CHAPTER 5: OLD FLAME

Diane walked through the hall in thought

*"Did I really just do all that? Damn, I thought I could go a day without getting mad. I mean I have done it for 20 years.. so why? Why now? Am I slowly losing control of my self?"*

Diane asked as she stood still for a while then gritted her teeth as she hits the wall suddenly.

*"I can't! I would be discovered and all my years of hiding and sister's sacrifice would be in vain, besides Great aunt Li is risking it all by just keeping me here I should be grateful and not cause trouble"*

Diane said as she puts on a smile heading towards Engineering department.

She walks in as it was an empty class

*" Diane: Well the bell hasn't gone off when I was heading here so it only makes sense it's an empty class"*

She thought heading to the the seat at the back where there was no light at all

" Perfect spot, no young master, no bullies, no one would love it here" Diane mumbled as she arranged her books.

She picks up the sound of heels from afar

" The class should be empty this time we left before the bell went off so we should be first right Si Ming? " A coercive lady like voice was heard

" Hmn" A cold typical reply was given back as Diane froze

*" No, it can't be.... "* Diane said in thought as Jessica stepped in, Diane gently banged her head on the table repeatedly

*"Right after I acted so boldly bragging about my good looks, that might not have seemed to be a good idea after all"* Diane said as she raised her head up leaning back on the chair, her face staring up at the ceiling, she removes her glasses cleaning her eyes out of stress

" Bro I really am serious about it, she looks genuine" Jackie said as Bobby sighed

"Remind me what I have to do with this again?"

" You just have to say hello, with your good looks she can't refuse!" Jackie whined as Jessica froze, she glares at Jessica secretly as her eyes turned cold.

" So you want to me to sell my looks for you to have friends"

" Yes!" Jackie admitted without a second thought as Bobby stared at her with a dead expression

" No" He replied walking ahead as he left Jackie frozen

"What do you mean no?! Bro!!" Jackie whined following Bobby around

*" It seems she's his twin, they don't look alike in any way, weird"* Diane mumbled then closed her eyes to a sharp pain at the back of her head.

" If you want to make friends be genuine, just walk up to her and say hi". Bobby said as Jessica smiled

" Sis, you really shouldn't do it, I heard she is a maid who was taken pity on by her master and sent here to study" Jessica said in a soft voice

" Really?" Jackie asked as Bobby froze in thought

*" That must be some great master, who is generous enough to send their maid to an elite college?"*

Diane smirked as her hair fell all over her face messed up, she closed her eyes peacefully drifting to sleep

"I don't care! I want to be friends with her!!! Brooooo" Jackie said as Jessica gritted her teeth

" Fine, fine stop whining I'll talk to her" Bobby said as Jackie smiled brightly

He scoffed with a slight smirk as he turned to Diane who seemed to be asleep facing the ceiling. Bobby approached Diane

"Hi" He said flatly as Diane's lashes flutter open revealing her silver pupils she itched her eyes for some seconds then turned to Bobby who stared at her with a raised brow

" I think this headache must be killing me, I have started hallucinating again" Diane mumbled

Bobby raised a brow as Diane placed her head back on the table

Bobby turned to Jackie who shrugged with an awkward smile, he frowned then walked out of the class as Jackie ran after him

"Hey Bro! Bro!" Jackie ran out after him as Jessica turned to Diane growling before running out with Jackie. Diane raised up her head staring at the entrance

"Curious" Diane said with a smirk as she rests her head on the table again.

5 hours later, classes were finally over, and the college close for the day. Diane wore her mask packed her books and bag walking out.

She arrives at the train station as the clouds turned dark, Diane sigh walking away from the street lights

"Not the rain" She mumbled

"Hate the rain, that's one step in knowing you" A familiar voice rang as Diane turned quickly in a defensive stance

" Calm down tigress, it's just me" Bobby said walking into the light as Diane finally saw his face clearly, a fog lifted in her head

" A blast from the past" Diane muttered

*10 years ago*

"Mom watch out!" Diane called out throwing herself forward to cover Stephanie before 2 cars collided, after the collision, Diane crawled out of the car as she ran towards the the other car, it seemed to be a Rolls Royce boat tail, the most expensive car in the world.

