As Elphaba walked back to her home, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't imagine. She had always felt like an outsider in the Emerald City, but her encounter with Madame Morrible had made her feel like she had finally found a place where she belonged.
When she arrived home, Elphaba's parents were waiting for her in the living room. Her father, Frex, looked stern and disapproving, while her mother, Melena, looked worried and anxious.
"Elphaba, where have you been all along?" Frex asked, his voice firm and commanding.
"I was just out for a w..w......walk, Father," Elphaba replied, trying to sound innocent.
"A walk?" Frex repeated, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "At this time of night? Alone?"
Elphaba hesitated, unsure of how to respond. She knew that her father wouldn't approve of her visiting Madame Morrible's shop, and she didn't want to lie to him.
"I was just exploring the city, Father," Elphaba said finally, trying to sound convincing. "I wanted to see what it was like at night."She said passionately.
Frex looked at her skeptically, but Melena intervened before he could say anything else.
"Elphaba, dear, you need to be careful," Melena said, her voice soft and gentle. "The city can be a dangerous place, especially at night."
Elphaba nodded, feeling a pang of guilt for worrying her parents.
"I'll be more careful, Mother," Elphaba promised. "I promise."
Frex looked at her sternly, but Melena smiled and put a hand on Elphaba's shoulder as Elphaba shed tears
"We just want what's best for you, dear," Melena said. "We want you to be happy and safe."
Elphaba nodded, feeling a surge of love and gratitude for her parents. She knew that they didn't always understand her, but she also knew that they loved her and wanted what was best for her.
As the night wore on, Elphaba couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't imagine. She felt restless and anxious, like she was waiting for something to happen.
And then, just as she was drifting off to sleep, Elphaba heard a faint knock at the door. She got out of bed and crept to the window, pulling back the curtain to see who it was.
To her surprise, it was Madame Morrible, standing in the shadows and beckoning to Elphaba.
"Come with me, child, I’ve got something to show you." Madame Morrible whispered, her voice barely audible. "It's time for you to begin your journey."
Elphaba hesitated for a moment, wondering what Madame Morrible had in store for her. But then she felt a surge of excitement and curiosity, and she knew that she had to follow Madame Morrible, no matter where she was being led to.
And with that, Elphaba slipped out of the house and into the night, following Madame Morrible into a world of magic and wonder that she had never imagined in her life.
