CHANDRAMUKHI - THE FORGOTTEN FIRST WIFE - part 4

...AFTER THE FIRST ENCOUNTER OF CHANDRA AND VIKRAM IN OUTSIDE HER ROOM...

In the bedroom of chandramukhi

Chandra was sitting on the bed, she was clutching onto her knees tightly, a few tears rolling down from her eyes while she was staring at nothing in particular.

"aur kab tak yu aashu bahayengi aap rani sa"

("how long are you going to shed tears rani sa"), his deep and husky voice almost echoed in the empty chamber of chandramukhi, not just her bedroom ...now even the whole west palace was empty.

He was standing near the door leaning back against it, although inside the bedroom.

Chandra raises her glossy eyes , her soft brown orbs meeting the nonchalant look of the tall and imposing guard inside her bedroom.

She muttered under her breath in a low voice, her voice was almost like a whisper, but the eerily silent bedroom made her voice audible.

"aanshu bahane ke alawa , mere paas aur hai hi kya"

("apart from shedding tears, what else do I have left")

"Neither I have the beauty, nor the talent. The husband's love, the family's care, the soft bonds of friendships ... there's nothing in my life" , her voice was hoarse as another tear rolled down from her eyes

"I am all alone." , the pain in her voice was not at all hidden , it's been more than 6 years since she is living a solitude and lonely life with no care , attention or love . Chandramukhi clutches onto her knees and buried her head on her knees, the tears damping her lehenga skirt.

"Kindness", the voice was loud and clear as he pushed himself off the wall and stalked towards chandramukhi in slow calculated steps, he stood tall right in front of her while staring down at her curled up figure in the bed.

Chandramukhi's eyes slowly rose and stared up at him, there was a soft frown in her tear stricken face

"You have kindness, even after being wronged by everyone, you never wish wrong upon others. Which was why you let me inside your bedroom, just because it will be cold outside the chamber in the rain".

There was no hint of hesitation in his voice , chandramukhi was kind , in fact way too kind and innocent. All Vikram said was 'i guess I will have to guard in cold tonight' and chandra let him come inside the chamber, first for saving her from falling and because he is the only responsible guard in the whole west palace who would not leave her side and perform his duty well

And besides there is no one in the palace to even know that she let someone inside the bedroom, so while vikramjeet was standing near the door. chandra sobbed in her bed as usual, the only difference was that now he was facing and watching her directly.

"That, because you would have been cold outside". She says innocently gazing at him.

A sigh escapes the mouth of Vikram at her innocent words , he thinks in his mind ..'kind ! Yes , but stupidly kind and way too naive and innocent. Never thought a queen could be this weak and naive'.

"You are way too innocent and naive rani sa , pure, innocent, kind ... vulnerable! Did you ever receive the education for the queen ? Politics ? Weapons?" . He asks in a cold and harsh voice, there was a hint of frustration in his voice.

A blush of embarrassment forms on chandramukhi's face, she gently shakes her head in no ...there was absolutely no education she has got other than the maids telling her to seduce kailash and let him do everything he wants , on the day of wedding night ...but of course kailash never even bothered to come to the chamber of chandra on the wedding night . Basically chandramukhi had no other education.

His lips curl upward into a smirk as he sees her denying. He thinks in his mind, 'so all they taught her was to spread those pretty little legs of her for that pathetic of a king, did he use her and got bored ? Is that why she is alone and lonely in this palace , pfft~'

"So basically you never learned to live alone even after being alone ?"

chandramukhi's eyes widened, for a second his word hit deep inside her , at first she was confused but still she understood what he meant by never learned to live alone , .. Of course because of the craving of touch , attention, care , love was so much that her heart was still begging desperately for someone's presence.

Did she not feel pathetic? She did , every day, every time, she went to kailash stepping on her self respect, she felt beyond pathetic and miserable...yet ...the feeling of being loved, wanting to experience the joy of love overpowered every other thing .

