...Chapter Twelve: Endings and Beginnings II...

Seléne sighed, her shoulders sinking slightly as she glanced toward Flore, the boy who had tried to provoke Jarline. He clenched his fists tightly at his sides, his jaw tense, but he held back his anger. Despite his silence, the frustration on his face was clear.

"It’s alright, bro," Mark said, patting Flore on the back. His tone was casual, but his words were sharp. "You know that b*tch will break easily if you face her head-on."

Flore, with his broad, muscular frame, looked intimidating. If he grew older, it was easy to imagine him as a massive, imposing man. But his dark brown skin and rough features earned him cruel nicknames like "turtle face" from Jarline, Gelly, and Jerly. His appearance wasn’t the only issue—his bad attitude and lack of manners often made him unpopular.

Seléne stepped closer, her calm yet firm gaze meeting Flore’s. "Let it go. Small things shouldn’t turn into big problems," she said plainly, her voice steady. She knew Flore’s temper and background well enough to be cautious. His family’s history of crime wasn’t something to overlook, and while she didn’t judge him outright, she remained vigilant.

Flore glanced at her but said nothing. Seléne waited for a moment before turning away, her words meant to defuse any lingering tension. She joined Rayzamie and Angeline, who stood by the door, waiting for her.

As they walked out together, Seléne’s thoughts drifted back to Jarline. Jarline, you might be digging your own grave if you don’t watch who you’re picking fights with, she thought, her brows furrowing. This girl just can’t hold her tongue. What a pain.

After several days of practice, the long-awaited completion and graduation ceremonies arrived. The two events were held on the same day, but at different times. For Seléne, it marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

She noticed how her connection with Joven had faded. There were no messages, no conversations—nothing. It was as if they had become strangers overnight.

Everything felt like it was happening in a flash. The ceremonies were over, the short break ended, and soon, the students were preparing for their next journey.

Seléne stood at the edge of this new beginning, her thoughts wandering. Senior high school. A new chapter, she thought. But deep inside, an uneasy feeling surfaced. A journey that might lead into the light—or the darkness.

She shook her head slightly, trying to brush the thought aside, and continued walking.

As Seléne walked forward, the faint sound of laughter and chatter from her classmates faded behind her. The day was over, and so was another chapter of her life. Little did she know, the journey ahead would test her in ways she had never imagined.
