MrBro - Episode 4: The Movie Project and The Setback
Backstory Recap:
Ethan Parker (MrBro), aka MrBro, has been on his YouTube journey for a few weeks now. Despite facing harsh criticism and a few setbacks, he continues to push forward. His latest video was about attempting the “Ghost Pepper Challenge,” and while it got a bit more attention, he’s still far from the level of success he dreams of. But in this episode, Ethan tries to take a big leap in his YouTube career by making a movie with the help of a very rich friend and a classmate.
Episode 4: The Movie Project and The Setback
Opening Scene:
Ethan is sitting at his desk, looking at his YouTube dashboard on his computer. The numbers are low—really low. His new “Ghost Pepper” video barely hit 50 views in the first two days. He sighs in frustration, feeling like his efforts are in vain.
Ethan: “Why does it feel like no one’s watching? I’ve been working so hard for this.”
His phone rings, interrupting his thoughts. It’s a message from Tyler, his rich friend. Tyler’s been known for having a lot of influence at school, and recently, he’s started hanging out with Ethan more. Tyler’s family is wealthy, and he has access to all kinds of resources that Ethan could only dream of.
Text Message from Tyler:
“Hey bro, I’ve got an idea. Let’s make a movie. I’ll help with the budget, and we can get some people to star in it. Let’s make it big!”
Ethan looks at the message, wide-eyed. This is the break he’s been waiting for. He immediately texts back.
Ethan (texting): “YES, let’s do it! What’s the movie about?”
The Movie Project:
The next day, Ethan meets up with Tyler and his classmate Sophie, a creative-minded girl who’s been working on her own short films in the school’s media club. Tyler pitches the idea for the movie:
Movie Name: “The Last Heist”
Plot:
The movie is about a group of teenagers who band together to pull off a daring heist—a heist to steal a valuable, one-of-a-kind item from a rich businessman (played by Tyler’s dad). But things go wrong as they get tangled in a web of lies, betrayal, and unexpected twists. The story focuses on themes of friendship, trust, and the consequences of bad decisions.
Ethan: “This sounds awesome! So, what do I do? Write the script?”
Tyler: “You got it, man. I’ll handle the money, the crew, and the equipment. Sophie and I will help you with directing. It’ll be a full production!”
Ethan is beyond excited. This could be his big break. He’s going to make a movie, and his friends are going to help him make it a reality. They spend the next few days working on the script, brainstorming ideas for scenes, and organizing the filming schedule.
Filming Begins:
After a week of preparation, the crew is ready. They shoot scenes in Tyler’s family mansion, and Ethan gets to play one of the main roles—a character who’s the mastermind behind the heist. Sophie handles the camera work, and Tyler uses his family’s money to rent high-end equipment. It’s an experience like nothing Ethan has ever had before.
As they film, things seem to be going smoothly. The production looks high-quality. But, behind the scenes, Ethan can’t shake the feeling of doubt. He knows the movie is a big project, and it could be the turning point for his YouTube channel. Still, he feels like something is missing—like the audience he’s targeting won’t connect with it.
The New Video: “Making a Movie with My Friends (Behind the Scenes)”
Ethan decides to make a Behind-the-Scenes video of the movie-making process, thinking it will be a fun way to show his subscribers what goes into creating something this big.
The video includes clips of the crew setting up the scenes, Ethan acting out his role, Sophie directing, and Tyler managing the equipment. The video title is:
“Making a Movie with My Rich Friend! (Behind the Scenes of ‘The Last Heist’)”
Ethan adds a description:
“Hey guys! Today we’re making a movie! Huge thanks to my friends Tyler and Sophie for helping me create ‘The Last Heist,’ a crazy adventure about a group of teenagers trying to steal something valuable. Check out our behind-the-scenes footage and see how we’re doing it!”
He’s excited as he uploads the video, hoping it will get some attention. But once the video is live, Ethan checks the view count and is immediately discouraged.
The Disappointing Results:
After the first few hours, the video has only 35 views, and the comments are mostly silent. No one seems interested in the behind-the-scenes footage, and Ethan feels disheartened.
Ethan (thinking): “Why isn’t anyone watching? I thought this was going to be huge.”
He spends the next few hours scrolling through the comments and sees some negative ones mixed in with a few supportive messages. He feels discouraged. The dream of making it big on YouTube feels farther away than ever.
The Conversation with Tyler and Sophie:
Later, Ethan calls Tyler to talk about the disappointing response.
Ethan: “Hey, Tyler. The behind-the-scenes video didn’t get as much attention as I thought it would. I don’t know, man, I’m feeling like this isn’t going anywhere.”
Tyler (laughing): “Hey, don’t worry about it, man. Movies take time. We just need to keep pushing. But maybe you should think about doing something else on the side to get your views up. Don’t give up on the movie, though.”
Sophie (on speakerphone): “Exactly. Sometimes, it takes a while to build an audience. You’ve gotta stay persistent, Ethan.”
Ethan feels a little better hearing their words, but deep down, he knows he has a long road ahead. His subscribers are low—only about 150 subscribers—and his dreams of YouTube stardom seem far off.
Ending Scene:
As Ethan lies in bed, looking at his phone, he sees a new notification: “You gained 1 subscriber.” It’s a small victory, but it’s something.
Ethan (thinking to himself): “It’s not a lot, but it’s a start. I can’t quit now. I’ll just keep trying, one video at a time.”
With renewed determination, Ethan gets up and starts brainstorming his next idea. He may not be getting the views he wants right now, but he knows he’s not giving up.
Screen fades to black.
TO BE CONTINUED…
This episode shows Ethan’s struggles with the reality of YouTube, the challenges of making a big project with limited success, and the discouragement he feels when the numbers don’t reflect his hard work.
