THE HUNT

THE HUNT

Chapter Two: The Hunt

Karan Malhotra sat in his dimly lit office, the events of the last week replaying in his mind. He had always trusted the system, believing his work with the NSG was for the greater good. But his confrontation with Raghav and Kiara had shattered that belief.

The evidence they had presented—classified documents, financial records, and secret communications—painted a grim picture. The so-called “terrorist” attacks attributed to Raghav had actually been cover-ups orchestrated by an unknown entity. The targets weren’t random; they were people connected to a sprawling web of corruption, all tied to a single shadowy figure.

Karan exhaled deeply, staring at the files on his desk. Among them was Raghav’s dossier, now revealing a different story. He wasn’t a criminal; he was a man on a mission of justice. And Kiara, far from being a traitor, was working with him to uncover the truth.

But the truth came at a cost. Karan’s pursuit of Raghav and Kiara had disrupted their work, giving the real villain time to cover their tracks. Now, Karan knew he had to make a choice: continue to serve a broken system or join forces with the very people he had hunted.

The Alliance

Karan tracked down Raghav and Kiara in a desolate safe house outside the city. The tension in the room was palpable as they faced off.

“What are you doing here, Karan?” Kiara asked, her tone icy.

Karan raised his hands in surrender. “I’m not here to fight. I know now that I was wrong. The real enemy isn’t you.”

Raghav studied him carefully. “And why should we trust you? You almost got us killed.”

“Because I’ve seen what you’re up against,” Karan replied. “And I want to help.”

Kiara exchanged a glance with Raghav, who nodded reluctantly. “Fine. But you play by our rules. One mistake, and you’re out.”

---

The Enemy Unveiled

As they pieced together their findings, a clearer picture emerged. The unknown mastermind had been using government contracts, international businesses, and organized crime to create an empire of wealth and power. Every person Raghav had targeted was a cog in this machine.

“We’re dealing with someone who doesn’t just control the system—they are the system,” Kiara explained. “Every move we’ve made has been a step ahead of their plans. That’s why they framed us.”

Raghav added, “This isn’t just about corruption. This person will burn the entire country to protect their interests.”

Karan frowned. “Do we have a name?”

Kiara shook her head. “Not yet. But we have a lead. There’s an encrypted server at the heart of the network. If we can access it, we might find out who’s behind this.”

---

The Break-In

The team’s first mission together was to infiltrate a high-security corporate building linked to the shadowy figure. Under the cover of night, they worked seamlessly—Karan using his NSG expertise, Kiara bypassing security systems, and Raghav providing strategic oversight.

Inside the server room, Kiara worked quickly to extract the data. Suddenly, an alarm blared, and armed guards flooded the building.

“We’ve got company!” Karan shouted, taking cover.

As bullets flew, the trio fought their way out, narrowly escaping with the data. But their success came at a cost—Raghav was grazed by a bullet, and the building’s destruction ensured their enemies now knew they were closing in.

---

The Puppet Master

Back at their hideout, Kiara decrypted the data, her face darkening as she uncovered the truth. “It’s worse than we thought,” she said. “The person behind this isn’t just an individual—they’re part of a global syndicate. And their enforcer is someone we know.”

Karan leaned over her shoulder, his eyes narrowing at the name on the screen. “No... it can’t be.”

Raghav, still bandaging his wound, asked, “Who is it?”

“It’s Major Vikram Sethi,” Karan said grimly.

Vikram was a highly respected NSG officer, someone Karan had worked with closely. If he was involved, it meant the corruption ran deep within the organization itself.

---

The Trap

The team realized they couldn’t take Vikram down directly. They needed proof, and they needed to expose him without tipping off the larger syndicate.

They set a trap, leaking false information about an upcoming attack to lure Vikram into action. The plan was risky; if it failed, they would all be labeled traitors.

As the day of the operation arrived, Karan, Kiara, and Raghav positioned themselves near the rendezvous point. Vikram arrived, flanked by heavily armed mercenaries.

Karan stepped out of the shadows, his weapon drawn. “It’s over, Vikram. We know everything.”

Vikram laughed coldly. “You think this ends with me? You have no idea what you’re dealing with.”

Before Vikram could trigger the explosives strapped to his chest, Kiara fired a single shot, incapacitating him.

---

The Aftermath

With Vikram in custody, the team extracted a treasure trove of information about the syndicate. But their victory was bittersweet. The mastermind remained at large, their identity hidden behind layers of deception.

Karan, Kiara, and Raghav knew their fight was far from over. They had exposed one piece of the puzzle, but the larger conspiracy still loomed. As they prepared for the next phase of their mission, they understood one thing: the shadows they fought against were deeper and darker than they had imagined.
