As Olivia sat in her bedroom, staring out the window, she couldn't help but think about Tyler. They had grown up together, living next door to each other since they were kids.

Their bedrooms were directly opposite each other, with only a narrow alleyway separating their houses. As kids, they would often talk to each other through their windows, sharing secrets and stories.

"Olivia, wait!" he called out, his voice awkward.

"Hey, Tyler," she said, trying to sound casual. "What's up?"

Tyler looked down at his feet, scratching the back of his head. "I, uh, I wanted to talk to you about earlier," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Olivia felt her face grow even hotter. "Oh, yeah?" she said, trying to play dumb.

Tyler looked up at her, his eyes locking onto hers. "I'm really sorry about what happened," he said, his voice sincere. "I don't know what came over me."

Olivia shrugged, trying to downplay the situation. "It's no big deal, Tyler," she said. "Really, it's not."

But Tyler shook his head. "No, it's a big deal," he said. "I feel like I embarrassed myself in front of you."

Olivia looked at him, seeing the genuine remorse in his eyes. "Tyler, really, it's okay," she said. "We've been friends for years. I'm not going to judge you."

Tyler smiled slightly, looking relieved. "Thanks, Olivia," he said. "You're a true friend."

As they stood there, the awkwardness slowly started to dissipate. They talked for a few more minutes, discussing everything from school to their favorite TV shows.

But despite the casual conversation, Olivia couldn't shake off the feeling that something had shifted between them. She wasn't sure what it was, but she knew that their friendship would never be the same again.
