Start
"It was around 1:00 pm, and Garima Ji was busy with household chores while constantly glancing at the clock. She knew her daughter usually returned home before 1:00 pm. However, today, Palak was taking a long time to arrive, which made Garima Ji anxious. She tried calling Palak, but her phone was unreachable.
Assuming Palak might have stopped at a shop on her way back from college, Garima Ji tried to reassure herself. Meanwhile, Dadi had already asked Garima Ji multiple times why Palak was taking so long to return home."
"Garima Ji was aware that although the two sisters left together in the morning, they returned at different times due to their varying class schedules. Palak usually arrived home early, followed by Nandini about an hour later. However, today, Nandini returned just 10 minutes after the expected time.
Garima Ji's anxiety grew, and she asked Nandini, 'Beta, did you meet Palak at college?'"
"Nandini replied, 'Mummy, you know that Didi usually comes home before me, so I didn't meet her.'
Garima Ji's concern grew, and she quickly grabbed her mobile phone to call Tapsvi Ji. As soon as Tapsvi Ji answered the call, Garima Ji anxiously asked, 'Has Palak gone to the shop?'"
"Tapsvi Ji replied, 'Why would Palak come to the shop? She must have gone home from college... she didn't come here.'
Garima Ji's voice trembled as she said, 'Palak hasn't come home, and Nandini just arrived, but she didn't meet Palak either. Palak's phone is also unreachable... I thought maybe she went to the shop. I'm getting worried...!'
Tapsvi Ji reassured her, 'Garima, don't worry. I'll go to the college and check. She must be there... I have complete faith in my daughter.'"
"After the conversation, Tapsvi Ji ended the call and, worried, closed his shop. He got on his scooter and headed towards the college. Within a short time, he arrived at the college and inquired with the teachers. To his dismay, he discovered that the college had closed hours ago, and the students had likely returned home long ago.
Tapsvi Ji's heart began racing, and his forehead furrowed with worry. Adjusting his glasses, he asked again if anyone had seen his daughter, his anxiety growing with each passing moment."
"There were still many teachers at the college, and some students were studying in the library. The teacher suggested that Tapsvi Ji check the library as well. Accompanied by the watchman, Tapsvi Ji searched the library, canteen, and every other possible location. He even sent a girl to check the women's washroom. Despite thoroughly searching everywhere, Palak was nowhere to be found."
"About an hour had passed in the search, and back home, Dadi had been lecturing Garima Ji repeatedly. She kept saying that her two granddaughters had become stubborn and that her son didn't put enough pressure on them, resulting in their disobedience.
Tapsvi Ji stepped out of the college and stood beside his scooter, looking around anxiously. His eyes had become tearful, and he removed his glasses to wipe them clean. Putting his glasses back on, he tried calling Palak again, but the phone remained unreachable."
"Without delay, Tapsvi Ji started his scooter and headed home, driving slowly to scan his surroundings, hoping to catch a glimpse of his daughter. After a long time, he finally arrived home, and Garima Ji, hearing the scooter's sound, looked outside through the open front door.
As Tapsvi Ji entered the house, Garima Ji burst into tears, and everyone's anxiety was palpable. Seeing Tapsvi Ji's downtrodden expression, Garima Ji inferred that their daughter was not at college and approached him, asking..."
"Tapsvi Ji removed his glasses and said, 'She must have left college a long time ago, and her phone is unreachable too.'
Dadi was worried about Palak, but she was also criticizing her. Tapsvi Ji raised his voice, 'Mother, please stay quiet. We don't know where my daughter is or what's happened to her. Without knowing the facts, you keep accusing her unfairly.'
Tapsvi Ji's words silenced Dadi, but she was also anxious, fearing something terrible might have happened to Palak, a concern that weighed heavily on her mind."
"Garima Ji, tearfully, said to Tapsvi Ji, 'We should go to the police station. Who knows where my child is? I'm having terrible thoughts...'
Nandini, also in tears, approached and said, 'Yes, Papa, Mummy is right. We should go to the police station and file a complaint immediately.'
As they discussed, Dadi spoke up again, 'If you go to the police station, what will happen to our reputation? People will think who-knows-what about
us...'"
"Dadi was still speaking when Tapsvi Ji interrupted her again, 'Mother, I'm telling you once more, please be quiet. I'm not concerned about what people think, I'm worried about my daughter...!'"
"After saying this, Tapsvi Ji and Garima Ji left the house. Garima Ji instructed Nandini to take care of the house and Dadi. Soon, they arrived at the police station.
Inside the police station, they approached a police constable and informed him about their daughter's disappearance. 'It's been three hours since she left, and she hasn't returned home. We even went to her college, but they said she had left a long time ago...'"
"The police officers asked questions about their daughter, such as her college friends and acquaintances in the neighborhood. They took down her mobile number, photo, and other details. The police told them to wait for 24 hours, and if she returns, it's fine; otherwise, they will take action.
Tapsvi Ji was aware that the police would say this, but as parents, they couldn't help but request that the police start searching immediately. The police officers agreed and sent three personnel with the photo to search for Palak. They instructed Tapsvi Ji and Garima Ji to return home."
