Chapter 4: It was just a Kiss

The party was still in full swing, music vibrating through the walls, but Hyunjin wasn’t paying attention to any of it. His eyes had been locked onto Felix for the past half hour—specifically, the way Felix and Jihan kept laughing together. The way Jihan kept leaning in too close, whispering things in Felix’s ear that made him giggle.

Hyunjin’s grip on his drink tightened.

The stupid game was still going. Jihan had been pulling dare after dare, and each one somehow involved Felix. Whether it was making him dance, making him drink, or making him sit on someone’s lap—it was always Felix.

And Felix, being the oblivious idiot he was, just went along with it, completely unaware of the way Jihan was looking at him. Completely unaware of how much it was pissing Hyunjin off.

Felix." His voice was sharp. "Let’s go."

Felix blinked. "Huh?"

"Home. Now."

The room fell quiet for a moment, all eyes flicking between them. Felix frowned, confused. "Wait, what? Why? The party isn’t even—"

Hyunjin grabbed Felix’s wrist, pulling him up from the couch. "I don’t care. We’re leaving."

Felix, too startled to argue, let himself be dragged toward the door. "Hyunjin, what the hell—"

Jihan quickly stood up, forcing a chuckle. "Hey, man, chill. Felix can stay if he wants."

Hyunjin shot him a glare so cold that even Jihan looked caught off guard. "He’s coming with me."

Felix yanked his wrist free, glaring at Hyunjin. "Dude, what is your problem?!"

Hyunjin didn’t answer. He just turned, storming out the door.

Felix let out an exasperated sigh before looking back at Jihan apologetically. "I—ugh. I’ll text you later."

And with that, he ran after Hyunjin, his heart pounding with frustration.

...----------------...

The ride home was silent—too silent. Felix leaned against the car window, watching the streetlights blur past, while Hyunjin sat stiffly in the driver’s seat, gripping the steering wheel a little too tightly. Every time the car slowed at a red light, Felix could see Hyunjin’s jaw clenching, his expression dark.

Felix shifted uncomfortably. "Uh... Are you okay?" he finally asked, glancing at Hyunjin.

Hyunjin didn’t answer. He just pressed harder on the accelerator when the light turned green, making the car jerk forward slightly.

Felix frowned. "Okay, what’s with the attitude? You’ve been acting weird ever since we left the party.”

Still, no response.

Felix huffed, rolling his eyes. "Seriously, Hyunjin. If you’re mad about the dare—"

Hyunjin let out a humorless laugh, shaking his head. "Mad? Why would I be mad?" His voice was laced with sarcasm, but Felix caught the edge of something deeper beneath it.

Felix crossed his arms. "That’s what I’m asking! You’ve been sulking ever since we kissed—wait." He paused, squinting at Hyunjin. "Wait a second... Are you mad because of the kiss?"

Hyunjin’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. His silence was answer enough.

Felix scoffed. "Oh, come on! It was just a game! It didn't mean anything. Just two lips touching, that’s it!"

The car swerved slightly as Hyunjin hit the brakes harder than necessary, pulling into the driveway of their house. Felix barely had time to react before Hyunjin unbuckled his seatbelt and got out, slamming the door shut behind him.

Felix blinked in disbelief. "Oh, for—what is wrong with you?" he groaned, getting out of the car and chasing after him.

Inside the house, Hyunjin kicked off his shoes and marched toward his room, but Felix wasn’t about to let him escape that easily. He grabbed Hyunjin’s wrist, forcing him to stop. "Hey! I’m talking to you!"

Hyunjin turned sharply, his face unreadable. "And I don’t feel like talking."

Felix threw his hands in the air. "Then stop acting like a child and tell me what your problem is!"

For a moment, they just stared at each other, tension thick between them. Felix could see something burning in Hyunjin’s gaze, something raw and unspoken, but before he could make sense of it, Hyunjin pulled his wrist free and walked into his room, slamming the door shut behind him.

Felix stood there, baffled.

"...What the hell is his problem?" he muttered under his breath.

Just a kiss. Just a game. Why was Hyunjin acting like it was anything more?
