The Smuggler's Heart
In dark alley~
"P-p-Plea-please... s-spare.... me..." A man in his 40's begging for his life, clutching the other man's leg, his eyes pleading for mercy, his voice is barely above a whisper. His chest heaved with labored breaths, each one shallower than the last.
"You have to think before you act." the man in his 20's said, his eyes narrowing as he gripped the hammer tightly in his hand.
"I-I'm... s-sor...ry, for... w-what-t I have d-done. Pl-please... save me."
Suddenly, there's a call.
"Hey. Seung-Ha. Boss wants to talk to you." A man came forward and gave the mobile to Seung-Ha, who is catching the hammer in his hand. Seung-Ha's eyes narrowed slightly as he took the phone, his fingers wrapping around it with a quiet intensity.
"Yes, Mr. Kim." Seung-Ha replied, his voice even.
'What happened? Is he still alive?' Mr. Kim asked for confirmation.
"I think, he's taking his last breaths." Seung-Ha said, his eyes fixed on the man lying on the ground. He nudged the person's side with his shoe, checking for any signs of life.
'Hm... Leave him there, and come back. I want to discuss something with you.'
"Ok. I'll be there soon. But, what about him. Shall I kill him completely."
'Let him die slowly. He should feel every ounce of pain, regretting every moment he wasted. He should think to himself that, why didn't we kill him earlier?'
"Understood. I'm on my way." Cut's the call.
"Mr. Kim said to leave you like this... in this alley," Seung-Ha spat, his eyes blazing with contempt. He grasped the man's hair brutally, yanking his head back. The man's scream echoed through the alley, a haunting cry of agony.
"You know what? I'm not Mr. Kim." Seung-Ha sneered, his eyes glinting with sadistic pleasure. With swift, ruthless movements, he hit the man's hands and knees with his hammer, the crunch of breaking bones echoing through the alley. Blood oozed from the man's shattered limbs, his screams growing louder, more anguished. Later, Seung-Ha's authoritative voice commanded attention.
"You're all dismissed. Return to your homes; your duties are fulfilled." The assembled individuals bowed deeply, their movements synchronized in a display of respect, acknowledging Seung-Ha's dominance.
Seung-Ha strode back to his car, his expression unyielding. He slid into the driver's seat, started the engine, and sped away from the alley. His destination was clear. Mr. Kim's opulent mansion.
In Mr. Kim's Mansion~
Seung-Ha strode into Mr. Kim's grand mansion, his presence commanding attention. As he walked, the other members bowed respectfully, acknowledging his authority. He halted briefly, inquiring about Mr. Kim's whereabouts to one of the members. Receiving the answer, Seung-Ha proceeded directly to Mr. Kim's personal cabin. He pushed open the door and stepped inside, his eyes locking onto Mr. Kim, who sat serenely behind his desk.

"You wanted to discuss something with me," Seung-Ha said, his tone neutral.
"Tomorrow's plans are all set," Mr. Kim replied, his eyes narrowing slightly. "But I've received intel that some unwanted visitors are snooping around our territory. Take care of them."
"Will do." Seung-Ha said, his expression unchanging.
"Also, I've learned that Hyun-Sik has been selling information to another group. The buyer's identity is still unknown, but be cautious."
Mr. Kim's expression turned grave, his jaw clenched in concern.
"I'm certain he shared the information with the Baekho group." Seung-Ha said, his voice firm.
"Whatever the situation, handle it." Mr. Kim ordered, his tone commanding.
"Yes, Mr. Kim." Seung-Ha replied, his expression resolute, acknowledging the task.
Seung-Ha turned to leave, but Mr. Kim's unexpected request stopped him. "Why don't you give me a hug?"
Seung-Ha's eyes widened in surprise. "Aish... Appa, I'm not a baby."
Mr. Kim's expression turned stern. "Shut up and give me a hug. Come on. Quick."
Seung-Ha's face softened into a smile as he walked over to Mr. Kim and wrapped his arms around him.
"Be careful, okay?" Mr. Kim whispered.
Seung-Ha pulled back\, his expression confident.***"Eh... I'll be alright."***
Mr. Kim nodded. "Okay, go."
Seung-Ha broke the hug and left immediately, leaving Mr. Kim to his thoughts.
The Next day~
(Seung-Ha's bedroom)
Seung-Ha woke up to the gentle morning light streaming through his window. He reached for the remote control and turned on the TV in his bedroom, the screen flickering to life as he settled back into his pillows. Seung-Ha flipped through the channels, landing on the news station. The breaking news headline caught his attention. "Hyun-Sik Found Dead in Gruesome Murder." The anchor's voice was somber as he delivered the details.
"Reports indicate that Hyun-Sik was brutally killed by an unknown assailant using a blunt object. The police are currently investigating the scene and reviewing security footage to identify the perpetrator."
Seung-Ha's expression remained neutral as he watched the news report, his eyes fixed on the screen. He got up from bed and went to take shower.
At Police Station~
The Chief of Police walked in, busy allocating tasks to his team. He entered his office accompanied by Park Min-Hwan, the Deputy Chief of Police.
"What's the lead on the Hyun-Sik case?" the Chief of Police asked, his tone firm.
"At present, nothing, sir," Park Min-Hwan replied. "We don't have any concrete evidence to pursue."
(Park Min-Hwan)
(28)
**(Police Officer)(Very determined to catch the smugglers)(tried many time but failed)(want to take revenge for his father\, who died while catching the smugglers) **
The Chief's expression turned stern. "Nothing? Why don't we have any leads?"
Park Min-Hwan hesitated before responding, "It appears the perpetrators were highly organized and preplanned the murder. They erased all potential evidence, and even altered the crime scene to avoid leaving fingerprints or DNA traces."
The Chief's face darkened, his frustration palpable.
"This is unacceptable! We can't let them get away with this. I want you to assemble a team and re-examine every inch of the crime scene. Find something, anything, that can lead us to the perpetrators."
"Yes, sir. Right away. But, sir, I have to warn you, the perpetrators seem to be highly skilled and well-connected. It won't be an easy task."
"I don't care about easy or hard. I care about justice. And I want it done yesterday. Now, get to work!"
"Wait, what about the ships? Did you find any lead?" Chief asked.
The Chief's expression remained stern. "No, sir."
"Ok, go," the Chief said, dismissing him.
Min-Hwan bowed slightly and turned to leave, muttering to himself, "Sorry, sir. I shouldn't reveal it until I confirm who the mole is, the one passing information to the smugglers."
Min-Hwan's eyes narrowed as he focused on the documents in front of him. He couldn't shake off the feeling that there was a mole within their organization, feeding information to the smugglers. Just as he was about to make a note, his phone buzzed. He hesitated for a moment before answering.
"Deputy Chief Park," he said, his voice firm.
"Min-Hwan, we've received a tip about a suspicious shipment coming in tonight," the voice on the other end said.
Min-Hwan's grip on the phone tightened. "What's the location?"
"The docks. Warehouse 3."
Min-Hwan's eyes locked onto the clock on the wall. "I'll be there."
