Aitana entered the forest and began to take off her clothes, letting her wolf free. She rarely let her come out in daylight, as her wolf was white with purple eyes, very uncommon, and she didn't want to be mocked by the pack or treated as strange. But at that moment, nothing else mattered. She wanted to run and be free, to forget everything that was happening, the pain that enveloped her entire being. For almost her whole life, she had been in love with Damian and hoped he would be her mate, but it wasn't meant to be. He already had a destined mate, a beautiful and kind woman. Aitana didn't blame anyone for what was happening; she had created a fairy tale in her head, which was just that, a silly tale.
She arrived at the lagoon where she decided to rest and drink some water. She looked at her reflection in the crystalline water. Her wolf's coat was unusual; only her parents had seen her in that state. Even they had agreed that she shouldn't transform in front of others, and with her father being the Beta, they didn't oppose her decision. During training, when transformation was required, she didn't participate, although that didn't mean she didn't train. She did so, especially with her father or her mother, who, before becoming a housewife, had been a powerful warrior of the pack.
She lay down by the lake, feeling the cool breeze, and fell asleep without knowing for how long. When she woke up, she noticed it was already getting dark. She looked around; being in the forest at that hour was dangerous. Even the Alpha had forbidden it, as deserters could attack. Hurriedly, she ran towards home, unaware that she had been watched in the darkness.

"Aitana, I was worried! It's very late," Andrea questioned as she saw her enter through the back door. Aitana didn't say anything; she took a robe that was hanging behind the door and put it on.
"I'm sorry, I went to clear my head in the woods for a while and fell asleep," she said with her gaze downcast.
"In the forest until this hour? Were you transformed? Did anyone see you?" Andrea asked, frightened. Her daughter had arrived naked, and now only that robe covered her.
"Don't worry, Mom, nobody saw me." She smiled and looked her mother up and down, who was wearing an elegant green dress.
"Go upstairs and get ready, we have to go to the party," she said, stroking her daughter's face.
"I don't want to go," Aitana whispered. "Please…" she pleaded, but Andrea refused.
"You have to go. I'm sorry, honey, I know how you feel, but this party is important. They will introduce the future Alpha and Luna of the pack," she said, much to Aitana's surprise. Although she knew it would happen, she didn't think they would do it that same night.

At the party, everyone was already present. The pack knew their future Luna, who, in addition to being beautiful, was very kind to everyone. It didn't take long for her to receive praise from everyone. Melissa was happy to be accepted by this pack, which was very different from the one she belonged to.
"Look, it's Alain and Aitana," Melissa said excitedly, seeing the Beta's family arrive. Damian looked at them and smiled. Aitana looked very beautiful in that sky-blue dress, with a sweetheart neckline and off-the-shoulder sleeves. The skirt was loose from the waist down and had a slit on the left leg that reached the top of her thigh. Her wavy hair was tied in a half ponytail, leaving two long strands at the front. Her makeup was very natural, her lips a pink that defined them perfectly. She wore two small earrings and a barely visible necklace with a small oval stone pendant. "She looks beautiful and tender," Melissa said. She wore a gold mermaid-cut dress that defined her curves very well. Her makeup wasn't heavy, and her lips stood out with red lipstick. Her straight, reddish hair flowed down below her waist, adorned with a thin headband that matched her dress.
"Yes, very much so," Damian said, unable to stop looking at that girl who really looked so beautiful.
The party continued its normal rhythm. Damian walked with Melissa throughout the hall, introducing her as the future Luna, and she was well received by everyone in the pack.
"Friend, I'm sorry," Sam approached Aitana. "You must be very sad about this," she whispered.
"It's okay…" Aitana said, trying to downplay the events, but it was hard not to feel sad and even envious of Melissa at that moment. "What's wrong?" she asked, seeing her friend take a sharp breath.
"Burning…" Sam whispered heavily. She fanned herself with her arms and looked around.
"Sam?" Aitana said nervously, trying to understand what was happening to her friend.
"Mate," Sam said, fixing her gaze ahead. Aitana looked at her in astonishment at those words. She followed her friend's gaze to see who her mate was. Her surprise was even greater; her brother was approaching them with firm steps, his eyes changing color from one moment to the next.
"Mate," her brother said, standing in front of Sam. Aitana looked at them in disbelief. Her brother and her best friend were destined mates. She noticed Sam was smiling and her cheeks were turning red. Her brother didn't stop looking at her with an inexplicable gleam in his eyes, which kept changing from honey to black. She knew that even his wolf was excited at that moment.
Aitana didn't want to interrupt that moment. She began to walk away to leave them alone and get to know each other. She was happy to know that her brother had found his mate, and who better than her best friend?
"Aitana?" she heard herself being called, her smile beginning to disappear when she saw who it was.
"Damian," she said, trying to keep her smile, but being close to him hurt.
"You look very beautiful. Blue looks wonderful on you; it's my favorite color," Damian said, and of course Aitana knew that, that's why she had chosen that color.
"Thank you, you look phenomenal too," she said as normally as possible. "You and Melissa make a great couple," she continued, although that was painful for her.
"I know, it's something that can't be explained, but when you find your mate, everything revolves around her. It's inexplicable, but you'll know when you find yours," he said with a big smile. Aitana just nodded; she had thought that Damian would be her mate for so long that now she wasn't thinking of finding one.
"Here you are," Melissa said, arriving. "Hello, Aitana," Melissa said kindly. "You look beautiful," she continued and gave her a big hug.
"You look much more beautiful," Aitana replied to the hug.
"True, I just saw Alain with a girl. He couldn't stop smiling, he really seemed very happy being with her," she said, looking at Damian.
"Yes, well, my brother found his mate. It's Sam, my best friend," Aitana said. Damian was glad to hear those words.
"You're the only one left, little one," he said, stroking her head. "I hope your mate is worthy of you," he continued.
"Of course he will be, she deserves a love like ours," Melissa said, stroking Damian's face. He looked at her lovingly and, without thinking, kissed her on the lips in front of Aitana. That hurt her so much. She looked away and forced her tears not to escape.
Alpha Elias and his Luna, Dafne, gave a few words to welcome their son, Damian, and his mate. They were very happy that their son had found his destined mate and entrusted them with the future of the Blue Moon pack. Damian and Melissa stepped forward. Damian took out a black velvet box and knelt before Melissa. Everyone watched in surprise at this declaration from their future Alpha.
Aitana watched from the audience. She couldn't help it anymore, and her tears began to flow. Alain, despite his happiness, couldn't help but feel sad for his sister. He approached her and hugged her. Sam was also there, comforting her great friend.

