Chapter 3: Gourmet Food & Grand Theft Omelette

Su Yan stood outside the entrance of the Imperial Dragon Hotel, staring at the golden doors like a beggar peering into a royal feast.

The place screamed rich people only.

A man in a suit walked out, chatting on his phone about "diversifying his assets." A woman in a designer dress breezed past, holding a tiny dog that probably ate meals more expensive than Su Yan’s monthly rent.

Su Yan gulped.

“System, are you sure about this?”

[Yes.]

"Just checking."

This wasn’t just sneaking into a hotel—this was an elite, five-star, security-guard-filled hotel. If he got caught, he wouldn’t just be humiliated; he’d be thrown out like trash.

But... ¥3,000 was a lot.

His wallet was emptier than his fridge. His stomach rumbled, reminding him that his last meal had been a single cracker.

He took a deep breath. Alright. Time to become a criminal.

Step 1: Dress the Part.

Su Yan dusted off his slightly wrinkled shirt, slicked his hair back with spit (ew, but desperate times), and adopted a confident posture. Rich people walk like they own the world.

Step 2: Blend In.

He strode through the entrance with his best I belong here expression. A bellboy nodded at him, and Su Yan nodded back, trying not to sweat.

So far, so good.

Step 3: Find the Buffet.

Following the scent of fresh croissants, he navigated through a grand hallway into a dining area that looked straight out of a palace.

Tables were lined with golden plates. Waiters in suits moved gracefully between guests. And the food—dear god, the food.

A long buffet table overflowed with fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, fruit platters, freshly baked pastries, and even a chef making omelets to order.

Su Yan’s stomach growled so loudly that a nearby waiter gave him a weird look.

Act cool, act cool...

He grabbed a plate and piled on food like a man who had just escaped a famine. Scrambled eggs? Yes. Bacon? Yes. Smoked salmon? Hell yes.

Just as he was about to take his first glorious bite—

“Excuse me, sir.”

A voice like doom itself rang behind him.

Su Yan turned slowly, already praying to whatever gods existed.

A tall, no-nonsense security guard loomed over him. “Can I see your room key?”

Su Yan’s brain short-circuited.

Abort mission.

"...Room key?" he repeated dumbly.

The guard folded his arms. “Yes. Hotel guests only.”

Su Yan's life flashed before his eyes.

Then, the system chimed.

[Emergency Mission Activated: Escape with at Least One Plate of Food! (Reward: ¥1,000)]

"..."

The next three minutes were a blur.

Su Yan grabbed his plate, threw a croissant at the guard’s face, and RAN.

"STOP THAT MAN!"

Guests gasped. A waiter screamed. Someone spilled their champagne.

With French toast in one hand and dignity long gone, Su Yan sprinted through the hotel like a fugitive, dodging furniture and security alike.

He crashed through the exit, skidded onto the street—

[Mission Complete! ¥4,000 added to balance.]

Panting, he stuffed an entire muffin into his mouth and collapsed onto a park bench.

"I hate this system so much."

Little did he know, the next mission was already waiting.

And it was even worse.