"AAAAHHHHHHH" .. A loud squeak escapes chandramukhi's mouth , her eyes widened in horror and terror

suddenly she was pounced by vikramjeet , Vikramjeet grabbed her both wrist tightly and pinned her harshly on the bed . He hovered over her pinning her hands over her head.

Chandramukhi shouts loudly in fear, her heart skipped a beat "WHAT ARE YOU DOING--MHMMMHMM" ..before Chandra could shout more, vikramjeet pinned both of her hands with his one hand and cupped the mouth of chandramukhi to muffle her voice , chandra was squirming under him but Vikram kept her pinned down against his heavy body

Chandramukhi was trying her best to squirm out of his hold , but was it even possible for a fragile girl like her to overpower a muscular trained guard. Tears started brimming in her eyes while her muffled voice echoing in the empty room

Vikram's hand that was palming her mouth , left her ..and his hand advanced towards the strap of Her blouse on her shoulder

"NOOOO" , chandramukhi shouted loudly, her pained voice so loud that it made even Vikram. Shudder, chandramukhi's body shivered like a leaf, and she closed her eyes tightly , a drop of tear rolling down her eyes.

Vikramjeet's hand finally stop, he instead places his hand beside her head staring down at him while still hovering over her , his face was expressionless and his eyes were cold , in a low , deep and husky voice he finally muttered to chandramukhi ,

"Do you get it now ? How weak, Naive and vulnerable you are Rani sa !"

Chandramukhi's body stiffned, her eyes shot open as she stares up at Vikramjeet.

"Get off me" , her voice was trembling and tinged with fear.

He does not move up from her , instead with darkened eyes and a clenched jaw, he continues.

"You let a man enter your bedroom at night, why ? .. Because you are so kind and stupid that you forget that the world is not just as kind Rani sa , animals prey on their prey and eat them alive ...why ? Because the preys are weak and alone , they are easy to trap . This world does not have a place for the weak, people will eat you alive if you let them walk all over you !! And most importantly men . They will strip you off of your dignity"

A shiver runs down her body as the words of Vikram hit her brain and heart , WEAK , NAIVE , INNOCENT.... PATHETIC! ..she was . Wasn't she ?

Vikram raises his hand and brushes away the tears against her cheeks.

"My work is to protect you Rani sa , and I intend to fulfill my duty . But I will have to teach you how to protect yourself first"

After brushing away the tears from her eyes and brushing a strand of hair behind her ear , he finally gets away from her and sits down on the bed staring down at chandramukhi

"i will teach you , how to live alone." his voice was surprisingly gentle

She was stunned , terrified but that gentle word and feathery teach on her cheek, the first time she ever felt that. He didn't even hesitate to touch her

she was so pathetic, her body shakes as she palms her face lying down in front of him..

Her breaking down and painful , broken voice of crying fills the bedroom, the only presence was the man in front of her, and she shattered pouring out all the pain from her heart into the crying mess.

Maybe it was pity for Chandramukhi or the terrible state she was in , vikramjeet decided to protect her and frame her into a better version of herself in which , at least she won't have to be so ... unprotected

......................

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months , there was no particular sort of confession or talk of being friends or partners .. some how they both started being together...just a kind of small company to each other.

Vikram would time to time educate her of how to be guarded in the palace , how she shouldn't trust anyone, he had started teaching her the basics of knowing the politics and about the kingdom. and best of all

"who gave you the audacity to neglect your work , Did yoh forget your place you little bitch ! .. your work is to arrange my bath , do it before I order to shoot and kill you". chandramukhi roared at the maid who didn't do shit to prepare her bath , her galre intensified while she saw the maid cower fear with the change in chandramukhi.

vikramjeet taught chandramukhi to handle the maids and guards.

vikram sighs softly staring down at the sleeping figure of chandramukhi near the pond, he gently caresses the hair of chandra from her face

"how did it turn out like this . I wasn't supposed to be distracted by you Rani sa ...my Rani sa."
