedside lamp cast a golden hue around the room, making the atmosphere feel both intimate and unfamiliar. She could hear her own heartbeat, fast and uncertain. This wasn’t how she had ever imagined her first night of marriage—sudden, unplanned, with a man she barely knew.
Bunny, on the other hand, stood near the window, hands in his pockets. He stole a glance at her, noticing the way her long lashes fluttered against her cheeks as she avoided his gaze. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Bae,” he called softly.
She looked up, her big, expressive eyes filled with nervousness.
“I know this marriage wasn’t something we expected,” Bunny said, stepping closer. “And I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.”
Bae bit her lip. “I just… I don’t know how to act around you.”
Bunny chuckled lightly, sitting on the bed but keeping a respectful distance. “Then let’s not act. Let’s just be ourselves.”
She looked at him, surprised by his gentleness. He wasn’t forcing anything, wasn’t demanding anything. It made her relax, just a little.
“Friends?” he offered, holding out his hand.
Bae hesitated, then slowly placed her hand in his. “Friends,” she whispered.
Bunny smiled, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. The warmth of his touch sent an unexpected shiver through her. She tried to pull away, but he held on, not forcefully, just enough to make her pause.
“Can I tell you something?” he asked.
She nodded.
“You look beautiful tonight.” His voice was soft, sincere.
Bae’s cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked away. “You don’t have to say that.”
“I’m saying it because it’s true.” His fingers brushed against hers lightly, sending tingles up her arm. “You’re nervous. I can feel it. But I want you to know, I won’t rush anything. This is as new for me as it is for you.”
Bae’s heart softened at his words. She had expected awkwardness, maybe even distance, but not this… not his kindness.
“Thank you, Bunny,” she murmured.
Bunny let go of her hand and leaned back against the pillows. “So, tell me something about you that no one else knows,” he said, breaking the heavy silence.
She laughed lightly, grateful for the change in topic. “I love the smell of rain… and I talk to myself when I’m nervous.”
Bunny smirked. “Noted. I guess I’ll hear you talking to yourself a lot then?”
She swatted his arm playfully, and for the first time that night, they both laughed.
As the night went on, their conversation flowed easily—talking about dreams, childhood memories, silly habits. The tension faded, replaced by something warm and comforting.
At one point, Bae yawned, covering her mouth shyly. Bunny chuckled. “Sleep, Bae. We have a lifetime ahead to talk.”
She nodded, lying down, feeling safer than she had expected.
As the lights dimmed, Bunny whispered, “Goodnight, Bae.”
“Goodnight, Bunny,” she replied, a small smile on her lips.
And just like that, their journey began—not as strangers, but as two hearts finding their way toward something beautiful.
