The garden was alive with soft sunlight filtering through the trees, but for Lucifer, the weight of Luna's silence felt heavier than the quiet morning breeze. “Should we bow to you or call you ‘Sir Protector’ now?” Alen added with a mock bow.

Lucifer rolled his eyes. “You two knew exactly what I was doing. Don’t act innocent.”

“Oh, we knew,” Alex said, laughing. “But we didn’t expect you to go full Romeo on us.”

Before Lucifer could retort, his friends burst into the room, adding to the chaos. “Bodyguard, huh?” one of them teased. “You’ve been holding out on us. We had no idea about your double life!”

Lucifer threw his hands up. “Okay, okay, enough. Yes, I was Luna’s bodyguard. Yes, I fell for her back in college. And yes, I tracked her down because I couldn’t let her go.”

The room went silent for a beat before erupting into laughter. Alex clapped Lucifer on the shoulder. “Well, at least you’re honest about being hopelessly smitten.”

Lucifer pointed a finger at his brothers. “And let’s not forget, you two are the ones who pulled the strings to get me that job.”

All eyes turned to Alex and Alen, who suddenly looked sheepish. Before they could defend themselves, their mother’s voice rang out. “Wait. So not only did you two help him with this scheme, but you also lied to us?”

The room shifted as their parents turned their stern gazes on Alex and Alen. Lucifer stepped back, a grin spreading across his face as his brothers were subjected to the full force of their parents’ lectures.

“Do you have any idea how reckless that was? What if something had happened to him?” their father said, pacing.

“And covering for him? Honestly, the two of you are supposed to be the responsible ones!” their mother added.

Lucifer leaned against the wall, arms crossed, thoroughly enjoying the spectacle. His brothers shot him looks that promised payback, but he simply smiled wider.

As the scolding continued, one of his friends whispered to him, “You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?”

Lucifer chuckled. “More than you know.”

For the first time in weeks, he felt a sense of peace. His family was chaotic, nosy, and a little overbearing, but they were his. And with Luna waiting for him, he realized he had everything he could ever need.
