On the other side

After her mother and aunt left

Mishti picked up the thaali and looked at it. Her eyes widened with surprise. She placed the thaali back at the same place and sat cross-legged on the bed and started thinking to herself, "Do these people really want to marry me?"

For a moment Mishti got angry. But then she heard the sound of cars stopping somewhere outside.

Mishti lifted the curtain of her room's window and looked inside. It wasn't like the cities here. It was a village. Only a wire mesh had been installed. And from inside there were curtains made of cloth so that air could come in and out.

People there liked to live like this. With the beauty of nature, so there were not many big houses built in the village yet.

Except for a few people whose children had gone to work in cities like Mumbai. Those people had done it. But there were some people who refused outright.

Landlord Rajguru Sehgal family was a famous name in this village. They had a hundred acres of land. But still they kept their house as it was before. Seeing them, other people also started thinking like them. So why can't they live like that.

There is so much that such a big person can do. But his life was in farming. Otherwise he would have also gone abroad from here. But he liked the village better than abroad.

He had three brothers, two lived here. And the youngest one who was sent there to study got settled there. These people did not raise any objection and were happy in his happiness.

Initially they had expressed a little resentment, but they had pampered him a lot in childhood. So that resentment was a guest for a few days. It came and went.

On one hand, Rajguru ji was respected a lot in the village. Everyone respected him. They used to help everyone, everything was good.

Except for the mischief of their daughter, all the three children of both the brothers were sent abroad along with their youngest brother to complete their studies. One of them was Mishti's brother who was elder to her.

They had also taken Mishti along. But Mishti did not like the life there. After coming back from there, Mishti fell ill a few days ago. She was about 8 years old then.

She was so ill that the doctors had said that the chances of her survival were very low. This whole sequence had started only after that.

Then she recovered after two months. After that, Mishti's mischiefs and bad behaviour had also increased. Even after doing all this, no one would rebuke her saying that the daughter has returned from the jaws of death. Let it go,

That is why everyone had stopped talking to her. But Mishti had taken too much advantage of this.

But today her plans were not going to work. Mishti had relived her entire childhood in these few moments. Tears were pouring out of her eyes like water.

Today there was no end to those tears. Is this the result of my mischief since childhood? Saying this, Mishti again sat on the bed and started crying loudly.

Just then the door opened from outside and both the women came inside. But seeing Mishti still in the same clothes, Namrata came forward and scolded Mishti and said- What kind of childishness is this?

"Why are you not ready yet?" Do you even know that guests have come downstairs. And you are still lying on the bed?

Think about your father's respect, how will he face the people in the village, "What do you want...!"

Mishti kept sitting like that for some time, just staring into the void. But the very next moment she stood up from her place and started preparing herself.

Both the women were looking at her with wide eyes in surprise. But suddenly Sumita ji held Mishti's hand and said - what is this Mithu, this was Mishti's nickname.

But she was not called like a small child from school, it is Popat. Which we call Mithu. Such vibes started coming to Mishti.

But since she grew up, she had warned everyone that no one would call her by that nickname. Madam herself had fought for that too. She was hungry from morning till evening.

And food was Mishti's biggest vice. But this protest was too much for everyone. Mishti was just 10 years old then.

After that, everyone got out of the habit of calling her by that nickname. No one wanted to. Because of this naughty girl, they were in the hospital for two days.

Which no one could have imagined. Mishti's reach was even beyond that. Or should we say, where everyone's thinking used to end, that is where Mishti Sehgal used to work her magic.

Let's see. What kind of magic Mishti works. Mishti looked at her aunt and said with displeasure. What is this, now you yourself told me to get ready so I am just getting ready.

Namrata ji - Hey crazy girl, do you even know how bad your face is. First go and clean it and then get ready, but she immediately said no, now we will get you ready. Go and freshen up quickly,

Mishti looked at both of them one by one and went away from there stamping her feet in anger. She wanted to go like this only, so that no one could like her.

Sumita ji - Bhabhi you go, I will get her ready and bring her in five minutes. Till then you make the rest of the arrangements. Namrata shook her head and went away from there to look after the rest of the work.

When Mishti came, Sumita ji first made her wear a saree, that lavender colored saree was looking very beautiful on Mishti. Mishti was just looking at her aunt sitting on the stool in front of the mirror. She was getting her ready so nicely. Mishti too saw herself for the first time after dressing up so much. Sumita ji finalized everything and got Mishti ready.
