Chapter 8: Unwanted Attachments
Morning in the Bunker
Taehyung barely slept.
The Jeon brothers were still here.
Still watching him.
And worst of all—he was getting used to it.
He stretched, feeling stiff from his restless night, only to freeze when he saw a figure sitting way too close to his cot.
Jae-hyun.
With a book in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.
His piercing gaze met Taehyung’s as he calmly took a sip.
“You move a lot in your sleep.”
Taehyung groaned. “Are you seriously watching me sleep now?”
Jae-hyun hummed. “Not watching. Observing.”
Same thing.
Before Taehyung could throw a pillow at him, the door creaked open.
Jungkook walked in, shirtless, towel around his neck. His wet hair dripped onto his toned chest.
Taehyung immediately looked away.
Nope. Not dealing with this today.
“Morning, sweetheart,” Jungkook greeted, voice deep and teasing.
Taehyung scowled. “Don’t call me that.”
Jungguk appeared next, grinning mischievously. “Aww, is our little lamb shy?”
Taehyung turned to Jae-hyun. “Why are they like this?”
Jae-hyun sighed. “They have no self-control.”
Jungkook smirked. “Oh? And what about you?”
Jae-hyun didn’t react, but Taehyung swore he saw his grip tighten on his book.
Jungguk sat beside Taehyung, much too close.
“You still haven’t explained how you got all this stuff.” He gestured to the supplies around the bunker. “No way a normal college student has this level of preparation.”
Taehyung stiffened.
They were getting too curious.
“Lucky guess,” he lied.
Jae-hyun narrowed his eyes. “I don’t believe in luck.”
Jungkook crossed his arms. “Neither do I.”
Taehyung scoffed, standing up. “Fine, don’t believe it. I don’t need to explain myself to you three.”
Jungguk pouted. “But we’re curious.”
“Curiosity kills,” Taehyung shot back.
Jungkook smirked. “And yet, we’re still here.”
This was getting dangerous.
They weren’t stupid.
And if they kept digging—
They’d find out everything.
That Taehyung wasn’t just some ordinary guy.
That he had already survived ten years of the apocalypse.
That he had already died.
And that he would never let that happen again.
The Jeons’ Private Conversation
Later that day, the three brothers sat in another part of the bunker, away from Taehyung.
Jae-hyun tapped his fingers on the table. “He’s hiding something.”
Jungguk leaned back. “Obviously. The question is—what?”
Jungkook stared at the door where Taehyung had left moments ago. His gaze darkened.
“We’ll find out.”
Jae-hyun raised an eyebrow. “And if he doesn’t want to tell us?”
Jungkook smirked. “Then we make him.”
Jungguk grinned. “I like the sound of that.”
Jae-hyun sighed but didn’t argue.
Because, deep down, he knew—
They weren’t going to let Taehyung go.
Not now.
Not ever.
And Taehyung had no idea what he had gotten himself into.
