Chapter: 3 : Strings

The next day, Aubrie gets ready, all neat in a royal blue dress with floral print in it. She stands up in front of her mirror, looking at herself all pitiful. She looked at the clock that was hanging in the middle of the wall, isolated just like her in this house, and the only thing that she could compare herself to in this house. Everything else seems to have its own minimal pride protected at the least, unlike hers. It's only 6 o'clock in the morning. She couldn't sleep a wink last night. She called Ms. Rose for a cup of coffee. She didn't take long to make a simple yet refreshing latte at her table. She looked at Aubrie and felt the urge to suggest a small walk on the lawn.

"You might feel the smell of evening primrose at night. But there are more kinds of flowers planted in the garden which are very refreshing in the morning, in case you might want to take a small walk, I would love to direct you to the way."

As politely as the head maid suggested, Aubrie also refused her in the same way. Instead, she preferred to sit on the balcony. So the maid nodded and left the room. The taste of the latte felt more refreshing to start the day, along with the sweet smell of blossoms and the sun shining through the morning mist. It was worth looking at. She muttered to herself as she felt amused to find something to relieve her stress, which was unexpected. *sign* "This was a better sight of this house than I expected."

But her peace didn't last long as she was called out soon to the breakfast table. She comes down to the stairs and stops for a moment in between as she stunts to see a lot of people at the table than she expected. "Holly sh*t!!" she whispered. She tried her best not to show annoyance on her face, as she had a pretty obvious face. But it didn't help, so Gavin came beside her in between the time and probably heard her cursing. He coughs, acting to clear his throat, and whispers, "Careful, my lady." She smiles at his relatives but gives a clear warning to her. "Your pretty face is speaking too loudly, and also, please be careful not to be digging your own grave on your first day." After saying that, he smoothly slips his hand into hers and takes her closer to the dining table, and starts greeting everyone. "She is Aubrie Rosario. My wife," he introduced her and started introducing everyone to Aubrie. It was as if she were a new muse to discuss at a gallery. His aunts did give her a share look and tried to pinpoint her.

"Rosario family is pretty well known now a days in this country. But look at you. Anyone would assume that they never feed you except for a long tongue to defend in public." One of his aunt said and started laughing along with some of his other relatives.

When she was about to say something with aggression, Gavin held her hand. But Gloria speaks instead, "That's called proper diet aunt. You guys are too old for that to understand cause if you did, you wouldn't have had diabetes in young age."

Mrs.McLaren slaps her on her lap and widens her eyes to warn her. She shrugs as if there was nothing she could do but to speak the fact. It was just a starter of both the taunts and her disappointing married life. They stayed the whole day and left after dinner.

She ordered another coffee after they left. Coffee was at her table as she took a bath and sat on the chair in her balcony. The aura of evening primrose is already giving sensations in her nostrils. She takes a deep breath.

"Feels like out of everything someone could have stole, they chose my sleep."
