"Do you want to learn fencing? Why are you asking for that so suddenly, Ciel? You're about to be engaged, I don't think it's necessary." The count speaks with complete seriousness.
"Father, I will be the wife of the great general, I think that as such, I should at least know a little, don't you think?" Ciel insists.
It would be a shame that being about to become the wife of such a well-known general, she was so weak, although in reality she is not. Ciel tells her father that as the wife of the great general, it is likely that she will have to accompany him on expeditions when they last more than a month, so it would be appropriate for her to know how to defend herself.
The count remains silent, Ciel is right, Duke Ronchembert usually goes on expeditions outside the kingdom that last more than a month and Ciel will probably have to go with him so as not to stay alone in the family mansion. The count authorizes Ciel to practice fencing and even tells her that he will ask Captain Gales to teach her. Ciel thanks him and leaves the office satisfied with her achievement, because she will be able to learn to defend herself.
"How can you be so happy when you are about to marry the beast?" Avery comments.
"Oh, sister! When will you learn that appearances are deceiving? But answering your question, I am happy because Father has allowed me to learn fencing." She boasts.
"And what do you want to learn that for? That's a man's thing, you're crazy." Avery complains.
"Dear sister, I am about to be the wife of the strongest man in the kingdom, of course I must be on par with him." She smiles maliciously."Just as you want to be the wife of the most stupid man, then you must be stupid."
Avery is startled to hear Ciel's words, her younger sister never spoke to her in that way, she was never so rude with her words, but now she only released sharp words against her. Avery raised her hand with the obvious intention of hitting Ciel, but she didn't seem scared, which made her stop.
"You are hateful, I hope that man kills you." She shouts angrily.
Having said this, Avery left the place at an accelerated pace, since she woke up after that accident, Ciel has been behaving strangely and unlike before when she always seemed to admire her, now she seems to only limit herself to annoying her. While Ciel only shrugs her shoulders, maybe she deserved it, she started by making fun of what she wants to do.
As the days passed, Ciel trained arduously under the tutelage of Captain Gales, she had even managed to get her father to give her a suitable sword, it was thin, with a simple handle, this gave her the lightness she needed.
On the other hand, Avery went back and forth from tea parties after her punishment was lifted, thanks to this, she has been able to meet the second prince a couple of times, and that morning, Avery was happier than other days, immediately presuming that she had gotten an invitation from the second prince, to drink tea with the queen and this time no one can ruin that day, she even insists that her mother accompany her, to which the countess refuses, although it was a great opportunity to be in the presence of the queen, the countess could not go, because that afternoon, Duke Ronchembert would arrive to meet with the count and her as wife and mother of Ciel, must be present.
"It's not fair, is it more important to receive that beast in the house? Mom, this is more important, you will meet the queen in person." Avery insists.
"Don't make me punish you again Avery, your mother stays as hostess of the Levallois mansion." The count scolds her.
"It's not fair, father, you take more importance to Ciel's engagement and not to mine." She pouts.
"What engagement? As far as I know, you are not engaged and you rejected the one that was destined for you, so shut up or you will be punished again." He warns.
Avery frowns her lips at the scolding, but it was convenient for her to remain silent if she wanted to leave that house before her guest arrived, it was horrible to have to be in the presence of that man whom everyone calls the beast, he surely has a horrible appearance and a thirst for blood.
As soon as breakfast was over, Avery left without continuing with her complaints, while the countess took Ciel to look for an elegant dress, her future wife was about to arrive and she must look good. The countess chose a navy blue dress for her, with beautiful details that give it a touch of elegance.
"Oh, Ciel! Look at yourself, the duke will fall in love with you." The countess comments with excitement.
"Surely he has seen more beautiful women throughout his travels." She responds."As long as he doesn't hate me, I'll be fine."
"Don't rule out that he falls in love with you, look at your father and me, we learned to love each other." The countess assures.
"Only time will tell, besides, it shouldn't have been pleasant for him to know that his fiancee changed."
It makes her wonder, what is his opinion regarding the change? The story mentioned that Aleksander liked Avery and that is why he accepted the engagement, if so, will he not be angry about the change? That, she will only be able to know when he arrives.
The countess orders the maids to give the young woman a nice hairstyle, while she retires, since she must also get ready. Meanwhile, Avery hurriedly left the mansion in the company of her two maids and her escorts; she was happy because it was her opportunity to meet and impress the queen, she will show her parents that they can also be proud of her.
Upon arriving at the palace, she was received by the maids, who guided her to the greenhouse where the small party would be held, Avery was happy thinking that she would only be in the company of Darrell and the queen, but to her surprise, there were other girls in that place. Even so, Avery entered with her head held high and greeted the queen in the best possible way, bowing as she had been taught and introduced herself to the woman.
The queen scrutinized her with a glance, and then made a gesture of annoyance when looking at Darrell, who only stood up to indicate to Avery where to sit, unfortunately for the girl, her seat was on the other side of the table, while next to Darrell was another girl, who showed a slight mocking smile at Avery. This girl was Darrel's younger sister, Amarissa.
"Nice dress Miss Levallois, where did you buy it? At the doll store?" Amarissa mocks.
Avery lowers her gaze at her comment, clenching the skirt of her dress while listening to the giggles of the other women.
"Darling, don't say those things, it's normal that not all of us have good taste." The queen adds."Miss Levallois, forgive Amarissa's comment, she is still very young."
"Don't worry Your Majesty, it doesn't bother me, it's good to know the opinion of others." She responds nervously.
"Miss Levallois is right." Darrell comments."Please, be kind, surely she was nervous about drinking tea with Her Majesty that she didn't know what to wear." He adds.
Avery nods at the prince's words. Leaving aside that comment, the conversation took another turn, although the queen only spoke with the other girls and Darrell, while Avery did not know how to join the conversation, and when they made sarcastic comments against her, she only forced herself to laugh, even when she wanted to yell at those women, she had to be quiet, to show a good education to the queen and Darrell.
