Chapter 15: "Reflection"

As the plane soared through clouds, Emily gazed out the window, lost in thought –

"Four years... feels like a lifetime since Max left for London. Our love remained strong initially – daily calls, shared hopes, and dreams."

She recalled the early days after Max's departure:

* Grandma and Grandpa's concerns are slowly fading as they see my (Emily's) strength grow.

* The turning point: Max's uncle passing away, leaving Max overwhelmed with business responsibilities.

Emily's eyes drifted back into focus as she thought about their communication during that challenging period – "Max is busy saving the family business... me busy saving our love. Rare calls turned into cherished moments – I hung onto every word." My own heart still belonged to Max, but determination ignited within – to stand beside him as an equal.

Her mind then shifted to her personal journey:

* Endless online job applications and interviews.

* Sleepless nights perfecting resumes and cover letters.

* And finally – the dream job offer from "Editorial Times" in London!

A soft smile spread across Emily's face –

"Max never knew about my secret plan – to join him in London, career-established and heart still his. Surprise of a lifetime incoming..."

The plane hit turbulence, jolting Emily back to reality. She glanced around the cabin before returning to her thoughts –

"What will Max's expression be when he sees me? Shock, joy, love revived?"

Emily wondered about Max's current life –

"'Does Max have someone else now? Has he moved on, or is his heart still mine to reclaim?'"

Her mind raced with possibilities –

* Max attending London galas with a new girlfriend on his arm.

* Him focusing solely on business, love life dormant.

* Or maybe... just maybe – Max still cherishes memories of their love.

Emily's thoughts swirled with emotions – curiosity mixed with a hint of jealousy –

"What if he's happy with someone else? Could I really blame him after four years apart?"

She glanced around the plane cabin, ensuring no one noticed her inner turmoil. A gentle voice interrupted her thoughts – the flight attendant offering refreshments.

As Emily accepted a cup of coffee, her gaze returned to the window – "Only a few hours left until landing... and confronting whatever Max's life has become."

Emily focused on her own confidence –

"'I'm not the same girl Max left behind – I'm stronger, career-driven... worthy of his love either way.'"

A soothing sense of self-assurance spread through her –

* From heartbroken teenager to independent woman.

* Once reliant on Max's love; now empowered by her own accomplishments.

Emily smiled inwardly, reflecting on her growth –

"My love for Max remains strong, but my identity isn't defined solely by him anymore."

As the plane began its descent into London Heathrow, Emily felt ready –

"Time to face whatever comes next with Max – our past, present, or future – with confidence and heart intact."

The captain's voice came over the intercom –

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to London Heathrow. Local time is 9:45 AM."

Emily gathered her belongings, excitement mingling with nerves –

"Max Wellington, here I come..."
