New workers

Su Wan woke up today a bit nervous for her tour with the second male lead. He was a devoted person with a cunning attitude behind his straight personality but he ends up becoming love brained by the female lead by just one encounter.

I soothed myself thinking that it doesn't matter anyway since I'm no longer going to have anything to do with the prince and his annoying female lead so he has no reason to execute me.

But I was dressed beautifully by the maids with Mari being the most enthusiastic person amongst them all earnestly choosing a dress to wear nagging me that first impression is the most important.

So I ended up dressed more than normal so I was quite nervous when the Duke was dazed once we met infront of my estate.

"Is there something on my face" I asked nervous to the point of using 'earth' slang

"No you look beautiful" he said shaking his head then offering his hand.

I blushed because I didn't hear comments like that in my past life nor in this life said with such sincerity; not to mention the person who said it is a man dressed as handsome as his face.

The carriage ride was awkward with both of us not knowing what to say so I cleared my throat and offered to be the sacrifice to clear the air

"What is the Duke interested in visiting first" I said with my most professional 'customer service' smile.

"The local stops since I'm not too familiar with the capital" he replied back.

I thought about it and took him to the most popular spots from the original owner's memory. Aside from being crazy about the prince, she does love to spend lavishly on the most famous places but it was to be expected with all the money that was practically used to spoil her senseless.

The first few places were done in a perfunctory manner but later one the air eased and I found him to be a very interesting person.

But unfortunately good times don't last as we were stopped by that damn dog of a prince. He was in a dress shop choosing a dress for the female lead while she looked embarrassed and shy telling him that there is no need to.

Ah, I remember that there was a scene where the rumors of the relationship between them originated from and that was when he took her as his partner to the summer banquet. He boldly declared the dissolution of his engagement which started the original owner's mad dash to kill her eventually becoming the major villain.

Just thinking about it made me angry. He could have just done it in a normal way but he had to embarrass her infront of everyone then slap her face by declaring a commoner to be better than her as his fiance.

I have reason to suspect that the original owner did most of the crazy things because he kept dangling infront of her eyes trying to embarrass her. This damn dog prince.

So Su Wan tried to run away but his nose must be that of a dog because he completely sniffed her out and ordered for her to stop.

"Greetings your highness" she saluted begging him not to do anything

"Did you follow us here" he said frowning. Damn narcissist fool thinks that it's all about him; Su Wan cursed him in her head and thought of the answer.

"Does it look like I did" let's just be vague for now. Can't have this dog of a man try to gain an interest in me.

He frowned with clear disgust on his face and hugged the female lead behind him.

Su Wan could already see where this was going so she made a tactful retreat

"I seem to realize that you are preoccupied with something so I'll visit another day" she said bowing then running away.

Su Wan breathed a sigh of relief then looked at the chuckling man beside her embarrassed. She had dragged him away by hand in a haste so she was embarrassed.

"The lady doesn't like the crown prince that much" he asked curiously.

"Who likes that dog of a man" Su Wan spat out before realizing what she said. It's probably because of the high emotions from running away that she unconsciously called him a 'dog' like she always does in her head. She was embarrassed again

"Let's go to somewhere else" she said running away as her cheeks burned blaming it all on that dog of a prince.

Zephyrine POV

I wore my maid clothes and was munching on the snacks I bought still thinking of the glances the miss and the Duke were exchanging in the car. I got to see the legendary 'awkward first tension' between the male and female lead and all I can say was that it was really nerve wracking being apart of it.

"You're late" a voice called from the darkness as Derrick walked out leisurely.

"I was hungry besides what do you need" he obviously won't be so enthusiastic to meet with me unless he has a job for me to do.

"I need you to find me worker's" he said leaning on the wall.

"With your ability, you don't need my help with anything" I said. He was better than anyone I know so this should be something easier for him

"I can't manage them because my identity is sensitive and for some reason I feel it would be better for you to handle this" he said coming off the wall to walk to a carriage that was used by commoner's.

It seems he's doing some secret things for the Duke. It sounds cool like a spy or a hidden guard so I made an oh sound with my mouth and entered the carriage too.

"Are you good in magic" I asked curiously

"This place is too low class" he replied leaning back.

He seems to be right as compared to the other worlds like cultivation or other awakened worlds.

"Where should we go to" he asked me leisurely.

Hmm. The easiest place to find talented people can only be two places. First is the slave market where the slaves are sold which is a standard for finding strong characters who are loyal. The second is the slums where you can cultivate children.

"Slave market" I said and he nodded.

I nibbled on my snacks admiring his face until we reached the slave market. It was exactly as depicted with beastmen and human beings in cages, fat men with greedy faces abusing them.

A fat man came to us mistaking us for servants sent by a rich family but we directly ignored him.

"See anyone you like" I asked him but he didn't say and left it to me.

I suddenly had a brilliant idea and conjured up an ice spike. I went to the cells were they seemed most devoid of life and aimed the ice spikes at their heart.

Most of them didn't dodge so I dispelled the ice spike just as at scratched their chest. The selective few that did dodge even though they were too weak to do it accurately were chosen while the expenses were covered by Derrick.

The same thing was repeated at the part of the slums that were the most dangerous or the most secluded until some people were chosen.

The ages were from 12 to 15 with any less too young or older with not enough fight. The result was 20 beast kin( same age range) and children with gloomy expression looking at us fiercely.

I looked at them with happy eyes because I wanted to tease them so much. You have to know my aesthetics so those who were not cute or handsome were not even part of the choices so although they were sunken but they could grow up to be cute/handsome or beautiful boys and girls. Yes there were few girls mixed in.

Derrick looked at their expressions and gave a slow smile that made them all shiver especially when the air seemed to turn extremely cold . They have high instincts so they know the gaze of a predator quite clearly.

While I was thinking that his intimidating smile is so handsome. The air was chilly but I was shivering in appreciation.

I finally saw the 'slow dangerous smile' of a big shot that 'could make the air freeze'
