The morning sunlight poured into Sunghoon's room, but even its warmth couldn’t pull him from his trance. His dream was still vivid—an unfamiliar face, a serene smile, and a voice that seemed to wrap around his heart like a warm blanket. He shook his head, trying to focus, but the memory lingered like the echo of a song he couldn’t forget.
Jay, his childhood friend and only confidant, walked beside him as they made their way to school.
“Why are you so out of it?” Jay asked, nudging him. “You’re usually quiet, but today you look… lost.”
Sunghoon hesitated before finally admitting, “I had this dream last night. It felt… strange. Real, almost.”
Jay raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What kind of dream? Did you finally meet your soulmate or something?”
Sunghoon rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress the faint blush creeping up his cheeks. “It’s not like that. I just… I saw someone I’ve never met before. A guy. His face, his voice, everything—it felt like I knew him, but I don’t. I can’t stop thinking about it.”
Jay smirked. “Sounds like someone’s got a dream boyfriend.”
“Jay, I’m serious,” Sunghoon shot back, his tone sharper. “I don’t know why, but it’s bothering me. It wasn’t just any dream. It felt too real.”
Jay’s smirk faded as he noticed Sunghoon’s serious expression. “Alright, alright. Maybe you’re overthinking it. But hey, if this dream guy is real, you better introduce him to me.”
Sunghoon chuckled despite himself, but deep down, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this dream was more than just his imagination.
Meanwhile, at Seoul University, Sunoo sat at the cafeteria table with Jungwon and Ni-Ki. The bustling chatter of students filled the room, but Sunoo’s mind was elsewhere.
“Earth to Sunoo,” Jungwon called, snapping his fingers in front of Sunoo’s face.
“Huh?” Sunoo blinked, snapping out of his daze.
“What’s up with you?” Jungwon asked. “You’ve been spacing out all morning.”
Sunoo sighed, twirling his spoon in his soup. “I had this dream last night. It was… weird. There was this guy. I’ve never seen him before, but it felt like I knew him. It was so real.”
Ni-Ki, sitting across from them, grinned mischievously. “Oh, our president is dreaming about boys now? Should I start a rumor that Sunoo’s fallen for some mysterious dream guy?”
“Ni-Ki!” Sunoo exclaimed, throwing a napkin at him.
Jungwon chuckled. “Don’t mind him. He’s just being his usual annoying self.”
“I’m just saying,” Ni-Ki said, leaning back in his chair. “What if this is fate? Like, you know, one of those stories where two people are connected by some cosmic force or whatever. Maybe you’ve got a soulmate out there, Sunoo.”
Sunoo rolled his eyes but couldn’t help smiling at Ni-Ki’s playful teasing. “It’s not like that. It’s just a dream. Still… it’s been bugging me all day.”
Jungwon tilted his head thoughtfully. “Maybe it’s your subconscious trying to tell you something. Or maybe it’s just a coincidence. Either way, don’t overthink it.”
Sunoo nodded, but as he laughed along with Ni-Ki’s jokes and Jungwon’s calming presence, the dream lingered in the back of his mind, a whisper he couldn’t ignore.
That night, as Sunghoon lay in his bed, staring at the amulet on his nightstand, and Sunoo stared at the same amulet hanging on his desk lamp, they both wondered: Who was the person in their dreams?
