Episode 4: "Wheel of Fate"
The episode begins with the survivors returning to their dormitory after the brutal encounters of the previous night. The air is thick with tension, and the mood is somber. The remaining players exchange wary glances, their trust in one another eroding as the reality of the situation sets in.
As they sit in the dimly lit room, the loudspeaker crackles again, signaling the announcement of the next challenge.
The Game Announcement
Announcer (robotic voice): "Players, it is time for your next challenge. Please proceed to the game area. The rules are simple: You will spin the wheel, and it will select your challenge. Complete it successfully, and you will continue. Fail, and you will be eliminated. There is no second chance. Good luck."
The players exchange uneasy looks, unsure of what to expect. Seok, Jihoon, and Jiwon lead the group toward the game area, their faces set with determination. The others follow, nervously glancing around.
As they enter the room, they find a massive, intimidating wheel in the center of the space, surrounded by large, colored sections. Each section represents a different challenge, and the stakes are high. The wheel is accompanied by a loud, mechanical voice that explains the rules further.
Announcer: "Each of you will take turns spinning the wheel. When it stops, you will face the challenge it lands on. Fail to complete the challenge, and you will be eliminated."
The players stand in a circle, the wheel spinning slowly before it comes to a complete stop.
The Challenges Begin
Player 123 – Jiwon is the first to spin the wheel. The massive wheel groans as it turns, the colorful sections blurring together before finally stopping.
Announcer: "Challenge: Balance the Beam. You must cross a narrow beam suspended high above the ground. If you fall, you die."
The players gasp as a narrow beam appears in the middle of the room, hovering several feet off the ground. The tension is palpable as Jiwon steps onto the beam, his balance steady despite the height. The crowd watches in silence as he slowly makes his way across. With each step, the beam wobbles slightly, but Jiwon maintains his composure.
Jihoon (whispering): "He’s good. He can do this."
Jiwon reaches the end of the beam and steps off, breathing a sigh of relief. The room erupts in a mix of applause and nervous laughter. Jiwon has completed the challenge.
The Next Player: Seok
Next, Seok steps forward, spinning the wheel with a confident grin. The wheel spins and spins before landing on a new challenge.
Announcer: "Challenge: Silent Scream. You must scream at the top of your lungs, but no sound must escape. If any sound is made, you will be eliminated."
The players look confused, unsure of how to approach the challenge. A soundproof box appears in front of Seok, and he steps inside, determined to prove his strength. Inside the box, Seok opens his mouth, his face contorting with effort as he screams, but no sound emerges.
The players wait, the silence deafening. Seok’s face reddens as he continues to try, his frustration building. Finally, after what feels like an eternity, Seok’s face clears, and he steps out of the box, victorious.
Seok: "Easy."
The players watch, their faces a mix of admiration and fear. Seok’s confidence is unnerving, and it’s clear he will stop at nothing to win.
The Third Player: Jihoon
Next up is Jihoon, who spins the wheel with a weary expression. The wheel slows to a stop, and the challenge is revealed.
Announcer: "Challenge: Tug of Fate. You will face off against another player in a tug-of-war. The rope will be electrified. Fail to win, and you will be eliminated."
Jihoon looks around the room, his gaze meeting Seok’s. Both men are strong, but Jihoon knows that Seok is ruthless.
Jihoon (to Seok): "I won’t go easy on you."
Seok grins, clearly enjoying the challenge. The two players take their positions on opposite sides of the tug-of-war rope, their hands gripping tightly. The rope crackles with electricity, and both players prepare themselves for the intense battle ahead.
The announcer signals the start of the game, and both men begin pulling with all their strength. The electricity running through the rope is intense, sending painful shocks through both players, but neither is willing to give up. Sweat pours down Jihoon’s face as he digs deep, using every ounce of his strength.
Finally, with a last surge of effort, Jihoon pulls the rope hard, and Seok stumbles forward, losing his grip. Jihoon wins the challenge, and Seok falls to the ground, panting and furious.
Seok (gritting his teeth): "You’ll regret that, Jihoon."
Jihoon stands over him, exhausted but victorious, a small smile on his face.
The Final Challenge: Player 67
The last player to spin the wheel is Player 67, a young woman who has been silently observing the others. She nervously spins the wheel, and it lands on a chilling challenge.
Announcer: "Challenge: The Gauntlet. You must run through a series of deadly obstacles. If you fail to survive, you will be eliminated."
The players gasp as The Gauntlet is revealed: a series of deadly traps—spinning blades, fire jets, and obstacles designed to kill anyone who dares to attempt the challenge. Player 67 hesitates, her face pale with fear.
Player 67: "I... I can’t do this."
The players watch in silence as she steps forward, her steps shaky. She narrowly avoids a spinning blade but slips, falling into a pit of spikes. The camera focuses on her body as it crumples, blood spilling onto the floor.
Announcer: "Player 67 has been eliminated."
The survivors stand in stunned silence, the weight of the loss settling over them.
The Aftermath
As the game concludes, the players stand in silence, reflecting on the horrors they’ve just witnessed. Jiwon, Seok, and Jihoon are the only ones to have survived the challenges.
Jihoon (to Seok): "You can kill, you can cheat, but you’ll never win without real strength."
Seok (grinning): "We’ll see about that, old man."
The camera zooms out, showing the bloodied, chaotic room. The players are left with nothing but their will to survive—and the terrifying knowledge that the next game could be even worse.
