Aurora Thompson's world was turned upside down the moment she woke up in the hospital. Groggily, she opened her eyes to find a nurse smiling at her.

"Good morning, Ms. Thompson. How are you feeling?"

Aurora tried to speak, but her voice was hoarse. She cleared her throat and attempted again. "W-what happened?"

The nurse's expression turned sympathetic. "You were brought in last night with severe stomach pains. The doctor will be in to see you soon."

Aurora's mind was a blur. She vaguely remembered going out with friends the night before, but everything after that was a blank.

The doctor arrived, and Aurora's anxiety spiked. "Ms. Thompson, you're going to be okay. But we did find something unexpected during your examination."

Aurora's heart skipped a beat. "W-what is it?"

The doctor's expression was gentle. "You're pregnant, Ms. Thompson. About nine months pregnant, to be exact."

Aurora's world went dark.

Aurora Thompson pushed her cart filled with cleaning supplies through the deserted office building. As a janitor, she was used to the quiet, solitary work. It gave her time to think.

As she emptied the trash cans and wiped down the desks, Aurora's mind wandered to her struggles. She had been working double shifts to make ends meet, but it was barely enough to cover her rent.

Just as she was finishing up her rounds, Aurora felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She doubled over, clutching her abdomen.

The next thing she knew, she was waking up in a hospital bed.

Aurora felt like she'd been punched in the gut. Twins? How was she going to raise two babies on her own? She was barely scraping by as it was.

The doctor continued to explain the situation, but Aurora's mind was reeling. She couldn't think straight. All she could think about was how she was going to provide for two tiny human beings.

As the nurse came in to prep her for delivery, Aurora felt a sense of panic wash over her. She was completely unprepared for this. No nursery, no diapers, no baby clothes...nothing.

But as she looked down at her swollen belly, Aurora felt a surge of determination. She was going to do this. She was going to be a good mother to these two tiny babies, no matter what.
