"Canteen moments"

"Canteen moments"

There was an event at school where other schools competed.

"Tal, can you buy a shake first because I still need to wait for my order?" I said. She nodded.

While waiting, I saw the two volleyball players approaching. "I want to eat this," one of them said. I didn't dare to look at them because I didn't want to have an awkward moment. He continued, "No, I still need to control what I eat since we have a game later." So, he ordered a burger and some juice. While he was ordering, I made a little space so he could order freely.

Is it heavy to eat too? I thought to myself. Who cares? My order was done. I said, "Thank you," and walked over to where Tal was. I didn't dare to look at them again; I didn't want to be obvious that I found them attractive. I didn't want to notice them because I might become obsessed.

Their order was done, and they walked towards the exit. I saw them, and they saw me. I looked away and tried to talk to Tal to distract myself from looking. "I guess... good luck to them," I thought. "I hope they win their game."

Tal and I were back in the gym. I saw them at the bottom of the bleachers, sitting together with their team. There was another team too. I saw him. I walked confidently, not daring to look at the other athletes. When I saw my friends, I smiled at them. They smiled back.

When I reached them, "Why are you smiling like that?" I asked. They had painted their faces to support the athletes. "Yeah." "There are some handsome ones!!!" she whispered. Maybe the athletes heard it since we weren't that far away.

I took a seat and watched the game. The game had ended. "Let's buy food again?" It was Tanya who suggested buying food. "I don't want to get down. Can you buy what I want?" Reese said. I nodded. She took out her money and gave it to me. "Just buy me French fries and iced coffee." I nodded again.

Tanya and I walked down the stairs. We got out of the gym. While going out, some athletes were at the entrance. "We should wait first. Why are we stuck here? Besides, the cousin of my ex is here!" She said and laughed. Oops.

After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at the food stalls. We bought food and walked back to the gym. "Here," I said to Reese. She took her food and said, "Thank you." I took a seat and watched the game. It was their game, the guy from the canteen.

During the game, I was too nervous. I felt like I was in the game, playing. I even prayed that they would win. But every set, the guy from the canteen didn't have a chance to be on the court. He even looked like a good player.

During the game, I took my phone and searched for him. I searched and saw his profile on Facebook. I saw a post that said "improving." Maybe that's why he wasn't playing in the game. Okay, you got this, little one. Improving. I knew that one day you would be on the court. The game will surely be yours. Feeling proud for a while, but kindly disappointed in the game since he was there to play. I hope I could see him play.

"Let's watch again tomorrow since it's the championship. Our school will be playing too. We might be the champions of this game," Tanya said, and I nodded. The game was done, and the guy's team won. I felt so happy that they won. I felt like I was the one who played on the court, yes!

We left since it was already done, and tomorrow would be the last day since it was the championship.
