Life 101 - Season 2, Episode 3: Amina’s Popularity & Zoology Wahala
Amina Steals the Spotlight
The new semester had just begun, and already, something strange was happening.
Everywhere Amina went, boys were staring.
Boys were smiling at her.
Boys were offering to help her carry her books.
Boys were sending her messages on WhatsApp.
Even Michael, the guy Ebere had been crushing on for months, was now following Amina around like a lost puppy.
Ebere couldn’t believe her eyes.
"What is happening?" she muttered.
During breakfast, Sandra, Blessing, and Gift were laughing about it.
"Ebere, have you noticed?" Sandra teased.
"All the boys are going crazy for Amina!"
Ebere rolled her eyes. She was not happy.
"Why Amina?" she thought. "She’s quiet, she wears hijab, she doesn’t even dress sexy! How come all the boys like her?"
Ebere was boiling with jealousy.
First Zoology Class of the Semester
Later that day, it was time for their first Zoology class of the semester.
The lecturer, Dr. Okonkwo, walked into the hall.
"Good morning, class."
"Good morning, sir," the students chorused.
Dr. Okonkwo adjusted his glasses. "This semester, we will go deeper into zoology. We will study vertebrates, invertebrates, animal physiology, and more. I hope you are all ready."
Ebere was already tired.
"Zoology again? This course no go finish?" she mumbled.
Then, the lecturer started talking about animal classification.
Ebere yawned. She leaned over to Gift and whispered, "I wan change course. Zoo dey too hard!"
Gift froze. She turned and stared at Ebere like she had just said the dumbest thing in the world.
"Wetin dey worry you?!" Gift hissed loudly. "You dey craze? You dumb ooo!"
Everyone in class burst into laughter.
Even the lecturer looked up.
Sandra, Blessing, and Amaka were dying of laughter.

Ebere covered her face in shame.

Zoology No Be My Calling
After the embarrassing moment in Zoology class, Ebere had made up her mind—she was done with Zoology.
"All this animal talk no be for me," she told herself.
She had already been eyeing Theatre Arts for some time, especially after hearing that the department was casting for a new stage play and they needed a female lead.
"This is my chance," she thought.
That evening, Ebere marched straight to the Theatre Arts department and applied for a transfer.
Ebere Auditions for the Play
The next day, auditions were being held for the role of Princess Morayo in a play titled The King’s Daughter.
When Ebere arrived, she saw many girls trying out for the same role.
Some of them were thin and elegant.
Some were light-skinned and tall.
Some were confident and graceful.
Ebere was nervous—but she was not going to give up.
When it was her turn, she stepped onto the stage.
The director, Mr. Jide, looked at her and sighed. "Alright, let’s see what you’ve got. Read this line."
Ebere cleared her throat and began:
"Father, why must I be forced to marry a man I do not love? My heart belongs to another!"
Her voice boomed across the room.
The lecturers and students watching sat up.
Ebere continued acting—she cried, shouted, and even fell dramatically to the floor.
When she was done, there was silence.
Then, Mr. Jide stood up and clapped.
"Congratulations," he said. "The role is yours."
Ebere’s eyes widened. "I got the role?"
"Yes," Mr. Jide nodded. "But you will need to work on a few things."
Ebere’s Training Begins
After she was officially transferred to Theatre Arts, the lecturers wasted no time teaching her the basics.
Posture & Movement:
"Stop adjusting your breast every five minutes!" one of the female lecturers scolded.
"Stand straight, shoulders up. Confidence is key!"
Diction & Pronunciation:
"Your pronunciation needs work, Ebere. Say 'The King's Daughter' without rushing the words."
Weight & Stamina:
"Acting requires energy. You need to move around the stage without getting tired."
"Try jogging in the morning, it will help with stamina."
Facial Expressions:
"Stop overacting. Sometimes, silence speaks louder than words."
Ebere felt overwhelmed—but she was also excited.
"I fit do this one," she thought.
And for the first time in a long time, she felt like she finally belonged.
