Episode 4

Valentina narrating:

The week passed quickly, today is Friday, and Luca's grandparents will pick him up to spend the weekend with his paternal grandparents.

Although he doesn't have contact with his father.

The grandparents are not to blame, and they are present in their grandson's life.

And my son loves his grandparents.

I would never deprive my son of spending time with them.

Luca: Today my grandparents are coming to get me.

Heloisa: That's great! I'm at my uncle's and grandpa's house.

We just don't do many things.

My uncle is very strict and full of rules.

Luca: But is he nice?

Heloisa: It depends on the day.

Some days he's in a bad mood and doesn't want any noise.

Luca: My uncle Vinicius is really nice. I only have one cousin, and he's younger.

Do you want to go to my grandma's birthday party next weekend?

Heloisa: I'd like to. I'll see if grandpa will take me.

Tell me what your grandma likes so I can buy her a nice present.

Luca: You don't have to.

Heloisa: Of course, I do.

You know, I miss my parents.

I wish they would wake up soon.

They hug, and I see a beautiful friendship has blossomed between them.

Valentina: Hi, loves!

Heloisa: Aunt Valentina.

Luca invited me to his grandma's birthday party.

Valentina: You'll be very welcome, dear.

We're leaving now.

Heloisa: Stay until my uncle gets here.

Luca: And Mom, please.

We'll only see each other on Monday now.

They make such a cute face at me that I can't say no to them.

Valentina: Alright, but I have to call your grandparents.

I step out to make the call and explain why I'll be a little late, and they, as always, are very kind to me.

When I return, there's a tall, handsome man next to them.

I deduce he must be Heloisa's uncle.

Heloisa: Aunt Valentina, this is my uncle Henry.

Uncle Henry, this is my teacher Valentina.

Henry: It's a pleasure to meet you.

Valentina: Likewise.

Let's go, son.

Luca: Bye!! Heloisa, bye Mr. Henry.

He just waves, and I head to the car, and we go home, as Luca's grandparents have already arrived and are waiting for him.

We arrived home.

Luca: Grandma, I missed you so much.

Hi, Grandpa.

Tharso: Didn't you miss me?

Luca: Of course, I did.

Paula: He's just being dramatic, my grandson.

Valentina: Go take a shower.

He goes upstairs, and I stay to chat with them. Then Luca comes down all dressed up, says goodbye to me and my mother, and leaves with his paternal grandparents.

Rosalina: Daughter, it's time to rebuild your life; Luca is growing up.

Valentina: Mom, I don't want to. You know how painful it was to go through all of that alone; I don't want another disappointment.

You should do the same.

Rosalina: It's different. I loved your father, and I was widowed.

No one will ever replace him.

And you are young and beautiful; you will find true love.

Valentina: I'm going to take a shower.

I avoid the subject so it doesn't drag on any longer.

I get to my room and take a relaxing bath.

During this time, I went out a few times, but nothing serious or anything that involved sex.

I only have one friend, named Diana.

She works at a company. I met her in college when I was pregnant; she had been transferred here.

And we've been friends ever since.

Whenever we can, we go out together, or I go to her place and vice-versa.

She invited me to a trendy little bar right now; since my son isn't here, I decide to accept.

Henry narrating:

Today I had so many commitments at the company that I ended up being late to pick up Heloisa from school.

As soon as I arrive, I see her talking to the same boy as every other day.

He greeted me with a handshake and a smile.

From what I saw, he loves cars, and since I work in this field, I noticed he's very curious and understands a lot about cars.

While we're talking, I see a beautiful woman approaching. When she looks at me, I get caught in her gaze, and at no point did she show any kind of surprise or emotion like the others; she simply ignored me as if I weren't anyone important.

And that piqued my curiosity about her.

My niece introduced us, and what a beautiful name, Valentina.

What the hell are these thoughts?

She must be married; she has a son.

And that look she has?

I must be going crazy.

I'm pulled from my thoughts when my niece asks me.

Heloisa: Uncle, what did you think of Valentina?

Henry: She's beautiful.

I answer without even realizing it, and suddenly I look over and she starts to laugh.

Henry: What kind of question is that, Heloisa?

Heloisa: I see my friends' fathers looking at her.

That's why I asked.

I don't know why, but I felt a strong anger knowing that other men look at her.

But as beautiful as she is, how could one not look?

In my day, teachers weren't like that.

What the heck are these thoughts?

It's better to leave it alone; she's forbidden for me, as she must be married. A woman like that is certainly not alone.

I arrive at the mansion and tell Heloisa to go take a shower.

Henrique: Your cousin called.

Henry: And?

Henrique: He invited you to that trendy little bar; call him.

I really need to go out.

It's been over fifteen days since I last went out.

I call my cousin Raul and make plans with him.

He tells me he's going because he made plans with a woman he's having a fling with, and I said I wasn't going to be a third wheel.

He told me she was bringing a friend.

Honestly, I'm not going to hook up with anyone; I hope it's someone pleasant to have a good conversation with.

I go to my room and take a shower.

Soon, I come downstairs all dressed up.

Henrique: Good that you decided to go out, son.

Henry: Yes, I'm just going to clear my head a bit.

Heloisa: You look handsome, Uncle.

When I grow up, I want a boyfriend as handsome as you.

I widen my eyes: Wha- I choke and start coughing, turning red.

Henry: What's this, Heloisa?

Heloisa: Come on, Uncle, I'm growing up.

Luca is a handsome boy.

Henry: My God! Don't give me daughters.

Henrique: Hahaha, my dear, don't let your father hear you, or he'll have a heart attack.

Heloisa: Hahaha.

I can't wait for them to wake up, Grandpa.

Henrique: Let's order pizza and ask Mrs. Marta to make brigadeiro.

There's still ice cream in the fridge.

Heloisa: Yayyyy

Henry: Just don't set my house on fire.

Henrique: Yes, sir, General.

I leave there immediately.

My father is a very cheerful and fun man; he indulges Heloisa's every whim.

Heloisa, 8 years old.

I meet my cousin at the entrance of the little bar.