She blasted the door with a mini explosive search for the people in the car. There seemed to be an old man, a young man and a woman and a little boy and girl with blonde and black long hair packed in a cute pony.

The collision of the two cars had made Diane weak so she decided to help out one by one, she drew the old man out first as he was getting weaker. Then she went for the small boy and girl. He seemed to struggle to keep his eyes opened as he grabbed Diane's arm

"My...my family..." He muttered crying as Diane dropped him down safely going for his parents, she noticed blood flowing down from the man's face as his head seemed to have taken a fatal hit and he and his wife were unconscious.

Diane then ran towards Stephanie as she was also unconscious, she panted in anxiety as she didn't know what to do, She then saw her silver bracelet made by Diana in the rubble as she walked towards it weakly, she entered the car picking up the bracelet before finally giving in to the darkness that swept her off her feet.

*THE FLASHBACK ENDS*

Diane smiled in thought

*Right, The little boy has grown up now, looks like his old man* Diane said as she dropped her defenses

*Right, I couldn't save his father* Diane said in thought as she stepped back a bit.

"Weary are we?" Bobby teased

" You're a long way from home Young master Lu, You should return"

"At least I know you can talk" Bobby said as Diane frowned

"Weren't you present when I trashed your subordinate? Also you were mad when you thought I ignored you earlier so you walked out, Are you here for revenge" Diane asked as Bobby froze a bit

"Revenge, that's not far off from my idea...wait did you say I thought ?" Bobby asked surprised

" Go home" Diane replied in a cold icy voice

" Woah ice cube, you shouldn't flare up on me, I was just hanging around, I didn't know you'd be here"

Diane stared at him sarcastically making Bobby raise his 2 hands as an act of surrender

"I was just wondering..."

"Curiosity kills the cat"

" You can't be reasoned with can you? So concealed almost like you're hiding something big" Bobby asked as Diane growled

" You seem to like talking to strangers, that's not good rich boy"

" Nah, What's a stranger, just a friend you haven't met yet" Bobby winked

" Weren't you mad I ignored you earlier today?"

" You did?" Bobby asked as Diane frowned overthrowing her jacket on her shoulders then she walked away

" Wait! what's your name?! " Bobby asked as Diane stopped

"....." Diane ignored walking out of sight as the thunder stuck hard as Bobby replied with a smirk.

Diane walked under the rain, her fever got worse raising her temperature as she felt numb and broken

*Diane: Dad, is this what you truly wanted? This is what happens when people like us fall in love?*

*FLASH BACK, 15 YEARS AGO*

*Skyler: Diane remember, as the future leader of our Mafia world, you can never fall in love*

*Diane: Really? Aren't you the current leader of the Mafia world? Didn't you fall in love with mom?*

*SKYLER: (Mutters) And that's what got us where we are today...*

*DIANE: Mr Long hei, Are you saying your encounter with Mrs Long was a mistake*

*SKYLER: Yes*

*DIANE: You...*

*SKYLER: It was a mistake, now it's my most precious memory and trauma*

*DIANE: I don't understand, why won't you tell mom you are the Mafia king? Are you afraid she won't feed you for a year?"*

*SKYLER: (freezes then smiles) Yes, but that's not why*

*DIANE: Not why? Then why?*

*SKYLER: It's not the right time yet, when I finally put it all behind me and you succeed the throne, I will let go and start again with your mother*

*DIANE: I see, it all depends on my success, don't worry dad, I won't let you down, I will be the best Mafia Queen ever*

*SKYLER: Promise?* He asked with a pinkie out

*DIANE: (Raised a brow at the pinkie) What are you 3?* Diane asked as Skyler froze then waves his index finger at her as she laughed out

*DIANA: What are you guys talking about?*

*SKYLER AND DIANE: Nothing*

*FLASH BACK ENDS*

"Father, you know more than anyone what love means to our family, yet you went ahead and did it anyway, do I call you brave or stupid" Diane muttered as tears fall off her eyes flowing with the rain her eyes became red as she slowly walked in the open streets

Hours later she arrives at the hostel knocking the door.

