Love in the Pages

Chapter 1: The Accidental Meeting

Isla Morgan never believed in love at first sight. She believed in logic, in carefully made decisions, and in books. As a librarian in a quiet town, she spent most of her days lost in stories, surrounded by the scent of old paper and ink.

One rainy afternoon, as she was rearranging the classics section, a tall man in a damp coat walked in. He looked lost, his dark hair sticking to his forehead. He glanced around before making his way to her desk.

"Excuse me," he said, his voice smooth yet hesitant. "Do you have Pride and Prejudice?"

Isla raised an eyebrow. "We do, but it's quite a popular choice. I hope you’re not just reading it because of the movie."

The man chuckled, shaking his head. "Guilty as charged. But actually, my sister loves it. She thinks I need more romance in my life."

Something about his honesty made her smile. "Well, your sister has good taste. I’m Isla, by the way."

"Leo Bennett." He extended his hand, and when she shook it, she felt an unfamiliar warmth spread through her chest.

That was the first of many visits.

Chapter 2: Between the Lines

Leo became a regular at the library, borrowing books he probably wouldn't have read on his own. He claimed he was expanding his horizons, but Isla suspected he just liked their conversations.

One evening, as they sat on the worn-out reading chairs, Leo asked, "If you could live in any book, which one would it be?"

Isla thought for a moment. "Maybe Anne of Green Gables. It’s full of adventure and warmth."

Leo smirked. "I figured you’d say something like that. Me? Probably The Great Gatsby—without the tragic ending, of course."

She laughed. "So, you’d throw extravagant parties and chase after lost love?"

"More like throw extravagant parties and hope someone brings cake," he joked, making her giggle.

Slowly, Isla realized she wasn’t just looking forward to their conversations—she was looking forward to him.

Chapter 3: The Confession

It was a chilly December night when Leo found Isla sitting alone in the library. She looked up, startled.

"You okay?" he asked, sitting across from her.

She hesitated before nodding. "I just… I feel like I’m in one of those books where the heroine is too scared to take a chance on happiness."

Leo tilted his head. "And what’s stopping her?"

Isla met his gaze, her heart pounding. "Fear of writing the wrong ending."

Leo reached for her hand, his touch gentle but firm. "Maybe the ending doesn’t matter. Maybe it’s about the story in between."

She took a deep breath, then whispered, "Leo, I think I—"

Before she could finish, he leaned in and kissed her, slow and sweet, like a well-loved passage in a favorite book.

Epilogue: Love in the Margins

Years later, their love story became a part of the library itself. Isla and Leo ran a bookshop together, filling it with stories both old and new.

And every once in a while, Leo would pull Pride and Prejudice from the shelf, wink at her, and say, "Still expanding my horizons, librarian."

And every time, she would smile—because love, like the best stories, was timeless.
