In a dawn

Knock!! Knock!! Knock!!

The continuously knocking sound resonance in her room and waking her up from her deep slumber. She can heard Alyse voice calling her name repeatedly in a low tone. Calista rub her sleepy eyes and took her alarm on the bedside table and check on time. It was 3 in the morning!! why would Alyse wake her up so early. She get down from her bed and walk lazily towards the door.

She twist the door knob and pull it only to pop her head out. "It was 3 in the morni.." she stop in midway when she realize that Alyse not there. She walk out and turn her head left and right only to see a dim light along the hallway. There's no one there and it was silent. She really sure she heard a knocking sound and Alyse voice calling her name a minute ago. 'What happen??'

She walk back inside her room and close the door behind. 'Am I dreaming?' she thought and scratch her head. She climb back to her bed, placed herself in comfortable position and pull her blanket up to her neck. It was colder than usual. She turn back and forth more than once but she couldn't sleep. After half an hour struggling she decided to wake up.

She sit on her bed and removed her blanket. She move her leg down and let it dangling to the bedside. After a while, a strange feeling come to her sense and made her turn her head to her side. She gasp to the sight. The old mirror that Alyse took away this morning are stood on the floor with backed to the wall. Exactly in a place where it was before as if Alyse never move it out.

The eerie feeling spread through her blood vessel and rushed to her head. She feel her heart pounding hard in her chest. 'Did Alyse put it back here?.. or uncle Hermen did?' she try to remember what Alyse say about the mirror and convince herself that it was only a coincidence, nothing more.

She took a courage and get down from her bed. Her trembling hand clenched tightly to her nightgown. She walk hesitantly towards the mirror. She lowered her eyes, prepared to whatever appear in front of her. She stop right in front the mirror and took a deep breath to soothe her anxiety.

She took a quick glance into the mirror but found nothing strange. So she decide to take a look for a second time. She raise her eyes slowly and saw nothing unusual. She move her hand up and down and the reflection did the same. 'so.. it just my imagination.' chuckled, she kneel down and stared to her face.

It feels strange as if the other side of the mirror was speaking to her. She reach her hand to the surface and when she touch the glass, the surface undulates as if it made of water. 'Oh.. gosh!!' she exclaimed in shock and pull her hand back in the same time. She abruptly shot up and walk backward clumsily until her back hit the bed edge.

She turn around and climb to her bed hurriedly and pull her blanket up to her head. She panting heavily as if she had run a hundreds meter. She closed her eyes tightly and chanting a words 'everything's okay' repeatedly to calm her nerves. She stayed like that until she fall asleep unknowingly.

The alarm ringing at 6 sharp in the morning. Calista left buried in her bed with blanket all over her body like cocoon. She never bulge to the sound. Soon after the door knob twisted and Alyse walk inside her room. She frown when she saw the mirror but she ignore it as she has something important to do first.

She took the alarm clock and turn it off before she pulled off the blanket from the sleeping girl. "Calista.. wake up now.. " she shook her gently. Calista didn't bulge. Alyse fold her blanket and put it on the bedside. She sit beside her and shook her shoulder again and called her.

Calista open her heavy eyes but only managed to open one of them. "emm.. " she stretched her body lazily and turn to lie face down against the mattress before weakly speak up. "I am sleepy.. let me sleep for 5 minutes more" Alyse raise her eyebrow to her spoiled attitude and slap her butt. "Sleepy head.. you should prepared for your class... don't you have to go to your school today? Now, get ready.. your father will waiting for you to have a breakfast together. You wont to be late to school, aren't you?"

Calista jump up when the school has been mentioned. She quickly stood up and walk to the bathroom for refresh herself. Before she get ready in her school attire, Alyse has already finished making a bed and she walk out from the room after collected a dirty laundry before close the door behind.
