Chapter 5:The day of reckoning

Asani's eyes snapped open, his heart racing as he reached for his phone. The screen lit up, displaying Peter's name.

"Hey, Asani," Peter's voice was low and serious. "It's time."

Asani's mind was already racing, his body tense with anticipation. He threw off the covers and swung his legs over the side of the bed.

"I'm on my way," Asani said, his voice firm.

"Meet me outside," Peter replied. "Kaitlyn's already there."

Asani's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Kaitlyn's name. What did he have planned for today?

Asani quickly got dressed and made his way outside. The cool morning air hit him like a slap in the face, snapping him into focus.

Peter was waiting for him, his eyes serious. "You ready for this?" he asked.

Asani nodded, his jaw set. "Born ready."

Kaitlyn, Dublin, emerged from the shadows, a small smile playing on his lips. "Excellent," he said. "Then let's get started."

Asani's heart was racing now, his senses on high alert. What lay ahead?

Kaitlyn's smile grew wider as he handed Asani a small, sleek headset. "Your opponent for today's match is... Goliath."

Asani's eyes widened as he took the headset. Goliath? The massive man he had met yesterday?

He took a step back, his mind racing with the implications. Goliath was enormous, with arms as thick as tree trunks and a chest that seemed to be carved out of granite.

Kaitlyn's voice cut through Asani's thoughts, his words dripping with caution. "Be careful, Asani. Goliath is a heavy hitter."

Asani's eyes locked onto Kaitlyn's, his heart pounding in his chest. He could feel the weight of Kaitlyn's words, the unspoken warning that Goliath was a force to be reckoned with.

He took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for the battle ahead. His eyes never left Kaitlyn's, his gaze burning with determination.

"I'm ready," Asani said, his voice firm.

Kaitlyn nodded, a hint of approval in his eyes. "Good. Then let's get started."

Asani took a step forward, his eyes fixed on the ring ahead. The sound of chanting and cheering grew louder, and he could feel the energy of the crowd pulsing through his veins.

"Goliath! Goliath! Goliath!" the crowd chanted, their voices rising to a deafening crescendo.

Asani's heart pounded in his chest as he stepped through the ropes and into the ring. The crowd's chant turned to jeers and catcalls, and Asani could feel their eyes upon him, weighing him, judging him.

"Fresh meat! Fresh meat!" someone shouted, and the crowd took up the chant, their voices dripping with malice and contempt.

Asani's face set in a determined mask, he raised his eyes to meet the gaze of the crowd. He could feel their hostility, their skepticism, but he refused to back down.

The bookmakers and bettors in the crowd began to shout out odds and wagers, their voices rising to a fever pitch.

"Five to one on Goliath!" someone shouted.

"Ten to one on the newcomer!" another voice countered.

"I've got twenty on Goliath to win in the first round!" a third voice chimed in.

The betting and chanting continued, the crowd's energy building to a frenzied pitch. Asani stood tall, his eyes fixed on the crowd, his heart pounding in his chest.

And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the chanting and betting stopped. The crowd fell silent, their eyes fixed on the ring, waiting for the fight to begin.

Asani took a deep breath, his eyes locked on the figure of Goliath, standing across the ring from him. The giant's eyes seemed to bore into Asani's very soul, and Asani could feel his heart pounding in his chest.

The referee stepped forward, his voice ringing out across the silent crowd.

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the main event of the evening! On my right, we have the challenger, Asani! And on my left, we have the reigning champion, Goliath!"

The crowd erupted into cheers and applause once more, but Asani's eyes never left Goliath's face. He knew that this was it, the moment of truth.

The referee raised his hands, and the crowd fell silent once more.

"The rules are simple," the referee said. "The fight will continue until one of the fighters is knocked out or submits. There will be no breaks, no time limits. It's a fight to the finish."

Asani nodded, his eyes locked on Goliath.

The referee dropped his hands, and the fight began......