The weekend arrived. Despite Aitana's pain, she couldn't evade the invitation to the king's party. She went down with a small suitcase as they would only be spending the weekend at the palace, which was only a few hours away by car.
"Can I stay?" Aitana asked, looking at her father, who made the final decision about the family.
"I'm sorry, honey, but it's not wise. Lately there have been attacks on the packs, and they usually go after the Alpha or Beta's family. I wouldn't be comfortable leaving you here alone," said Marcus. He also knew what his daughter was going through at that moment; he had even been against that supposed arranged marriage between Damian and her. He feared that this would happen, and his daughter would be like this.
"Come on, little sister, Sam is coming too," Alain said, trying to cheer her up.
"Yeah, but they haven't been apart since they became mates. You're taking my best friend away from me," Aitana blurted out angrily. Alain laughed and kissed her forehead.
The trip to the palace was very quiet. Aitana put on her headphones and listened to music the whole way. Sam and Alain tried to cheer her up and make her look at the scenery, but the girl wasn't in the mood.
Upon arriving at the palace, they were greeted by the staff there. They all gazed in awe at the enormous palace. It was the first time they had visited, well, except for Alpha Elias and Beta Marcus, who went there when the king summoned the Alphas and Betas at his service.
"Do you think we'll see the king?" Sam asked in a whisper.
"At the party," Aitana said nonchalantly, glancing sideways at Damian and Melissa, who were walking hand in hand, very happy.
"You know, you might find your mate during the party," Sam said, trying to distract Aitana. "Imagine if he's an alpha from another pack, oh my god, you'd have to go with him…" she said excitedly. Aitana gave her a negative look; she didn't want that, she didn't want to be separated from her family. "Please, friend, you have to forget about him, you have a life ahead of you," she whispered.
"I know, but right now I don't want to find my mate," she whispered heavily. She didn't feel ready to find her mate. She didn't know what would happen since her feelings for Damian were still intact. They were feelings that she had nurtured for so many years that she felt that finding a mate would be complicated since she would be bound to him by a bond of destiny.
During the rest of the day, there was a brief meeting with the alphas and betas of the kingdom and, of course, their families. Aitana's beauty stood out among the children of alphas and betas. They longed to have her as a mate, but the famous bond was not present.
"We could have some fun with her," said one of the young men, captivated by Aitana's beauty.
"You don't know what you're saying, she's the daughter of Beta Marcus, from the Moon pack. You know that pack is to be feared for its Alpha and even its Beta. Besides, she's Alain's sister. Remember that in the academy, he was always one of the most outstanding in combat," said another, a little scared, as he looked over to where Alain was with his mate.
"Come on, he's busy with his female. He won't even notice that his sister is gone for a while," said the other red-haired boy.
"Don't do it, Morgan, you'll get in trouble," his friend said.
"And so it shall be," Melissa said, approaching. "Don't you dare do anything against her, is that clear?" Melissa said threateningly, a different Melissa than she had been before.
"What, you're good now, sister?" Morgan said. Melissa sighed and looked at the redhead.
"Listen, Morgan, I now belong to the Blue Moon pack, and I will be the future Luna. Damian is very fond of that girl, so I won't let you hurt her," Melissa spoke firmly.
"Idiot, you joined a very soft pack, you should have rejected that fool, Damian," Morgan blurted out angrily.
"Is there a problem?" Damian arrived and looked at Morgan. He knew that Melissa wasn't good friends with his brother, and neither was he with her, as they had had some conflicts at the academy.
"None, I was just telling my sister that she can still reject you, she deserves better than you," Morgan said irritably. Damian clenched his fists; he wanted to hit Morgan right then and there.
"Damian, don't do it, it's not worth it," Melissa said, taking Damian's hand. "And you've been warned, be careful what you do, remember you're not in your pack." She looked at her brother threateningly, then walked away with Damian.
"She's right. If you do something wrong, the king will punish you. They say that despite his ferocity and rudeness, he is very fair with the law...better not cause trouble here," the boy said. Morgan glared at him angrily and walked away, still watching Aitana.
