Title: A Bond of Fate (Part 6)
Hana’s Childhood
Hana grew up in a home filled with warmth and laughter, where love was woven into the fabric of everyday life. Jina and Jin, determined to give their daughter the freedom they had once longed for, encouraged her to explore the world with curiosity and confidence.
From the moment she could walk, Hana was a spirited child, her boundless energy lighting up their lives. She loved to follow Jina to the village school, sitting at the back of the classroom with wide, curious eyes as her mother taught. Though too young to understand most of the lessons, Hana would mimic Jina’s words, earning smiles from the children and prideful glances from her mother.
At home, Jin would often take Hana to his workshop, letting her play with the smooth scraps of wood while he worked on his projects. She’d sit on a stool beside him, her tiny hands trying to mimic his movements with a piece of sandpaper.
"One day, I’ll make something as beautiful as you do, Papa," she’d say with a determined pout.
Jin would chuckle, ruffling her hair. "You already do, my little artist. Just look at your smile—it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen."
Hana’s favorite place, however, was the garden. The cherry blossoms that had witnessed the beginning of her parents’ love now became the backdrop of her childhood. Jina and Jin often found her under the trees, chasing butterflies or lying in the grass, staring up at the sky.
"Do you think I can catch a cloud one day?" she asked once, her voice filled with wonder.
Jina laughed, lying down beside her. "Maybe not a cloud, but you can chase your dreams just like one. Wherever you want to go, we’ll help you get there."
Hana’s adventurous spirit soon extended beyond the garden. By the time she was six, she was making friends with nearly everyone in the village. She’d run through the streets with a group of children, her laughter echoing through the air. Yet, no matter how far she wandered, she always came home to her parents, eager to share her stories.
"Papa, I found the biggest beetle today!" she’d exclaim, holding out her tiny hands to show Jin her discovery.
"And did you name it?" Jin would ask, trying not to grimace at the wriggling creature.
"Of course! His name is Goro, and he’s my new friend," she’d declare proudly, her grin infectious.
As Hana grew, she inherited her mother’s love for learning and her father’s creativity. By the time she was eight, she was helping Jina in the school, teaching younger children how to read and write. She’d also started carving small wooden figures with Jin, each one more intricate than the last.
One evening, as they sat around the fire, Hana presented her parents with a surprise. In her small hands was a wooden carving of their family—a tall figure for Jin, a graceful one for Jina, and a tiny one in the middle for herself.
"It’s us," she explained, her cheeks flushed with excitement. "I made it so we’ll always be together, no matter what."
Jin and Jina exchanged a look, their hearts swelling with pride. Jin pulled Hana into his arms, his voice thick with emotion. "You’ve made something more beautiful than I ever could, Hana. This will always remind us of how much love we share."
Hana beamed, her eyes shining with happiness. "I love you, Mama and Papa. More than the stars love the sky."
"And we love you, Hana," Jina whispered, holding her close. "More than anything in this world."
Hana’s childhood was one of joy and discovery, filled with lessons from her parents that shaped her into a compassionate, curious, and confident young girl. She grew up knowing that her family’s love was her greatest treasure—a love built on the resilience and choices her parents had made years before she was born.
And as the years passed, the little girl who once dreamed of catching clouds would grow to chase dreams even bigger, always carrying the love of her parents with her.
