Chapter 5: Embracing the Future

Meera stared at the email from the publishing house, her heart pounding with excitement. This was the moment she had been waiting for—not for love to return, not for closure from the past, but for a chance to step into her own dreams.

For years, she had written articles, essays, and stories, always wondering if her words would ever find a bigger platform. And now, the opportunity was right in front of her.

She quickly typed out a response:

"Thank you for reaching out. I’d love to discuss this further. Looking forward to the meeting."

As she hit send, she felt something shift inside her—a newfound confidence, a quiet certainty that she was exactly where she was meant to be.

A Familiar Name, A Different Feeling

Later that evening, as she scrolled through her phone, she noticed a missed call from Rohan.

For a moment, she hesitated. Should she call back? Should she let it be?

A year ago, she would have panicked at a missed call from him, her emotions swinging between hope and anxiety. But now, she just felt… at peace.

She sent a simple message instead:

"I saw your call. Hope everything’s okay."

He replied quickly.

"I just wanted to hear your voice. I’ve been thinking about you a lot."

Meera sighed. Nostalgia had a way of making people remember only the good parts of the past. But she knew better now.

She typed her response carefully.

"I’ll always cherish what we had, Rohan. But I think we’ve both grown in different directions. And that’s okay."

There was a long pause before his reply came.

"I understand. I just wanted to say I’m sorry… for everything."

A small smile touched her lips. She had once longed to hear those words, but now, she realized she didn’t need them to move forward.

"I forgave you a long time ago. Take care, Rohan."

She put her phone down, knowing that this time, it truly was the end of that chapter.

A New Beginning

The following week, Meera had her first meeting with the publishing house. Sitting across from the editor, she felt nervous but excited.

“We loved your writing,” the editor said. “Your words have depth, emotion, and a sense of realness. Have you ever considered writing a book?”

Meera blinked in surprise. A book?

She had always dreamed of it but had never been sure if she was ready.

But now?

Now, she was ready for anything.

“I have an idea,” she said, her mind already racing with possibilities.

As she walked out of the meeting, the city lights glowing around her, she felt something she hadn’t felt in a long time.

Hope. Excitement. A future that was entirely hers to create.

And for the first time in years, she wasn’t waiting for anyone.

She was moving forward—on her own terms.

("Waiting for You")

Verse 1

The sun fades slow, the sky turns blue,

But every night, I dream of you.

A thousand miles, a world apart,

Still, you’re the echo in my heart.

I trace your name in falling rain,

Wonder if you feel the same.

No matter how long, no matter how far,

I’ll be right here where you are.

Chorus

I’m waiting for you, through the night,

Through every star, through every light.

No matter how long, no matter the pain,

I’d wait a lifetime, I’d wait again.

I’m holding on, I won’t let go,

Someday soon, I know you’ll know.

I’m waiting for you, I always will,

Until my heart is finally still.

Verse 2

I hear your voice in whispered dreams,

A memory wrapped in moonlit beams.

Time moves slow, but I won’t break,

This love is real, it’s not a mistake.

Maybe tomorrow, maybe today,

You’ll find your way back, you’ll choose to stay.

But until then, I stand alone,

With hope as strong as the love we’ve known.

Chorus

I’m waiting for you, through the night,

Through every star, through every light.

No matter how long, no matter the pain,

I’d wait a lifetime, I’d wait again.

I’m holding on, I won’t let go,

Someday soon, I know you’ll know.

I’m waiting for you, I always will,

Until my heart is finally still.

Bridge

No distance can steal what’s true,

I’ll keep believing in me and you.

Even if the seasons change,

My heart for you will stay the same.

Chorus (repeat)

I’m waiting for you, through the night,

Through every star, through every light.

No matter how long, no matter the pain,

I’d wait a lifetime, I’d wait again.

I’m holding on, I won’t let go,

Someday soon, I know you’ll know.

I’m waiting for you, I always will,

Until my heart is finally still.

Outro

So here I stand, beneath the moon,

Hoping you’ll come back soon.
