Chapter 8:Wake up Child

Melissa laid on the bed asleep,chest heaving up and down slowly,her face peaceful and calm.

Sofia entered the room to check on her,it had been two days and she was still unconscious making her worried and confused on what to do.

She couldn't take her to the hospital knowing fully well if her secret came out to be know those greedy people would want to use her as text subjects.

"Wake up child, please"Sofia mumbled softly caressing Melissa's golden hair which was silky and smooth to the touch leaving her surprised.

Melissa shifted uncomfortably on the bed,a frown on her face,she slowly opened her eyes which she shut back due to the Intensity of the light...

" Where's this,did she die?was she perphas in heaven"Melissa thought but frozed hearing a voice she hadn't heard before.

" It's okay child you can open your eyes now"Sofia looked at the mermaid on the bed with amusement.

Melissa blink twice before her eyes adjusted to the lightness of the room,she slowly turned her head to look at Sofia blinking her eyes as she stared curiously at Sofia who stared right back.

" Do you want to eat"...

Melissa shook her head in disapproval but who knew her stomach would turn on her grumbling to be fed leaving her embarrassed.

Sofia chuckled lightly seeing her dazed look before ordering the maids to prepare some meal for her.

"Can you talk".

"...."

Sofia seems to stare at her before slowly using her hands for demonstration.

" Can you hear me, can't you talk dear".

Melissa pursed her lips into thin like not knowing if she could trust her .

" Y..you can trust me ,no harm will come to you".

"Melissa sighed counting her stars for learning whenever Derek came from his outing.

" I can hear,but can't speak because I met with a little accident".

Sofia was stunned seeing her fast movement,fora mermaid she sure knew how to communicate.was she perphas living on land.

" Okay then can you write".

Melissa blinked twitching her lips in annoyance," what was this woman saying?of course she could write both in the human language and mermaid language,she was being taught by Derek back in the sea without anybody's knowledge".

" Yes".

Melissa nodded,Sofia heaved in relief,and watch the maid placed a tray of hot porridge on the bed.

Sofia took a spoon blowing away the hot steam to cool it down, Melissa looked at her warily.

" Eat up you will need your strength"

Sofia said, Melissa stared at the strange looking metal which held a small portion of porridge before seeping it.

Melissa had a look on her face as she eyed the porridge hungrily making Sofia smiled and continue to feed her.

Mr Gold who came out and back from the gym to check on his wife didn't see her in the room.

" Honey?...

Going downstairs he called the butler.

" Where's my wife ".

" Madam is in the guest room taking care of the girl".

" Okay then you're dismissed "Mr Gold waved the butler away as he made his way to the guest room and saw the scene of Melissa getting fed by Sofia having an amused look on her face.

Mr Gold watched how his wife fed the girl, feeding her medicine and putting her to sleep.

"Sleep tight"

Sofia kissed Melissa's forehead she felt her stiffened before she relax falling asleep.

"Oh...honey when did you get back"Sofia said softly to lower he voice from disturbing Melissa's rest.

" How's she ?...

" She will be fine,I guess but I don't think she can talk"

Mr Gold eyes looked at the sleeping girl on the bed his eyesbrow raised in questioning tone as he stared at his wife.

" Let's talk in the room".

" Okay"

The couple walked towards there room to discuss about Melissa,but not before Mr Gold gave strict orders to the butler than no one must go near the guest room for whatsoever reason nor disturb the girl sleeping.

" Yes sir,I will get it done right away"

The butler replied leaving to carry out the instructions given.

" Honey I will be leaving in two days time".

" WHAT!!!!

Mr Gold was flaggerbasted as he stared at him wife with wide eyes..

" She hasn't even spent her two week vacation yet she had just spend seven days and she was already thinking of leaving".

Mr Gold lamented grumpily but Sofia next words made him freeze.

" And I will be taking the girl along with me to get some people's dirty paw of her,less she get involved in there funny business which I won't like at all".

" This was seriously so unfair".

Talia was busy getting ready for the day when Lydia barged into her shell.

" Mother what is it why did you barge into my space ".

Lydia looked at her daughter coldly before asking in a low voice.

" Talia I would ask you one last time,do you have anything to do with Melissa getting banished".

Talia grew silent for a few seconds staring back at Lydia who gave her a hard glance making her uncomfortable.

" What do you mean ,what do I have to do with a commoner who's a threat to us all".

" Repeat that nonsense and I will give you a slap".

"...."

Talia kept quiet but a frown etch on her face.

" Just pray,pray to the gods you have nothing to do with Melissa's getting cast of else you will regret it".
