"It was evening in Balmapur village, and the shop owners had spent the entire day deliberating. The situation was escalating as more and more people were willing to sell their land. Those who had already agreed to sell were convincing others to do the same, suggesting they could buy land elsewhere with the money they received.
As a result, they had managed to persuade almost everyone, leaving only 5-6 people who were still unwilling to give up their land. The villagers had divided into two groups. Group A, consisting of Tapsvi Ji, Mohan Ji, and a few others, refused to sell their land."
"The group that formed as Group B consisted of people who were willing to sell their land. As the divide between the two groups grew, Group B decided to take matters into their own hands and visit the Continental Hotel to negotiate the sale of their land.
Group A, led by Tapsvi, tried to reason with them, realizing the gravity of the situation. Tapsvi felt helpless and, with folded hands, pleaded with them, 'Please don't do this. If we sell our land, we'll be left with nothing. The value of this land is immense, which is why Bhavesh is after us. He knows that the land's value will far exceed the money he's offering in the future.'"
"Tapsvi continued to shout and plead, but his words had no effect on anyone. Everyone had turned against him, consumed by greed, as they would receive a hefty sum of money.
Tapsvi openly declared, 'Those who want to sell their land can do so, but I will not sell mine, no matter what I have to do.'"
"Tapsvi and Mohan Ji retreated to their respective shops. The remaining people discussed among themselves, 'If we don't give up the land, they'll take it by force within a month and won't even pay us. We'll be left with nothing and end up on the streets. It's better to take the money they're offering and start our businesses again elsewhere.'
Team B made up their minds to sell their land and informed the others. They all gathered and headed to the Continental Hotel together."
"When Ved learned that the villagers were willing to sell their land, he summoned them to the hotel's hall. However, upon not seeing Tapsvi Ji, Ved's face turned red with anger. In a condescending tone, he addressed the villagers, 'So, you're all willing to sell your land, but your leader isn't? I want the entire land area of that region.'
One of the villagers stepped forward and replied, 'Sir, we're willing to sell our land, and we've even asked him to do the same. But he's not cooperating. Now it's up to you to decide what to do. We've tried to reason with him, but he's not listening.'"
"The man's words were met with Ved's response, 'Alright, I'll call another meeting tomorrow. If everyone is on board, fine. Otherwise, I'll find a way to acquire the land myself.'
Ved's words sent shivers down their spines. However, the man replied, 'Sir, we're willing to cooperate, and we need the money.'
Ved sneered, 'If you're all so desperate for money, then convince the others as well. Take as much money as you want and leave.'"
"They lingered for another 5 minutes before Ved dismissed them. After they left, around 7:00 pm, Tapsvi Ji, Mohan Ji, and the others arrived at the Continental Hotel to meet Ved. They sat downstairs, waiting for Ved to arrive."
"When Ved arrived, he assumed that these people had also agreed to sell their land. However, Tapsvi Ji, with folded hands, pleaded, 'Some of our brothers have agreed to sell their land, but they don't realize the difficulties they'll face in the future. Please look for land elsewhere, but spare our land. Let us live in peace.'
Tapsvi Ji and Mohan Ji spoke in unison, begging for mercy and pleading to save their land. However, Ved remained unmoved, refusing to listen to their
appeals."
"Ved extended his hand and said, 'I've made it clear that I'll acquire this land, no matter what. I'm giving you a month's time. If you change your mind, fine. Otherwise, don't say later that I didn't warn you.'
The argument between Tapsvi Ji and Ved continued for almost an hour. Eventually, Ved didn't want to debate further and got up to leave. While Tapsvi Ji and Ved were conversing, Tapsvi Ji's phone started ringing. He ignored the first call, but when it rang again, he answered it, as it was a call from his home. As soon as he said 'hello'..."
"On the other end of the call, Garima Ji spoke anxiously, 'How long have you been gone? You haven't come home, and your shop is closed too?'
Tapsvi Ji, sounding worried, replied, 'What happened? Did you go to the shop?'
Garima Ji responded, 'Palak isn't feeling well. That monster pulled her hair so hard that she's experiencing severe pain in her head. If you come home quickly, I'll take her to the hospital.'"
"Tapsvi Ji's anxiety grew as he asked, 'What happened to my child? Is she okay?'
As Tapsvi Ji spoke, his anger towards Ved intensified, and he glared at him. Ved, too, returned the gaze, sensing the mention of Tapsvi Ji's child.
Tapsvi Ji continued, 'Okay, I'll keep the call. I'll come home and then we'll go to the hospital.'
After ending the call, Tapsvi Ji looked at Ved with hatred-filled eyes and said, 'You've wronged my child, and you'll never be happy.'"
"After speaking, Tapsvi Ji left, and Ved's eyebrows furrowed in thought. He wondered what he had done and mentally questioned himself, 'I didn't even lay a hand on his daughter, so why is this old man blaming me?'
Ved was devoid of empathy or compassion. With his hands in his pockets, he walked into the hotel with an air of superiority, as if nothing could affect him.
Tapsvi Ji rushed home, and upon arrival, found Garima Ji, Dadi, and everyone else waiting for him to arrive."
"As soon as Tapsvi Ji arrived, Garima Ji told him everything. Then, they took their daughter to a nearby clinic, where the doctor administered an injection and prescribed medication. Afterward, they returned home.
Meanwhile, in his hotel room, Ved sat drinking and reflecting on the events of the past few hours. He thought about the first team that visited, their discussions, and the second team's conversations. One question lingered, however - Tapsvi Ji's statement that he would never forgive Ved for what happened to his daughter.
Ved pondered for a long time, wondering why Tapsvi Ji said that, as he hadn't done anything to his daughter. The mystery bothered him, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss."
"After much contemplation, Ved couldn't find an answer and decided to call it a night. He had his dinner and went to sleep."
"The next morning, Ved had to rush to Mumbai for an urgent matter that couldn't be resolved without his presence. Before leaving for Mumbai, he first visited Balmapur village to remind everyone that he would return in a month.
As soon as Ved arrived, the villagers gathered around him. Without listening to their concerns, Ved spoke authoritatively, 'Exactly one month from today, I'll meet you all again. At that time, I won't give you any more time, but...? You're intelligent, you understand what I mean.'"
"With a sly smile, Ved got into his car and sat down. No one uttered a word. Those who had agreed to sell their land shrugged and returned to their shops. Meanwhile, those who refused to sell looked dejected, their faces hung low as they walked back to their shops."
