EPISODE 8

Miracle Faith Madrigal POV

The next day

I woke up early, it was only 5 AM. When I got up, I was already dressed. I was about to stand up when I felt pain in my stomach, so I groaned from the pain.

"Sh*t, it hurts! Damn." I cursed.

Suddenly, the door opened, and my attention was drawn to it. It was Dwayne, holding food.

"Have you eaten already?" He asked.

I glared at him.

"Damn, it hurts, I think it’s really broken." I grabbed the food because I was hungry.

A silence enveloped both of us.

"What time are we going to the mayor's office?" I broke the silence.

"I've already talked to him, let’s just wait until 12 o'clock." He answered.

"Don’t you know how to speak Tagalog?" He always uses English, doesn’t he get tired of it?

"I know, but I’m not used to speaking Tagalog." He looked cute when he spoke Tagalog.

"Finish your food first before talking. You’re not done eating yet." He scolded me.

"There you go again with your English, your Tagalog is really good." I ate like he told me, until I finished everything.

Dwayne took my plate and was about to leave when I stopped him.

"Wait! Dwayne." I called out.

"What?"

"Buy me a watermelon that’s pink." He looked at me, shocked.

"What?" He asked in surprise.

"Please, just go, buy me a pink watermelon." I closed the door, and I limped back to the bed to lie down.

Dwayne Lexus De Villa POV

I was surprised by what Miracle wanted to eat. Where in the world can I find a pink watermelon? Does it even exist?

I called my friends for help.

First, I called my friend Yuri.

"Hello, bro! Why are you calling me?"

"Go to my office, and call Mark while you're there." I told him on the line.

"Okay! Take it easy, you really have a hot temper." He said before I hung up the phone.

Fast forward

I’m in my office now with my friends.

"Why did you call us here to your office, do you need something?" Percy, my friend, asked.

There are four of us here in the office. Our other friend, Tyler, is in the US with his fiancée.

"Bro, I need your help." I said.

"What kind of help?" Mark asked.

"Yeah, what help?" Yuri agreed.

"Miracle is craving a watermelon..." I didn’t get to finish what I was going to say when Percy spoke.

"Who’s Miracle?" Percy asked, surprised.

Oh yeah, they don’t know Miracle yet. Only Mark and Yuri know because they were there when we had our argument at the hospital.

I explained to them so they wouldn’t ask anymore, I was sure Miracle was already waiting for me.

"Let’s go, let’s find a watermelon." Lucas called us.

"Where do we find a pink watermelon?" I asked them.

"What? Pink?" They all said at the same time.

This is what happens when they don’t listen to what I’m saying. I nodded at them.

"Does a pink watermelon really exist?" Lucas asked.

"We don’t know." We all said at once.

"Let’s just ask the vendors."

Fast forward

We’re in the market now, looking for one, but every time we ask, the vendors are angry and keep saying the same thing: “Are you crazy? Where can we find a pink watermelon?"

"Excuse me, can I ask you something?" I said politely.

"Sure, son."

"Do you have a pink watermelon?" The vendor laughed at my question.

"Pink watermelon? Son, there’s no such thing." The vendor continued laughing.

"My wife is craving it." I explained.

"Is that so, son?" The vendor replied.

"Yes," was all I said.

"Just buy this one, and you can color it pink." The vendor suggested.

"Thank you, here’s the payment." Lucas said. He probably noticed I was struggling with speaking Tagalog.

We had the watermelon colored pink and then went back to our respective houses.

"When I got home, they were all laughing—Tita, Tito, and Mom and Dad noticed me and looked at me."

"Son, where have you been?" Mom asked.

"I just bought a watermelon because Miracle was craving it." I continued up the stairs toward the room. When I entered, she was fast asleep, so I woke her up.

"Miracle, wake up."

"Ummhh," she groaned.

"Wake up, I bought a watermelon." She immediately got up with a smile on her face.

I peeled the watermelon and watched her eat until she finished.

"Get dressed now, it’s almost 12 o’clock." I told her.

She went to get dressed and fix herself. I followed her until we were both ready. When we came down, everyone was already prepared.

We were at the mayor’s office. He had a lot of things for us to sign, and he talked to us until everything was done. When we got home, there was a small party. Tita and Mommy insisted on preparing food; they said it wasn’t allowed to have a gathering without food, so I just let them.
