Present day


Gaby, through it all, looking for a job... but because of that son of a bitch, my ex-boss... I can't find anything anywhere; he completely tarnished my name...

And he even put it in newspapers and some gossip sites... that I tried to seduce him... and worse, the scoundrel is married, and I came out looking like the unloved one... who couldn't handle being rejected by the rich boss and broke his nose for rejecting me...

And I lost my job as a secretary, left with nothing but the clothes on my back, and lost my dignity to walk with my head held high in this city...

I arrived home tired from handing out so many resumes and went to my room since my mother was working and RUBY too, and she probably wouldn't be back until night...

I took a shower and got my laptop. I couldn't stand being unemployed for almost three months anymore, so I went a bit crazy and applied for several job openings in different countries, in different companies. It doesn't hurt to try, since I already have the 'no.'

I applied for several positions: cleaner... babysitter... waitress... secretary... among many others. I spent hours sending resumes... and when my fingers couldn't type anymore... I decided to make dinner because it was almost time for my mom and Ruby to arrive.

After Barbara adopted me, she decided to keep my last name, and my life became calmer and happier. They are everything to me... I do anything for them.

And one of my favorite hobbies is cooking... my special gift, if I may say so...

But my true passion is fighting and racing. I'm addicted to the adrenaline of being behind a wheel and racing aimlessly... I've already won some illegal races here in Italy, but my mother forbade me... If I went back to racing in illegal races, she would ground me for the rest of my life.

After an hour, I finish dinner... they arrive, all smiles.

BARBARA BENETTI – Hello, daughter, how was your day? Did you get anything?

GABRIELA ANTONELLA – Not yet, Mom... but I'll try again tomorrow... Hope is the last thing to die...

RUBY BENETTI – Don't worry, sister, everything will work out, you'll see... What a wonderful smell... You could open a restaurant, you cook so well.

GABRIELA ANTONELLA – Oh, I don't see myself doing that. I cook, but as a hobby to distract myself...

We had dinner, and after dinner, we watched a movie, drank some wine, and went to sleep.

And the salary wasn't so bad... A little less than my old job.

And I've never traveled. I informed the HR director, Soo-jin Hwang, of this, and she told me it wasn't a problem because the company would pay for my trip, and if possible, I would start on Monday, in 4 days...

I was to give my confirmation later because I have to talk to my mother and sister first about what they think.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little scared. I've never traveled anywhere, but I can't lose this opportunity, and it would be a great idea to leave this city and start over in a new job where nobody knows me...
