ALLISON POV
"Hello? Earth to Allison?"
I hear Kimberly's voice breaking me from my trance. I look over at her, nodding.
"You alright girl? You've been spacing out all day." She asks, taking a small sip of her water.
"Yeah, just tired I guess." I plainly say back, taking a bite of my sandwich. Truthfully, I didn't sleep much last night. I guess it's what I get for watching TikTok all night.
She nods, continuing her conversation with our group. Kimberly is my best friend, we've known each other since we were little. She knows almost everything about me, and I can say the same about her.
We might as well be sisters
As I finish my sandwich, I dismiss myself from the group and head to the restroom. Lunch was pretty much almost over at this point, so might as well fix my makeup in the bathroom while I still have time.
I walk in, seeing the restroom completely empty. I make my way to the mirrors, taking out my makeup bag and applying it slowly. Don't get me wrong, I love having a lot of friends and being sociable, but sometimes I enjoy these lonely moments, it's almost calming.
Even if the setting is a school bathroom
Despite having many friends, I honestly don't like most of them. I get how that sounds, but what can you expect from me? Most of these girls in this school are fake as hell.
The sound of the bell interrupts my thoughts, so I put my makeup away and put them in my bag, then turn to the door to leave. As I'm leaving though, someone walked in, almost hitting me with the door. I jump back, as I hear a faint gasp coming from in front of me.
"O-Oh my.. sorry.. are you okay..?" I hear the girl say, taking a step closer to me. As I looked at her, I realized I didn't recognize her. Despite this, she was very pretty, even though she looked like an absolute nerd. She had long, black hair that seemed to flow ever so perfectly down. She had dark hazel eyes that were covered up by her glasses, and I could tell she was very timid and almost scared, which almost made me laugh.
"Yeah, just be careful next time." I say flatly, brushing past her out into the hall. I casually walked to my next class, History, and from what Kim said, it's probably going to be the worst class of the year.
As I walk in, I see my teacher standing at the front, a soft smile on his face.
"Ah, hello. I'm Mr. Adams, go ahead and find the desk with your name on it." He said, looking at the paper in his hand. I nodded, but internally scoffed.
Assigned seating? Just great..
After a bit, I find my seat and sit down. Almost perfectly in the middle of the class, could be worse. I'd rather be in the back but at least it's not a front row seat, that'd be a bother. As I'm scrolling through my phone, a few more students make their way into class, though I'm not too interested in looking up. However, I see someone from the corner of my eye taking a seat by mine, so I glance up to them, wanting to introduce myself but... the girl that almost hit me with a door? Just great.
I looked back down at my phone, waiting for class to start, as the girl beside me slowly sat and looked forward. I look around the class, looking for anyone I know, and I see a few familiar faces, but no one I'm friends with. I sigh softly, setting my phone in my pocket as the bell rang.
"Well hello students. I'm Mr. Adams, and I'm your history teacher for this year." He said, looking around the class. "First a few thi..." I slowly zone out, knowing it's going to be the same as every teacher's rules they never follow. 'No phones' and 'assigned seating' always gets broken within a week, and I guarantee he will stop caring.
"Ms. Barnes. Are you going to pay attention to me or that wall?" I hear Mr. Adams say, breaking me out of my thoughts. I feel everyone's gaze fall on me, as I roll my eyes slightly.
"My apologies." I say plainly, focusing on him again. I was never the type to make excuses for things like zoning out, people will turn it into a lecture and just waste my time. "Mhm... anyways..." He continues giving the most bland introduction to a class you could think of.
After a while, the bell finally rang, dismissing us from that hellscape. As I pack my things, I can't help but gaze over at the girl beside me. I don't know what it was about her, maybe her composure or just aura, but something about her just drew me in, wanting to get closer and closer...
I shake my head, facing forward again. 'Stop being stupid, what are you saying' I thought to myself as I hurried out of the class.
The rest of the school day dragged on like that, except the part where I almost got hit by a door. Despite not even sharing more than a few words with her, I just couldn't get that girl out of my head. I mean, first she almost had hit me with a door, then suddenly she had been assigned a seat by me? I mean whoever controls fate has a very interesting sense of humor. Ugh get her out of my head, she's probably just a lonely nerd. One who I can't stop thinking about...
I finally step out of the school after that long, dragging day and I see my dad parked in the line to pick me up. I let out a soft sigh, getting in the car.
"Hey sweetie, how was your day?" He asked, staring at me through the rear view mirror. I loved my dad, even though I'm a jerk a lot of the time and give him a lot of shit, he never thought of me any less than his daughter.
"It.. was okay I guess." I say, buckling up as he began driving. "Very boring, all we did was talk about rules and stuff..." He chuckled softly, nodding. My dad was a nice, calm and talkative person, he's a very tall 6'3, which I get my height from. I tell everyone and myself I'm 6', but I'm actually 5' 11, but it's the same difference.
"You sure that's all? You seem lost in thought." He said, making me sigh softly. He always knew if something was up, which I really didn't love or hate.
"Just... met someone interesting today." I say, staring out the window. I hear a soft hum from him, and I feel his gaze on me.
"Interesting huh...? Like a crush or something?" He said as I jolted my head in his direction. I can feel my cheeks heating up
"NO?!" I say, a bit shocked and embarrassed. He chuckled loudly, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, just trying to figure out what you're thinking so deeply about." He said, focusing on the road again. I tried to get it out of my head but his words seemed to echo in her head. A crush? Impossible. Firstly, I don't even know this girl. Secondly, she's just a nerd who almost hit me with a door. And lastly, I'm not even into girls...
The feeling of the car parking made me realize we were already home. I stepped out, and immediately headed to my room and set my bag down, then got in bed.
"A small nap wouldn't hurt.." I said to myself, feeling myself drifting to sleep.

A/N- Hey, thanks a ton for reading! I know it's a bit all over the place, and I'm not the best author ever, but I hope it's good enough.
Oh and I'll make a character page for Kimberly so y'all can get to know her as well.
