The Investigation Begins

Chapter 4: The Investigation Begins

(Ryan awakens on his couch to the persistent ringing of his doorbell. Disoriented, he glances at the clock—it's early morning. He drags himself to the door and opens it to find two police officers standing solemnly.)

Officer Park: (flashing his badge) Good morning. Are you Ryan Kim, brother of Daniel Kim?

Ryan: (rubbing his eyes) Yes, that's me. Is something wrong?

Officer Lee: May we come in? We have some difficult news to share.

(Ryan steps aside, allowing the officers to enter. They take seats in the living room, their expressions grave.)

Officer Park: Mr. Kim, we regret to inform you that your brother, Daniel, was found deceased in his apartment last night.

Ryan: (feigning shock) What? No, that can't be true. How did this happen?

Officer Lee: We're currently investigating the circumstances. When was the last time you saw or spoke with your brother?

Ryan: (pausing to think) It had been a while. We weren't very close recently. Maybe a few weeks ago?

Officer Park: We noticed two food orders at his apartment from last night, still at the door. Did you place those orders?

Ryan: (shaking his head) No, I didn't. I was here all night. I had planned to visit him, but I got caught up with work and fell asleep.

Officer Lee: Do you know if your brother was working on any recent documentaries or stories that might have put him in danger?

Ryan: (hesitating) Daniel was always secretive about his work. He mentioned something about corruption in the business sector, but he didn't share details with me.

Officer Park: (nodding) We also noticed that the CCTV cameras in his building were tampered with, and there are no signs of forced entry. Additionally, we didn't find any fingerprints of yours at the scene, even though you mentioned you had planned to visit.

Ryan: (thinking quickly) As I said, I never made it there last night. And it's been a while since I last visited, so any prints of mine would have likely faded by now.

Officer Lee: Understood. If you think of anything else that might help our investigation, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Ryan: (nodding) Of course. I want to find out who did this as much as you do.

(The officers hand Ryan their contact information and stand to leave.)

Officer Park: Again, we're sorry for your loss. We'll be in touch if we have further questions.

(Ryan closes the door behind them, his mind racing. He recalls touching Daniel's shirt and the door during his visit. The absence of his fingerprints suggests someone meticulously cleaned the scene after he left. The realization sends a chill down his spine.)

Ryan: (to himself) Joshua... What have you done?

This is way more tangled then i thought.

(He paces the room, grappling with the implications. Joshua's involvement is deeper than he initially thought, and the danger surrounding Daniel's death is far from over.)

Ryan: (determined) I need to find out the truth. For Daniel. And for myself.Where should I start ?What led you to your death, Hyung?

(As the weight of his brother's death settled in, Ryan's initial shock gave way to profound grief. His legs weakened, and he sank to his knees, tears streaming down his pale cheeks. The Memories of their strained relationship flooded his mind, intensifying the pain of loss.

In this moment of vulnerability, Ryan's emotions overwhelmed him, and he wept openly for the brother he had lost.)
