Chapter 11: "Truth Revealing"

As she walked in the door after meeting with Max at the coffee shop, Grandma looked up from her book –"That smile could light up a room – spill the tea, dear!"

Emily giggled and plopped down beside Grandma actually...You know how I've been hinting about a crush?"

Grandma nodded curiously – "Yes, dear, do tell – I've been wondering!"

Emily smiled softly – "It's Max... Max Wells – Mrs. Jennifer's friend's son...

Grandma's eyes widened in surprise –"Max Wells – that nice young man. I had no idea..."

She leaned in closer, delightedly - Tell me how you first met him: Emily smiled nostalgically –

"Grandma, Max and I actually met a few days ago – at Lake Som..."

Grandma's eyes widened – "The lake, Grandma chuckled – "Adorable start! Both ended up laughing together.

The evening flew by in a blissful haze of daydreaming and Grandma's playful teasing.

Now it's time, Grandma is heading towards the kitchen, for making dinner but before she goes Emily told her( grandmother) to keep the thing about Max and her(Emily) within her, okay?"

Grandmother nodded vigorously –

"Yes, please – I want to tell Grandpa myself when the time feels right." Emily told.

Grandma smiled knowingly –"I'll keep your secret safe. He'd be thrilled for you anyway – Max seems perfect!"

She winked and continued into the kitchen.

Emily giggled to herself, feeling grateful for Grandma's understanding.

The dinner table was filled with warm lighting, delicious aromas, and loving company.

Grandma served chicken parmesan, garlic bread, and steaming vegetables.

Grandpa enthusiastically said – "Today all favourites of, dear Emily!"

Grandma smiled at Emily, then glanced at Grandpa – "It' s been a month since having Emily's favourite dishes so today I made it her"

Emily nodded, taking a bite of chicken –

"Mmm-hmm, Grandma – thank you for the dinner."

Emily and Grandma exchanged a brief glance; Emily knew she was keeping Max a secret for now.

Grandpa continued, "So, Emily – how was your day? Anything exciting happen?"

Emily accidentally slipped up:"Had coffee... then she redirected it and told that she had coffee with Mrs. Jennifer. And then she told them(grandparents) that she had finished eating and going to sleep (to runaway from any further questioning from her grandfather). As she lay on the bed Emily drifted off to sleep, lulled by the soft hum of her grandparents' TV downstairs.

Her dreams were filled with visions of Max – their lake collision, cozy coffee date, and sweet texts.

As she slept peacefully, Grandma slipped into her room, smiling warmly –"Our girl's happy again – I see it in her sleep," she whispered to herself.

Grandma left a gentle kiss on Emily's forehead before returning downstairs.

Meanwhile, Grandpa looked up from T.V., noticing Grandma's smile –

"Emily asleep already? You're smiling like you know some secrets..."

Grandma leaned in close – "Let's just say Grandpa's intuition is correct – and she(grandma) also goes sleep to avoid further questioning from grandfather.