"Coming, didn't you take your keys?" Sage asked opening the door to meet Diane soaked up in the rain, her eyes were really red and her pale white skin paler

" It's just me" Diane answered with a smile as she walked in, leaving Sage shocked by the door

"Are you..." Sage asked before Diane collapsed on the floor, unconscious

"HEY!" Sage called out running towards her, she felt her temperature

"Not good" Sage muttered as the rain increased and thunder clapped loudly. She takes out her phone to call the others as their numbers weren't reachable

"Damn it!" Sage said as she carried Diane to her bed then quickly undressed her.

She froze at the sight of the Phoenix tattooed on her back, it had red and golden feathers all over, its wings spread out and black flames under it spreading to its sides. Then she saw whip marks on her back as they looked brutal and deep, and she saw a silver metal at the back of her head connected to her heart

Sage got shocked by the tattoo, marks and metals as she turned to the unconscious Diane

*SAGE: You aren't just a maid are you?* She muttered cleaning the blood stains and wearing her a new shirt, she boils water and placed a towel in it, trying to prevent her from catching a cold.

Minutes later the girls walked in as they were noisy

"We're home!!!" Harley said as everyone phones beeped at the same time

"So many messages and missed calls" Ruby muttered as Astrid turned in the lights meeting Diane asleep on her bed with Sage sitting in the floor also asleep with a wet towel placed on Diane's forehead and her hand in it

"Well...This is not something you see everyday .." Vanna muttered in shock

" You don't say" Harley replied clicking a picture, the shutter sound woke up Sage

" You are finally back" Safe replied in a tired voice

" What happened sis?" Astrid asked in an alarmed tone

" She caught a fever and I happened to be at home so I took care of it"

" You did whaaaaa" Harley replied as Sage threw a shoe at her making her unconscious

" Any more questions? " Sage asked as they all shook their heads

" Great, Ruby take over I need a nap"

" Aye cap" Ruby said as Sage jumped unto her bed.

Hours later, Diane opened her eyes, her silver eyes shone under the moonlight rays as she shuts them back then slowly opens them again, she sits up slowly the wet towel fell to her lap, she feels something in her left wrist as she raised it up seeing a red thread tied to it, it stretched to Sage, then to Astrid, then Harley, Tamar, Vanna, Vanessa and Ruby.

Hot tears fills her eyes as they fell.

*Tying a red thread connected to 2 or more people especially if one of them is Ill means the healthy people are hoping to transfer their good health for the sick person*

Tears fell off her eyes as she silently loosened the thread on her wrist walking towards the window, the moonlight shone fiercely as she closed her eyes to it then jumped off to the roof. Sage opened her eyes after her little stunt as she followed stealthily too.

Diane sat on the roof with her legs drawn to her stomach her hair was let loose and freely flew behind her in the wind's direction. Her body radiated a bright light as she closed her eyes letting the wind fly past her face

"Basking in the moonlight?" Sage asked as Diane smiled

" You're awake... Yet you were never asleep " Diane replied as Sage walked up to her sitting beside her

" So what happened? "

" You almost died" Sage replied briefly

"A little more detail" Diane added with a smirk

" You came in with a high fever and passed out but I happened to be around so I helped out"

" That explains the towel... My marks... "

" Nobody else saw" Sage replied as Diane sighed

" I suppose you know my identity now "

" What identity? You're Diane no surname" Sage replied as Diane smiled resting her head on Sage's shoulder

" Thank you"

"One thing, The metal...How did you get it?"

" Surgery, it's a life force, my life force"

" So it can't be tampered with.. the person who put it .. " Sage asked alarmed as Diane smiled

" I predicted that, she's trustworthy"

" Ok" Sage said as she inserts a device into Diane's left ear, shocked Diane felt it

" An hearing aid?"

" Hmn, when I observed the marks on your body most of them seem to be from an explosion so your ear must be sensitive to noise"

" Tinnitus" Diane muttered with a smile as she gently stroke the hearing aid in her ear

"Must hurt a lot....." Sage muttered

"Diane?" She calls out

" Yeah? "

" Although I don't know much about you ... And only just got to know your identity today, I hope you would trust me enough as a friend or a confidant " Sage said as Diane froze raising her head, she stared into Sage's deep hazel eyes while Sage stared into her deep red eyes. The wind distorted their hair as Sage smirked, then turned to the full moon.
