Chapter 3

A knock on the door was heard. Clare finished putting her make up on and went to open the door. There stood Alejandro, wearing a simple dark brown short sleeve polo, beige pants and his watch, overall, he looked as handsome as ever.

“Are you ready?” he asked with his natural deep voice that could win her over. “Yep, let me just go grab my purse” she grabbed her bag and left the room with him. How did this happen? Well, they suddenly decided to just explore Rome together, since he said it was better to travel with someone than just being alone.

They decided to go to her next destination. It was Alejandro who did all the talking about the places they go, as if he became her very own private tour guide. “How do you know all about these places?” she asked. It’s as if he memorized everything about the histories of all the places they visited.

“When you live in Italy, it’s mandatory to know all about this stuff. It’s a proud possession of the country that demands each and every child to learn it” she chuckle, she does enjoy learning about the history of a place but not as much as learning about ‘everything’ at an early age.

They continue going to different places and Alejandro just keeps talking and talking, of course it didn’t slip past her the stares they are getting from the people. Alejandro has such eye catching features so it's no surprise that everyone would look at him.

After all the looking around, Alejandro brought her to a little cafe with such a warm vibe. “Ah bentornato Alejandro, sembra che tu abbia portato qualcuno con te. piacere di vederti, bella signora” the man behind the counter greeted her. (*t/: ah welcome back Alejandro, look like you brought someone with you. nice to see you beautiful lady)

“è stato un piacere conoscerti anch'io” she greeted back (*t/: nice to meet you too).

The man looked at her with a shock expression, while Alejandro was smiling. “ah lei parla italiano” (*t/: ah she speaks Italian). She smiled at him. “She’s not used to speaking Italian, talk in English” Alejandro cut off.

“Sorry, I’m just surprised that a beautiful lady such as herself can speak a difficult language. I’m Ricardo by the way, I own this cafe. I hope you find it pleasing” the cafe hayve the vibe of a calm environment, somewhere you’ll want to be when you’re stressed and just want to relax.

“It looks very relaxing" she said, making Ricardo proud. “So, what would the both of you like?” She looks at the menu and her eyes sparkle after reading all kinds of cake that was written there. “I’ll have the usual” Ricardo nodded and started writing. “And for the lady?”

“I’ll have two mocha slices, with one strawberry chocolate slice, a muffin and a matcha shake” both Alejandro and Ricardo were shocked with her order. “What?” she was confused by their reaction.

“You’re gonna eat all that?” she nodded and smiled at them both. “Okay” Ricardo wrote down their order. They choose a seat near the windows to see the scenery outside. If it weren’t for Alejandro, she would never have found this place.

It was so peaceful and the whole place was sound proof so the noise from the outside couldn’t be heard, all that could be heard was the soft music that was playing on the speaker.

“I could stay here forever” she said that made Alejandro chuckle. Alejandro knew what she meant. Ricardo’s cafe was one of the gems hidden in Rome. Their order arrived and it looked so delicious that Clare couldn’t hesitate to take more than one picture. It was aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

She took the first bite and it was like all the clouds were around her. It tasted so good that she didn’t even talk and just continued eating. Ricardo was smiling while looking at her eat, he was happy that he made another person happy with his cakes.

“How is it?” Alejandro asked. She just pouted and closed her eyes. That made him smile even more. She was savoring the flavor of each cake. The shakes hasn’t even been touch, she just keeps eating and eating and eating.

Alejandro just keeps looking at her while she enjoys herself. Clare keeps eating until there was nothing left on the plates. She sign in satisfaction after eating. “Did it taste good?” Alejandro asked. She gave him a nod and looked at Ricardo then gave him a thumbs up. Ricardo then bowed at her. “If it weren’t for you, I would have never found this place. Thank you for bringing me here”

“It’s good that you liked the food” their conversation was cut off when Alejandro’s phone rang “Excuse me, I have to take this” she nodded and took the matcha shake and started sipping” she once again closed her eyes to savor the flavor. After a while Alejandro came back with a bothered look.

“Something wrong?” she asked.

“Something came up and I have to go do some things" Alejandro explained. “No worries. It’s already late anyway so…” the look in Alejandro’s eyes says he doesn’t want to bother her, which, made her chuckle. “It’s okay, we can go now. We’ve already went to my listed places to go so I’m totally fine with going back to the hotel”

“Are you sure? I’ll make it up to you” she smiled at him and nodded. Alejandro paid for their food then lead her to his car. He drove back to the hotel. When they arrived, he opened the car door for her. “Thank you”

“I’m really sorry that I have to cut our time"

“Hey, it’s fine. I had fun today, thank you, especially for bringing me to the cafe” she thanked him.

“Well then, see you tomorrow” she smiled at him and nodded. They said their goodbyes and she walked inside the hotel. She took her phone from her pocket and saw the many missed calls from Lucas and Jess. She went inside her room and called Jess.

“WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU?! WE’VE BEEN CALLING FOR AGES” she laughed at her. Jess’s big sis energy was activated once again. “I’m fine Jess. I was just so occupied that I didn’t check my phone and it was on silent”

“why would you put your phone on silent?” Jess asked. “Well I was with Alejandro and he keeps showing me around” that’s when she realized what she said. “Continue” Jess said in a joking way. She sighed and told her everything.
