The Perfect Housewife

Chapter 16: The Perfect Housewife

Ryan had reached his limit. Every cell in his body was screaming at him to kick Joshua out before the man caused more trouble—or worse, made him blush with that infuriating smirk. But Joshua, as always, seemed to read his thoughts like a book and wasn’t budging. "It's not at all good for my cherry"he said in a low voice.

"Joshua, look, this is my space, okay? And I don’t think you’re… suitable for it. It's messy, chaotic, and you—” Ryan gestured dramatically around the apartment, “—have OCD. There’s dust everywhere. You’re probably already getting hives just sitting here!”

Joshua raised an eyebrow, leaning back on Ryan's couch. “Dust, huh?” He brushed an invisible speck off his sleeve. “Ryan, do you really think I don’t know what you’re doing?”

Ryan's eyes darted. “What am I doing? I’m just stating facts. This place is like a health hazard. You should probably leave before you… die.”

Joshua chuckled, the deep rumble sending shivers up Ryan’s spine. “Nice try. You forget—I lived with you once. If I survived that... I can survive this.”

Ryan groaned, realizing Joshua wasn’t going to take the bait. “Fine! What do you want, then?”

Joshua grinned. “I’m hungry. Cook something for me.”

Ryan's jaw dropped. “Are you serious? First, you barge into my home uninvited. Now you want me to cook for you?”

Joshua shrugged, completely unbothered. “You did say you’re trying to get rid of me. Feed me, and I might just leave faster.”

Ryan crossed his arms. “Or I could starve you and make you leave that way.”

Joshua tilted his head, his eyes glinting mischievously. “You could… but then you’d miss the chance to show off how you’ve improved in the kitchen since college. Back then, your pasta could’ve been classified as a weapon.”

“It was experimental!” Ryan snapped, but the memory of Joshua laughing over the unseasoned, overcooked noodles made his ears turn red.

With a resigned sigh, Ryan stormed into the kitchen. “Fine! But don’t complain if you get food poisoning!”

Half an hour later, Ryan emerged with a steaming plate of spaghetti and set it on the table with a dramatic thud. “There. Eat. And choke on it .”

But instead of sitting down to eat, Joshua stood by the window, his phone pressed to his ear. Ryan frowned, noticing a commotion outside his apartment.

“What’s going on?” Ryan asked suspiciously.

Joshua ended the call, pocketed his phone, and turned back to Ryan with a sly smile. “Oh, just a little something to make your life easier.”

“What are you talking about?” Ryan demanded, narrowing his eyes.

At that moment, Ryan’s front door opened, and several people in cleaning uniforms marched in with brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners. Ryan froze in place, his jaw dropping as they immediately started tidying up his apartment.

“What the—Joshua!” Ryan yelled, spinning around to face him. “What did you do?!”

Joshua leaned casually against the wall, his arms crossed as he watched the chaos unfold. “You said the place was messy, didn’t you? Consider this a favor.”

Ryan stomped toward him, furious. “I didn’t ask for a cleaning crew! This is my house! My mess!”

Joshua smirked, leaning down to whisper in Ryan’s ear, his voice dripping with playful teasing. “And now you look like the perfect little housewife—cooking dinner while your husband takes care of the rest.”

Ryan froze, his face turning an alarming shade of red. “WHAT did you just say?”

Joshua straightened, grinning shamelessly. “You heard me.”

Ryan opened his mouth to retort but found himself utterly speechless. He glanced around the now-spotless living room, then back at Joshua’s smug face. “You… you’re impossible.”

Joshua shrugged, picking up the plate of spaghetti. “And yet, here I am. Hungry and in a spotless home. You’re welcome. But this spaghetti doesn't look edible at all.Baby, you need to work up on it”

Ryan grumbled incoherently, retreating to the kitchen to avoid combusting on the spot. Joshua’s laughter followed him, warm and irritatingly charming.
