My Top Husband
Episode 4
Trip stretched his arms, cracking his fingers as he stared at the blank digital canvas in front of him. Designing character models wasn’t new to him, but the pressure of Sanzo’s watchful eye made it feel different. He’d barely been at his desk for an hour, but he could already feel the weight of expectations.
"Alright," he muttered, rolling his shoulders. "Time to impress—or at least not get fired on day one."
He picked up his stylus and got to work. His fingers moved swiftly, sketching out the rough framework of a character. The game project Sanzo had assigned him to was an action RPG, and the main character had to be dynamic. Strong, stylish, and full of personality.
Trip was so focused that he didn’t notice someone approaching until a voice spoke beside him.
"That’s… interesting."
Trip glanced up to see Ren, Sanzo’s assistant, peering over his shoulder.
"Interesting?" Trip repeated, raising an eyebrow. "That’s just a polite way of saying, ‘this is trash,’ huh?"
Ren chuckled. "Not at all. It’s just different from what our usual artists create. More expressive."
Trip grinned. "That’s because I have personality. Unlike a certain boss we both know."
Ren smiled but said nothing. Instead, he handed Trip a tablet. "Sanzo wants to see your initial drafts in an hour."
Trip groaned dramatically. "What, already? You guys work fast here."
"Efficiency is key at this company," Ren said with a knowing look. "And Mr. Sanzo doesn’t tolerate delays."
Trip huffed but got back to work, refining his sketch. Time flew as he added details—sharp armor lines, a confident smirk on the character’s face, and a sleek weapon design. He was just about satisfied when a familiar, cold voice interrupted him.
"Let me see it."
Trip turned to find Sanzo standing behind him, arms crossed. His piercing gaze locked onto the screen like he was ready to dissect every flaw.
Trip shrugged. "Behold, my masterpiece." He spun his chair slightly, gesturing dramatically toward his screen.
Sanzo leaned in, studying the artwork. His expression didn’t change, but Trip could feel the tension.
Seconds passed.
More seconds.
Trip finally sighed. "Okay, either you love it so much you’re speechless, or you’re mentally firing me."
Sanzo straightened. "It’s not bad."
Trip blinked. "Not bad? That’s it? No ‘wow, Trip, you’re a genius’? No applause?"
Sanzo gave him a blank stare. "Do you want feedback or just compliments?"
Trip rolled his eyes. "Fine, fine. Lay it on me, boss."
Sanzo pointed at the character’s pose. "The stance needs to be stronger. Right now, it’s too relaxed for a warrior-type. Adjust the shoulder angles."
Trip raised an eyebrow. "You draw?"
Sanzo didn’t answer. "Also, the weapon design is too bulky. It’ll slow down the animation process. Streamline it."
Trip stared at him for a second, then smirked. "Huh. So you do have an eye for detail. I thought you just bossed people around."
Sanzo ignored the jab. "Fix these and send the updated version to Ren before the end of the day."
Trip leaned back, grinning. "You got it, bossman."
Sanzo narrowed his eyes slightly but turned on his heel and walked away.
As soon as he was gone, Trip let out a breath.
"Damn," he muttered. "This guy really is a perfectionist."
But something about the way Sanzo had analyzed his art intrigued him. It wasn’t just about being strict—he cared about the project.
Trip smirked to himself.
This job might be more fun than I thought.
