Qiuyue was brought to the emergency room immediately. The best nurses and doctors were called to assist the patient. They would only do that. The man who brought the girl was Song Jin! The Song Jin! One of the most powerful people in the country. No one dared to mess with him because he also had deep connections outside the country that can cause their downfall in a snap.
After 20 minutes, Wen arrived with a child. The child was treated with utmost care too!
After the siblings' treatment, both doctors and nurses were able to breathe a sigh of relief. It was never serious, but they all thought they just performed a brain operation!
Just who were these kids the Overlord Song Jin brought!
Huan, who was treated of his wounds, asked Wen for Qiuyue after he answered all his questions. He immediately accompanied him to his sister's room.
Jin was just standing beside the bed staring at Qiuyue. She still had not regained her consciousness. She should have by now but Jin requested the doctor to let her sleep longer. He can tell she had been living a hard life as a war refugee.
When the doctor reported her condition, he knew it was malnutrition and exhaustion. However, there were still many questions left unanswered. The doctor also informed him of the scars in her body that seemed to be on her for 10 years or so. While recalling what the doctor said, his brows furrowed.
A knock was heard then and a bodyguard guarding the door opened it slightly and informed him that Wen and a young boy had come to see the girl.
"Let them in."
The door opened and a crying Huan rushed to his sister's side. He just glared at Jin. Jin did not mind him at all. "Your sister is sleeping. Watch over her." He then faced Wen. His assistant nodded in return. They both left the room.
A separate private room was prepared for him. They walked into the room and another bodyguard closed it silently and guarded the door.
Jin sat on a chair. He unfastened his tie. "Speak."
Song Wen nodded. "All of these details were recounted by the young boy's experience. However, I already asked someone to validate and investigate further. Wu Qiuyue, 17 years old. Wu Huan, 7 years old. Both were refugees from D city. Wu clan was one of the most powerful clans in D City. They practised swordsmanship... "
Song Wen paused for a while and then glanced at his Master who remained unperturbed.
"In these three years, the boy said that they have only eaten the buns they made. Occasionally, her sister will buy him the food he liked but his sister would give all to him. The... The young girl would only bathe in cold water to conserve gas and water. The young boy said that he would wake up at night at times because of his sister's cries calling out to their parents and their other siblings. The case of the girl fainting today was not the first time. It had happened before but as the young boy said, his sister would wake up in 30 minutes or—"
"The cart." He stated calmly.
"Yes. Aside from selling buns, the siblings would collect bamboo stems from D city to sell them. They would always make roundtrips. The young boy said that it was her sister who cuts the bamboo using a sword."
Wen pursed his lips. He didn't know what to think or feel about their situation.
"Prepare two rooms for the siblings. They will stay in my residence here." He ordered.
Wen was dumbfounded. Room? Stay? Are they going to start raising an orphanage now? It was his first time seeing his Master this way. "Mas... Master... May I know why you took interest in the siblings?" He hesitantly asked.
He glanced at him coldly that made him feel that his back was drenching in cold sweat uncontrollably. He swallowed his saliva. "Their eyes."
'Ah? Eyes? Does he want to transplant their eyes to him or to someone else?'
Seeing his assistant's stunned expression, "Wen, do you want me to take interest in your eyes too?"
Wen swallowed his saliva, bowed down and hastily left the room.
—
It was already afternoon. Despite his hunger, Huan refused to eat the food delivered to him by a nurse. He said that he would wait for his sister to wake up.
After an hour, Qiuyue finally regained her consciousness. Her eyelids were still drooped as she tried to figure out where she was in now. She felt the side of the bed sinking. She directed her gaze at it and saw Huan sleeping.
'I must have fainted again. Is this a hospital? So someone helped us this time.'
She did not know what to think and feel at the moment. Their house, the bamboo stems they needed to collect, the buns, the bottled waters that she used to refill their water, the cart, the sword... The sword!
She forced herself to fully open her eyes, to sit up.
"Sister!" Huan cried out as he hugged her. Because of his force when he pounced on her, Qiuyue who was trying to get up, fell back down the bed. "Don't leave me! I thought they will take you away from me!"
Seeing her brother made her feel the warmth in her heart. She rubbed his back and console him. "Hm. Don't worry. Sister will never leave you." She said weakly.
While she was coaxing him, the door opened. This made her stop and raise her head up a little. She saw two men in suit walked into the room and stopped in front of her... Or of the bed.
She looked up. She saw one of the men before. She did not give him attention before so only now did she realise that the man in front of her was very handsome but there was something in him that made her put her guard up. Was it his eyes? Or the way he was standing? Or the oppressive aura he was exuding?
She embraced Huan tightly. If they tried to separate them, she would never let it happen! Even if she had to fight to death, she will not let anyone take Huan from her!
"How are you feeling?" He asked. His tone was low and it made her tremble slightly. It was not indifferent, but it was very cold.
She steeled her heart and calmed her mind. "I feel better now. Thank you for saving us. We will do our best to pay the money—"
*Growl
Qiuyue was interrupted by the sound. She had to think twice to identify if it was her or not but fortunately, it was not her. Huan!
She looked at Huan. "Why did you not eat the buns?"
She then looked at Jin. "Mister, did you bring our things with you? We have buns there and—"
Jin waved his hand stopping her from speaking. For the first time in his life, he wanted to ban 'buns' as a word and as food!
"Wen, have someone reheat and bring the food we bought for them." Wen nodded and left the room while Jin sat on the couch watching the siblings.
"Th... Thank you, Mister." She bowed her head slightly. She then focused on consoling Huan once more. He was now sitting on the side of the bed recounting what had happened to them and how the strangers saved them.
After 15 minutes, Wen arrived with two nurses who set up a bedside table and the food in front of the siblings. Huan was now sitting beside Qiuyue on the bed. When he saw the food, he started to drool, his eyes sparkling. Qiuyue, on the other hand, was surprised with the meal. There was hesitation in her eyes. After the nurses left, she looked at Jin. "Mister, this... food... Is it alright for us to eat them?"
Before the tragedy happened, Qiuyue was still able to eat this kind of food in their house. She would help her mother prepare and cook dishes for everyone but that was three years ago. Now, she felt that she was eating them again for the first time. After eating buns for more than three years, she did not know if she would be able to eat the dishes in front of her again.
"It is okay. You need to regain your strength. Eat first and then we talk." Jin casually said.
Qiuyue felt like crying after hearing his words. The corners of her eyes were stinging but she held it back. She nodded appreciatively at him. She put some dishes in her brother's bowl and then gave him the chopsticks. "Huan, eat."
Huan swallowed his saliva and began wolfing down. When he tasted the meat, he trembled, swallowed it whole and cried. "Cough.. Sister... It tastes.. Cough.. Good!" Huan was choking.
