Episode 4

"Shall we order our favorite wine?" he asked, and I shook my head.

"If you want, you can order it for yourself, I'll have water." He looked at me for a few seconds, then took the menu and placed the order. He didn't let me choose; he thinks he knows everything about me, and I always let him.

Our dinner arrived, and we began to eat. While he drank his wine, I drank my water and forced myself to eat.

When we finished, they came to clear the plates. I took my purse and pulled out the papers they gave me at the hospital, placing them on the table. He looked at me, confused.

"What is this?"

"The result of our anniversary celebration." He took the documents in his hands and began to read. "Congratulations, you're going to be a dad," I said, and his jaw dropped so low I thought it would dislocate.

"Is this a joke?" he asked.

"Of course not, we're going to be parents, aren't you happy?" I questioned.

"I... I... No... I mean, yes, I'm very happy, but we've always been careful," he replied.

"We weren't that day, don't you remember? Besides, I've only been with you, you were my first and only man, you shouldn't have that reaction." He shuddered at my words.

"I'm sorry, my love, it's just, you took me by surprise, but I'm very happy." His voice sounded unsteady; I knew he was having a short circuit in his mind.

"That's great, my love, I was very worried. Now we have to think about how to talk to my parents and tell them, we also have to think about our engagement, the wedding, the honeymoon, where the birth will be, if it's a girl, what her name will be, and the same if it's a boy, buy a house, I want one with many rooms, so that my parents can live with us, I'm going to need a lot of help with our child, plus I know they'll be happy to be with their grandson or granddaughter." I kept chattering, wanting to make him desperate, but all I saw was fear in his eyes. I smiled at his expression.

"Stop, please, one step at a time, okay? Let's keep this secret for a few days." He made a brief pause. "No, no, for a few months, anyway, your belly is still very small, maybe we can wait about three more months," he proposed, and I smiled without emotion.

"I don't want to, my parents have to know, I've never hidden anything from them, besides, my mother is going to notice, my body is going to start changing and she can smell a pregnancy from miles away," I declared.

"Okay, we'll talk to your parents, but give me a few days, I need to organize some things, the rest can wait, right?" he asked again.

"Okay, I can wait, but not long, I don't want to leave my house without being married."

"Yes, yes, whatever you say, shall we go?" he asked out of nowhere.

"Where to?"

"I'll take you home, I remembered I have a meeting with a client, I have to be on time, I'm very sorry," he excused himself.

"Don't worry, if you want, I can take a taxi, you can go straight to your meeting," I offered, and he nodded and stood up.

"Okay, the bill is already paid, if you want to stay a little longer, order whatever you want, put it on my account." Without saying goodbye, he left the restaurant. I started laughing, then called the waiter.

"What are all those bags?" Yasemin asked when she saw me.

"Food, lots of food, expensive and delicious, want some?" I asked, and she narrowed her eyes.

"Don't tell me the idiot took the news well," she declared, and I shook my head.

"No, he ran away." I started laughing. "But before he left, he told me I could order whatever I wanted and put it on his account, and I did, I ordered the best cuts of meat, from lamb to veal, plus many typical dishes, come on, let's go, I don't want the food to get cold, your nephew or niece is hungry." I started walking towards my house, Yasemin ran and helped me with the bags.

We entered my house, my parents were having tea. As soon as they saw me, they were surprised by the bags I was carrying in my hands.

"Girl, what is all that?" my mother exclaimed.

"Food, Mom, your dear son-in-law sent a variety for you," I said, and my father scoffed.

"It wouldn't be good to waste it, that's a sin, besides, the food isn't to blame," my mom said and looked at my father.

"Okay, okay, you win, let's eat," he told us and then turned to Yasemin, "call Kurban, tell her to come eat with us, it's too much for the four of us." My friend nodded, took the phone and called her mom.

Minutes later, my aunt arrived. My mother had already arranged the food on the table. "By Allah, were you going to feed a battalion?" Kurban commented, and my mother laughed.

"No, our son-in-law sent us all this, you can eat whatever you want, you can even take some for your house." She settled down in the dining room, and we started to eat.

My cell phone vibrated suddenly, I looked at it quickly, I was enjoying the food.

📩 How many days had you gone without eating? Khan asked.

📩I had cravings, our child is already making a fuss, I replied.

📩Okay, but don't you think it was too much? 26,000 Liras in pure food?

📩Next time it will be in jewelry, are you going to deny food to the future mother of your child? I reproached.

"Put that cell phone away, it's bad manners, we're eating," my father scolded me, I apologized, but before I put it away, Khan wrote a new message.

📩Ok, I understand, enjoy your food, he finished, and I put the cell phone away.

We finished eating, there was still a lot left. My mother packed food for my aunt, and put the rest in our refrigerator.

"Thank you very much, with all that I ate, I'll be able to hibernate," Yasemin said.

"Wait for the tea, we don't want you to get indigestion," my mom commented.

"There's always room for your delicious tea," Kurban replied as she headed to the living room.

I prepared the tea and took it to them, Yasemin and I went for a walk while the adults stayed chatting about their things.
