After One Month

After 22 days

"Before they knew it, 22 days had passed. While time flew by for others, there was one family that couldn't find peace, day or night - Tapsvi Ji and his family. Tapsvi Ji's two daughters were extremely worried, and Tapsvi Ji would repeatedly say at home, 'We didn't give up then, and we won't give up now. We'll find a way out, no matter what.'"

" Witnessing her family's struggles, Palak couldn't shake off the feeling that she was somehow responsible for their troubles. She often wished that she had a brother, who could have protected their family from this predicament.

As a daughter, Palak felt that her presence made her father vulnerable everywhere. If only she had a brother, he would have fought for them or found a way to escape this quagmire."

in Udaipur, Rajasthan, the day was approaching, and Bhavesh and Balram were both ecstatic. Balram was receiving updates that Ved had given the people of Balmapur a month's notice, after which he would take possession of the land.

Bhavesh was level-headed, willing to wait another month. However, his younger brother Balram was impatient. Every day, he would approach Bhavesh, saying, 'Why give them a month's time? We should have paid them off immediately and settled the matter!'"

"Bhavesh tried to reason with Balram, saying that waiting another month wouldn't make a significant difference. However, Balram responded, 'Brother, you don't know Tapsvi; he's a cunning man. He won't sit idle; he'll find a way to stop us from acquiring this land.'

As Bhavesh listened to Balram's concerns, his face began to show signs of worry. He too started to feel anxious, wondering what would happen if they didn't get the land after a month."

"Bhavesh immediately tried to call Ved, but he was unavailable as he was out of the country. Balram was getting increasingly agitated, and seeing his brother's calm demeanor only added to his frustration. He anxiously told Bhavesh, 'Brother, if we sit idle like this, we'll face the consequences!'

After expressing his concerns, Balram left. Bhavesh was now deep in thought. Meanwhile, Balram had instructed his men to gather information about Tapsvi, fearing that he might take drastic measures."

"Balram's informants were keeping him updated on Tapsvi's activities, revealing that he was meeting with people, carrying the land papers. Balram feared that Tapsvi might take the matter to court or seek government intervention, which could prove costly for him. Another concern was that if all the landowners united, it would spell disaster for Balram.

To counter this, Balram decided to play a different game. He began searching for Tapsvi's weaknesses and discovered that Tapsvi had only two daughters and no son. This information proved to be valuable to Balram."

"When Balram learned about Tapsvi's family situation, he burst into a wicked laughter, revealing a sinister grin. It was unclear what was brewing in his mind, but he began concocting various plans, his mind racing with devious strategies."

"After a few days, only two days were left for the month to end. Most of the villagers in Balmapur had agreed to sell their land, leaving only a handful of people, including Tapsvi Ji, who refused to give up their land, knowing its true value.

A somber atmosphere had settled in Tapsvi Ji's household. His daughters were visibly upset, and Dadi's constant taunts only added to their misery."

"Tapsvi Ji's daughters, Palak and Nandini, were both in college. Palak was in her final year of graduation, while Nandini was in 12th grade. Palak had been seeking guidance from her college mates to help her father save their land. She believed that since the land was rightfully theirs, no one could forcibly evict them. If they took the matter to court, they might emerge victorious.

After college, Palak went to meet a lawyer, whose reputation had been recommended by one of her friends."

"After meeting the lawyer, Palak learned that if all the documents were in her parents' name, no one could forcibly evict them. She gained valuable insights and information.

Leaving the lawyer's office, Palak went straight to the police station and filed an FIR, anticipating that the land grabbers would try to forcefully evict them in two days. By informing the police beforehand, Palak took proactive measures.

Palak was doing everything in her power to protect her family's land. When she returned home late, her grandmother scolded her, but Palak patiently listened to her concerns."

"Her grandmother further scolded, 'Your father is already burdened with so many problems, and you two are doing as you please, roaming around recklessly!' She continued to rebuke them, causing Palak distress. However, Palak remained determined to support her father and didn't reveal to anyone at home about her visit to the lawyer and the police station."

"After a month, the entire family was on edge. Tapsvi Ji, Garima Ji, their daughters, and even Dadi were all anxious, each lost in their own worries. When morning arrived, Garima Ji cautiously opened the door, fearful that the land grabber might be waiting outside. However, to her relief, there was no one there... yet."

"Today, Palak and Nandini didn't go to college, aware that the land grabber would likely show up. How could any family member leave home in such a state? Tapsvi Ji got ready as usual and left for his shop, hiding his anxiety to prevent his family from worrying.

As he was about to leave, Palak called out to him, 'Papa, I'll come with you to the shop today!'"

"Tapsvi Ji understood that his daughters were worried, and he tried to reassure them, 'No, beta, stay home. I know what's on your mind, but don't worry, I'm your father.'

But daughters can be stubborn. Palak quickly put on her shoes and was ready to accompany her father. Even Dadi scolded her, but Palak wouldn't listen. Tapsvi Ji had to give in and took Palak with him to the shop.

As the afternoon wore on, the shopkeepers were chatting among themselves. Some were saying, 'He might not show up. If he was going to come, he would have already arrived.'"

"As the afternoon turned into evening, Ved still hadn't arrived, and Tapsvi Ji began to think that maybe he wouldn't show up after all. But at 4:40 pm, three cars pulled up, and the sound of their engines caught everyone's attention. The nearby shopkeepers rushed outside, and one of them spread the news to everyone.

Tapsvi Ji and Palak soon learned that Ved had arrived. As they stepped out of their shop, Palak's fear took over, and she began to tremble. She quickly grabbed her phone and started typing a message to someone, and even made a call to someone, which caught Tapsvi Ji off guard."

"As Ved stepped out of the car, two police vehicles suddenly arrived on the scene. Everyone was stunned, wondering who had called the police, especially since Ved had previously threatened them.

The shopkeepers exchanged curious glances, trying to figure out who had informed the police. Just then, Palak rushed towards the police officer, panting, and exclaimed, 'Sir, this is the man who has been threatening us! He gave us a month's notice and has returned today. Some people have become his stooges and are willing to sell their land, but we refuse to give in. Please tell those who are willing to sell to take their money, but we won't budge!'"

"As Palak spoke, Ved listened intently, his eyes narrowing. The police officers were about to approach Ved when Tiger intervened, stopping them and pulling them aside to converse.

Watching this, Palak's fear grew, worrying that the police might be in cahoots with them. Ved's gaze was fixed on Palak, his eyes unblinking, as if he was struggling to contain his anger."
