Someone knocked on my door.
I was just slumped on the couch in my apartment. I groaned as I heard someone knocking on my door. I didn't feel like talking to anyone right now, but the knocking continued, and I couldn't ignore it. I dragged myself off the couch and shuffled towards the door. I opened it, my eyes blurry.
Lin: "Oh my god, what happened to you? You know I was worried sick! You've been off the radar for a week. The boss even asked me why you weren't coming to the cafe."
I let out a heavy sigh and went back to the couch, sitting down. I looked exhausted and worn out because I hadn't been able to sleep or eat properly in a week.
"I know... I just wanted to be alone right now... things have been rough..."
She followed me.
Lin: "What do you mean you want to be alone and things are rough? You know I was worried about you! You weren't answering my calls or my messages. And what happened to your apartment? It looks like a tornado hit it."
I stared up at the ceiling for a moment, trying to find the words to explain what just happened.
"I'm sorry for ignoring your calls and messages. I just couldn't deal with anyone right now."
Lin: "But why...?"
"He cheated on me."
Lin: "W-what? Kairos cheated on you?"
I nodded at her.
"It turns out everything... everything I thought we had... wasn't real. It was all a game to him. He didn't love me... he just used me and was just playing with me the whole time."
"I was so stupid... I thought he really cared about me, but it was all just a game to him. I don't know why I was so stupid, so blind to the truth. You know the worst part? I still love him. Even after everything he did to me, I can't get rid of my feelings for him. It's like this stupid heart of mine just won't listen to my brain..."
She sat beside me, and I felt her hand rubbing my back.
I burst into sobs. The weight of everything I had been bottling up inside me finally came out.
"I just can't believe I was so stupid. I gave him everything, my heart, my trust, everything, and he just threw it all away like it was nothing." I sobbed.
Lin: "That jerk! How dare he cheat on you! If I ever see him, even if he's the mafia boss's son, I'll kill him! Stop crying, he's not worth your tears."
"I want to... but these damn tears won't stop."
Lin: "I know what to do to get you out of this funk."
I looked at her, my eyes slightly red and puffy from crying, but I listened to her.
"What is it?"
Lin: "Come with me to the club tonight. My friends are having a cross-dressing party."
"Party? Cross-dressing?"
She nodded at me.
Lin: "Don't you know what cross-dressing is? It's just that you'll be wearing women's clothes. It'll suit you, you look like a girl anyway. And it's better than moping around here."
I considered Lin's suggestion. Going out was better than sitting around feeling sorry for myself, and dressing up could be a fun distraction, at least for a night. I had dressed up before for a school event, but only once. I wiped away my tears.
"Ahm, okay."
Lin: "That's the spirit! Don't stay cooped up here. He's not worth it."
"What time?"
Lin: "7 pm. I'll text you later about which bar."
I nodded at her.
Time Skip
I arrived and spotted Lin at the entrance.
I walked up to her.
"I'm sorry I'm a bit late. Traffic was bad, and this dress is a bit tight." I said to her, feeling self-conscious.
She looked me up and down.
Lin: "Z-Zein?"
I nodded at her, a bit under Lin's gaze, feeling self-conscious.
"Does it look okay?" I asked, smoothing the dress nervously.
Lin: "Oh my god, you look amazing! Seriously!"
"No, I'm nervous... I'm really nervous about wearing this, especially in public." I said nervously.
Lin: "You're nervous about this? Seriously, you look amazing! I barely recognized you. I told you, you'd look great in a dress and with a wig. You look so much like a girl, so sexy. Oh, by the way, my friends are inside. Let's go, they're waiting for us. I'll introduce you to them." She pulled me inside the club.
As we entered the club, the music and atmosphere enveloped us. The place was really crowded with people dancing and drinking. I looked around, feeling a bit out of place and nervous under everyone's gaze.
A few people in the club were staring at me. I swallowed, trying not to look nervous. Lin waved and led me to her friends. There were seven of them, four of them wearing dresses and three of them wearing clothes like Lin's.
Lin: "Guys, this is my friend Zein. Zein, these are my friends."
I looked up at them, feeling a bit nervous. I smiled and nodded, unsure of what to say.
Lin: "The ones wearing dresses are gay, by the way." She whispered to me.
Lin's friends smiled at me.
"You look great in that dress. You have a true beauty by a girl." said one of Lin's friends.
Lin: "I told her, right?"
Few Hours
The night progressed, and the drinks started to flow. I was feeling a bit tipsy and carefree now, the alcohol swirling in me. The music was loud, the atmosphere was electric, and I found myself dancing, having a good time, dancing and laughing with Lin's friends. I forgot about being heartbroken and the reason I was even here.
I stumbled off the dance floor, feeling a wave of nausea wash over me. I clutched my stomach, trying to keep my balance.
I made my way through the crowded club, desperately searching for the bathroom. I could feel the alcohol churning in my stomach. I needed to go to the bathroom. Gosh, my head hurts. I feel dizzy. I was holding my head and my stomach.
But suddenly, someone pulled me into a dark room.
