chapter 6: the hidden song

The night air was sharp and electric as BTS sprinted through the narrow corridors beneath the stadium. The echoes of their footsteps mixed with the distant roar of the audience still lingering outside, oblivious to the danger unfolding behind the scenes.

Jungkook’s breath came in short gasps, his mind racing faster than his feet. Hana ran ahead, her movements precise, like she knew every corner of the building. Behind them, heavy boots pounded against the concrete—The Silence was gaining on them.

“They’re right behind us!” Jin hissed, throwing a glance over his shoulder.

Hana didn’t slow down. “Keep moving. They won’t attack in a public space. Not yet.”

But then—

A gunshot rang out.

The sharp crack of a bullet ricocheted off the metal railings, sending sparks flying. Jimin yelped, ducking instinctively as Namjoon grabbed his arm and pulled him forward.

“They’re shooting at us?!” J-Hope’s voice was high with disbelief.

Hana didn’t break stride. “They won’t kill you,” she said, her voice eerily calm despite the chaos. “They need your voices.”

The words sent an icy chill down Jungkook’s spine.

They didn’t have time to ask what she meant. They burst through a rusted door and into a dimly lit parking garage. The space was eerily quiet except for their ragged breathing and the distant hum of car engines outside.

“There!” Hana pointed to a metal staircase leading up to the roof.

They took the steps two at a time, the pounding of their hearts matching the rhythm of their footsteps. Jungkook could hear the agents closing in, their voices sharp and methodical.

“Don’t let them reach the city.”

“Secure their voices.”

The words didn’t make sense, but Jungkook didn’t stop to think about them. He just ran.

At the top of the stairs, they burst through another door and onto the rooftop. The city stretched before them, glowing with neon lights and moving cars. It felt surreal—Seoul was alive, unaware of the battle taking place just above its streets.

A helicopter hovered nearby, its blades slicing through the night air. The red light on its side blinked ominously.

J-Hope gasped for breath. “Is that for us?”

Hana’s expression darkened. “Not ours.”

The Silence had them cornered.

Jungkook clenched his fists, panic creeping in. What now? They were trapped.

Then—Yoongi stepped forward.

He didn’t run. He didn’t hide. He closed his eyes, took a breath, and hummed the opening note of Moonlit Echo.

The sound rippled through the air. But this time, it wasn’t just a melody.

It was a force.

The helicopter wavered mid-air, its lights flickering. The Silence agents froze in place as if held by invisible strings. Even the wind around them seemed to pause, caught in the weight of the note.

Jungkook felt it deep in his chest—like something beneath the music was trying to reach them.

Then, a strange realization struck him.

There was more to Moonlit Echo. A second layer beneath the song they had always known.

A hidden melody.

Yoongi opened his eyes, his expression unreadable. “We’ve only sung half of the song.”

Hana’s face paled. “If that’s true…”

Jungkook’s throat was dry. “Then what happens when we sing the rest?”

The city below remained oblivious. The Silence stood frozen. The helicopter’s blades slowed as if time itself hesitated.

Something was listening.

Something was waiting.

And now, there was no turning back.
